  1. Hello, I couldn't distinguish between intersection and penetration. In the model (image in the link below), i could see the penetration of elements, still the penetration check tool shows no penetration, only intersections.   8. I get the following error when i setup the model in Abaqus proile and convert to optistruct profile. It shows ontact surfaces not selected.   10. I will only do rigid body analysis. In that case, only the surface 2D mesh for a 3D solid body is enough ?

  18. I want to refine the mesh in certain portion of a surface and used refinement box option. But it refine only the interior elements and keep the surfece elements same.   19. Actually i ll solve in abaqus and mesh in HM. In the assembly i analyse, there are two different components; one is of very high stiffness compared to other. so i want to define that component as rigid. In abaqus while creating a component we can define as rigid. but my component is of complex shape so i mesh in HV. Once i take to abaqus i cant define as rigid for the component imported from HM. So i want to define the component as rigid in HM itself or any other trick?
  20. Hi Rahul, I have only access to hyperworks 12 in my Lab. Will the feature be available in Hyperworks 13 student edition. (if yes will i be able to open a model with more than 10000 nodes in hyperview student edition ?).

  22. I want to apply centrifugal loading to a thick rotating disk (Body force = density *angular velocity ^2* radius). If it is first order element i can equally share the load among each nodes ( lumped body force vector for linear approx ). But it is not correct for second order elements (consistent body force vector for quadratic approx). Then what would be the correct way to apply the loading (other than sharing the loads to nodes , is there any way to apply the loading to the whole body at single step ).
  23. I want to apply torque to a small protrusion from the component. But Solid elements don't have rotational degree of freedom. So how to apply the torque ( Torque needs to be applied on all the surface nodes of the curved area ).
