  1. Hello, Since the contact surface is deformed in the current analyses, I would like to use tracking system to obtain the projection of the contact forces on the element surfaces. I could manage to use tracking system for displacement but I could not find a way to use for vectors of contact forces. the toggle A picture of the issue I mentioned, is attached to this message. The swicthed that is written "use tracking system" cannot be activated as shown in the second picture, Thank you for your help in advance.
  2. Hi, I am running a random response analysis and I tried to request the SPC forces by selecting it in the random subcase output section like I did it for a simple frequency response analysis .   3. Hello, I have a suspension arm with a ball joint modeled in Radioss. My ball joint is modeled as a beam element connected to a zero length SPRING2N with very high translation rigidity and 0 torsional rigidity. I would like to be able to show the reaction force acting in my SPRING2N as a vector to appreciated visually and in one glance its orientation in space. I can use an output block /TH/SPRING to plot the magnitude but this does not provide the orientation. I tried /ANIM/VECT but none of the options seem to offer what I am looking for. I also tried /ANIM/SPRING/FORC, but I can't find "where" this result is plotted (vector, contour?). Any help on how I can do what I want? Thanks

    Importing Data as a Force Load

    Hi, I had a question concerning the integration of an array from Excel (or for that matter, any type of data where it is a string of numbers) into a boundary condition loading in HyperMesh. I have two arrays of length 126; is there any way to apply them to each of my 126 selected nodes in my HyperMesh model (it is composed of 2-D shell elements)? I've attached a picture of a section of the arc if that helps. I am trying to divide up a normal load over an arc into horizontal and vertical forces efficiently and quickly. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dylan Stelzer

    Force Label

    Hello guys, I am building a small size model with many forces close to each other, and there is a white label "FORCE" next to the red arrow that is the force applied. For the publication, I need diagrams with a clear view of the arrows, and that is impossible due to all the force labels overlapping each other. I have tried a lot of settings but that white force label will not disappear. Any ideas? Thanks! PS: the "label loads" option in the forces menu does not affect said label, it only adds the magnitude of the force next to the "FORCE" label.
  6. Hi, I'm developing our impact atenuator for an FSAE team based in the crashbox tutorial available by altair. The simulation gone all right but we are having some trouble to generate the graphics.In hypergraph I can't plot the displacement vs force graph, it's shown just a limited number of options in the X type. I want to know how can I generate the displacement vs force graph of the honeycomb or the graph of a point in it. Please, it's urgent.
  7. Hello, i just start to use Tcl script on hypermesh. I've a script who create a simple geometry and mesh on hypermesh. And i need to create boundary conditions. with the commande file I've : *startnotehistorystate {Created Force } *createmark nodes 1 1-19 1920-1945 4553-4559 *loadcreateonentity_curve nodes 1 1 1 -0 -0 50 0 0 50 0 0 0 0 0 *endnotehistorystate {Created Force } The problem is that the nodes are not always the ame (depend on my geometry). Can I create boundary conditions without the number of the nodes ? Like with lines ? Something like : *startnotehistorystate {Created Force } *createmark nodes 1 Line 3 *loadcreateonentity_curve nodes 1 1 1 -0 -0 50 0 0 50 0 0 0 0 0 *endnotehistorystate {Created Force } Thanks Sorry i'm really a beginner with TCL.

    Force Import

    Hi, I have a .csv file with nodes coordinates and forces (x,y,z,Fx,Fy,Fz) that I need to import in HM. I found 2 solutions: Use Field > realize BCs > Create > Forces > Linear Interpolation Both take the .csv file as an input and apply its forces to the model. What are the differences? What should I use? Thanks for the help!
  10. Hi all, I'm doing a dropping simulation and I find the rigid wall force is strange. So I design a simple dropping model for checking. The rigid wall reaction force is also so strange similar to my problem. In the early stage of dropping contact, the rigid wall reaction force is very large, I suspect this large force result. Is it real or due to the rigid wall formulation? Or how to solve this problem? At beginning, the distance between the Box model and the rigid wall is about 4mm, which means there is no initial penetration I think. I have attached my model. The model is very small, it can be solved in minutes. Please help me find out the reason. Thank you.     Loading MBD forces into FEM

    Hi everyone, I'm seeking for help in a topic which I'm fairly new to. I have a complete running MBD model of an automotive vehicle complete with different loadcases. The model provides forces on all joints and pre-defined points. The question I have is; 1. Is there a way to automatically load the output forces on a joint, into a static FEM-analysis? And some follow-up questions if this is to be true; 2. Can I pre-define the time at which the most relevant forces occur? 3. Can this be automated as well? For example: At a given time x, the combination of forces in 3 joints give the highest combined loadcase, but it is not necessary to be the highest force in one of the joints. This could occur at time x2. This would greatly increase our evaluation process of a frame. Thank you in advance!

  14. Hi, I am new to Hypermesh and am trying to analyse the load that will be exerted on the airfoil based on the pressure distribution along the airfoil (refer to pic). Is it possible to import these values from the graph into hypermesh?

