    Hi Nishendra, I saw your model and I also try to model from L1 to L5 for my studies. I have some models but I couldn't seperate them into shell and core parts as in your model. How do you model them as core and shell parts? Which program did you use for this?

    How to assign solidmap mesh with a geometry

    Thanks Pooja, It works! I transfered solidmap mesh to a geometry. However, I couldn't see some components in the 'dest component' list. What is the reason of this? What do I miss about this situation? Do you have any idea?
  5. It is my understanding that results/planewaves exist outside of the model extents and that only the model needs to adhere to the model extents. This is from correspondence I had with an applications engineer at Altair. My question is then how far outside of the model extents does the plane wave extend? Cheers, Patrick

  7. Hi @Torben Voigt, Thanks for you immediately support, and it works now. Here is another question for another exercise, I would like to use a horn antenna to radiate on a metallic sphere, then try to use the same horn antenna to receive power reflected from the metallic sphere. First, I extract near field data from a horn antenna I just run (please check file named horn_X band_190309.cfs). Then in simulation 1 (please check file named FF source_PEC.......cfs), I use this near field source as TX and radiate to a metallic sphere, then I can get the results of the near field from a surface of sphere, and extract its as the near field source for simulation 2 (please check file named temp_190313.cfs) In simulation 2, I use the near field source from previous results (on surface of sphere) and radiate to a near field receiving antenna (the same horn antenna) and try to get the result that how much power it can receive. However, I get two different results from different method, one is using far field receiving antenna, another one is near field receiving antenna as below. And also, it is weird that the power is negative, could you please help us check again what's happening to this simulation? And the last question is, how could we get results of the far field pattern from receiving antenna, not just power calculation?     Optimization S parameters

    Recapitulate the problem. I have measurements made with the VNA of the scattering parameters S11 and S21 with a configuration of a rectangular waveguide with a dielectric inside. I intend to quantify the relative dielectric constant and its loss tangent. So to get the latter I started by determining an initial value for the two, and then configuring an "Add Search" where I configured two masks (one relating to the magnitude of S11 and the other relating to the magnitude of S21). In the 'Goals' I defined two goals: the two scattering parameters must be the same as the two masks I defined. In the 'Parameters' instead I made the two variables vary: epsr and tan_delta. I wanted to know: - Is it right how I set the problem? I put the configuration files back because I changed the model PRIMA_OTTIMIZZAZIONE.cfx PRIMA_OTTIMIZZAZIONE.cfx.bak


    Hello, When I run the optistruct, I'm getting the warning "Unsupported graphics card detected. ID = NVIDIA Corporation GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2. This warning will only appear once." And the hyperview shows nothing. Please tell me how to solve this problem. Thanks,

    HyperMesh 14.0 Auto Save Script

    Actually i am not a tcl expert - it is used widely. I learned hypermesh before tcl. Once you're familiar with most hypermesh features, scripting is not a problem because hypermesh outputs every action of you, pick each command from command.cmf file, look it up in hm reference guide, do examples given by altair. Tcl features are listed in manual (activestate.com) similar to other languages. This is the most simple syntax language I ever know and much easier than pascal.

    Info on Simlab-Optistruct

    Hello all and please accept my apologies if my question has been answered in the past. I am interested in simlab's capabilities especially for our design team, so I would like to ask if simlab comes together with Optistruct as a solver, or it has to be purchased as well. I haven't seen any videos about simlab explaining how to setup simlab to start optistruct by default, solve the problem and then view the results within Simlab environment. Thank you.

    forces and coordinate system

    When i recreate the same coordinate system in the second design study, and try to apply the forces again as in the first design study they have a different orientation. This is an error, i think.
  15. In one of the semminar viedo it has been mentioned that the geometry can be exported from Flux2D and imported to FluxMotor Part Library.   16. Hi Pooja, Thank you for the help. It seems for some reason my SPH was not defined as an /SPHCEL, so it was not working properly. Here is the updated model with all internal free edges resolved. My problem now is that the simulation takes 5 days to complete (and so I cannot attach a complete .out file). Is this due to the high volume of elements? Do I need to coarsen my mesh or conduct a model order reduction? Thanks, Ayman TEST2_0000.rad

    Need TCL/TK learning advice

    The big difference here stands on the specific functions HM uses, which are in a sense independent on the TCL language as it works as an additional package for the language. If you know the basics of programming and the syntax for TCL, I would suggest that you explore as much as you can the command.tcl file written by HM. This file is really useful as it records any action you do in the GUI into to a code format. Then looking at it, you can change the necessary arguments and others. To learn more about the available functions you can use with HM, please consult the "Scripts > Commands and Functions" part of the HM help. There you can understand the inputs for the HM functions and other capabilities you might be looking for. Hope this helps. Jefferson Vieira

Hi @Marcus Chang, In the model where the near field is requested, the Start and End values of U are defined from positive to negative: Therefore when trying to use as near field source, you should rotate the workplane of the source (or of the field data) so that the orientation agrees with the original model.

  25. Hi, I had planned to learn TCL/TK via online tutorial (tutorialpoint). When starting the tutorial, basics are easy to understand. But when getting deeper inside the tutorial after basics, it is very difficult to understand. So kindly help me with following questions. 1) Is there any easy way to learn this language??? 2) Online tutorials are like in coding format and their teaching also in same way.