But now I want to know how much force I apply that the model will get the specific stress. So the problems I met are: 1. how to make force as response 2. how to add this specific stress (I guess maybe is the static stress=specific value) I don't know if this is possible.   16. Hello Everyone ! I would like to set up a problem on Hypermesh which include around a hundred load cases (in linear static). To automate it, I found a TCL which "allows a simple template to be created to define the loadcases; useful for creating large numbers of static loadcases very quickly and easily" (link) Thanks to a little VBA, I've just succeed in transforming my Excel data base into a readable txt file for this TCL script. And it works. But my problem is this TCL script only applies my forces (and SPC) on the global system. Is there a solution, and how can modify the TCL script so that it can apply my load cases on a specific local system (expressed into the .txt for each load cases) ? If someone can help me to takle this problem, I will be sooo grateful (Because I've never learnt how to program in TCL) Thanks in advance, Best regards, Hervé Archives.zip

    Crash Analysis Force Output

    Hi all, I want to ask something about force output. I prepared a crash analysis with a pendulum and crashbumper system.(crashboxes,bumper and brackets) If i do this analysis with rigid wall i can see the results with RWALL forces,but my pendulum is in a different shape,so i don't do it with RWALL. Instead, i modeled pendulum with a small thickness and fully rigid.I can do the analysis in this way.But i want to learn that;how i can i get the force output of this crash analysis? (Brackets are not fully rigid,they are constrained with four screw with BC.) Attached picture may be a referance. Thanks in advance.

    Termination Sensors

    Hi all, Hopefully a really simple one to solve. I have a simple model, working as a demonstrator. 2 Components, one locked in place whilst the other is driven into it. I have a contact between the two. I need the simulation to terminate when the contact force reaches 100kN. I believe the strategy is /STOP/LSENSOR. Sensor = /Sensor/INTER... TYPE 6. However, I cannot get the simulation to kill at 100kN. Here is the sensor (Fmin = -1, Fmax = 100). ## Sensors ##-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /SENSOR/INTER/1 SENSOR 1 -1.0 100.0 0.0 The issue seems to be when the simulation starts, the sensor activates. I've run the model without the sensor and it ranges from 0 to 200kN. I have tried varying the numbers but that does not alter the outcome, every attempt begins with sensor being activated. HELP!!!!     Dequations help

    Hello Optistruct users, I am attempting to run a topology optimization using dequations as a force constraint. I would like to obtain the reaction forces on a bolt (represented as a CBUSH) and calculate the shear forces on the bolt. The shear forces will be calculated using dequations since we can only obtain reaction forces in DOF 1-6 and shear is needed from both DOF 2 and 3 (in this case). I would then like to use the calculated reaction shear force as a constraint. My trouble is relating the reaction forces to the dequation. How do I reference these forces? I am assuming I will need to reference the node number as well. My other concern is relating the dequation to RESP2. When I try to create a response (using function as my response type) I get the response "a dequation must be selected and edited". I am not sure if this is due to my equation not having referenced any forces with my variables or not. Do I need to create my eqation in Hypermath? Being that the equation I need is already a built in funtion as rss I am thinking I do not need to use Hypermath. Also, if there is a better way to establish the same result I am open to suggestions.   24. Hi, I have another post about this same topic but I wanted to create a new one in order to keep the problem concise and detailed as possible. My goal is that I want to be able to create a constant force load over a curved surface (specifically, the upper half of a semi-circle) and have every force load be normal to said surface while utilizing 2-D shell elements. Currently, this is how I am doing it. 1. The geometry (and mesh) is the upper half of a semi-circle with a radius of ~4cm (average element mesh size is 0.05cm). *I have been previously doing this model with only horizontal and vertical forces on the arced surface (never combined) E.g. Horizontal forces in the +y direction on the left third of the arc, vertical forces in the -z direction on the top third of the arc, and another set of horizontal forces in the -y direction on the right third of the arc. 2. My boss asked me to combine horizontal and vertical forces in such a way that I will have a (let's just use an easy number) constant 100N force applied to every node on the arc in a direction normal to the surface of said arc (this is hopefully supposed to simulate some sort of compression-like force load). 3. Selecting all of the nodes, I know there are 252 of them on the arc in total. E.g. This makes sense because the length of the arc is equal to s = pi*radius = 12.5664cm and Total # of Nodes = s/.05cm = 252 nodes (approximately) 4. Combining horizontal and vertical forces at each node just requires two simple equations and a little bit of Matlab code *thetaSEP = 180deg / 252 = 0.7143deg (approximately) and hypotenuse = 100N Iteration 1 (Node 1): cos(thetaSEP) = horizontal/hypotenuse = 100N -sin(thetaSEP) = vertical/hypotenuse = 0N Iteration 2 (Node 2): cos(thetaSEP) = horizontal/hypotenuse = 99.9922N -sin(thetaSEP) = vertical/hypotenuse = -1.2466N etc. etc. etc. *Horizontal equation changes to -cos AFTER the 126 iteration 5. After doing this (and hopefully my math is correct...), I have two vectors, H = [1 x 252] and V = [1 x 252] which have been transferred into Excel (I just like Excel a little better than Matlab) which represents the horizontal and vertical forces that I need to combine at each node to create my constant 100N force load along the arc. ***6. Here, I did my first model by hand entering all 252 force vectors, one at a time. ***This is where I'm hoping someone can give me help on how to automate the process from this point into applying these loads across the nodes I have selected in HyperMesh with correct values (which leads to angle as well). If anyone has any help or details (or more resources for that matter) that I can try to make this process faster, that would be much appreciated. User: Q.NGUYEN-DAI has already given me some great advice but to be completely honest, I've never used Tcl in my life nor have I really programmed that much. Even if someone has a more efficient idea of doing this, could you please explain where I'm making this harder than it needs to be (I understand the "one by one" by hand part is the serious problem)?   25. Hi, This should (hopefully) be a quick Q&A. I have a surface (2-D meshed shell elements) and would like to apply a force constraint to the nodes on the mesh of this surface. My only wish is that the vector of the force constraint be perpendicular to the surface (like constant compression or tension at all points of the surface). Does anyone have experience in this? I was told equations might be where to start but I'm not entirely sure how to utilize that as I'm fairly new into exploring anything other than constant loads.
