  1. Dear All,

     

    I have seen these limitations already on the official website.

    However, I have a tricky query.

     

    Let me elaborate.

    I need to use Ansys Fluent (because our school has the license). But I hate their Pre-processing. I know how powerful is HyperMesh with meshing (but our school does not have the license).

    Hence, my intention is to use HyperMesh (Student Version) for meshing of my models (LARGE models with very very high element number). And then export the mesh finally to Ansys Fluent.

     

    So, my question is, can I use the Student version to mesh and export large models (without any limitation on number of elements)? I will not be solving the large models any HypperWorks solver.

    Does, anybody know if there is any limitation on number of elements/nodes creation and (then) export through HyperWorks 2017 Student Edition- HyperMesh programme?

     

    In other words, can I create mesh for a geometry with more than 500,000 nodes (for CFD model) and then able export it for another (say Ansys Fluent) solver through the Students versions HyperMesh?

  4. Yes, the nodes would be the same (BY ID) as the deformed part is derived from the undeformed part (Mesh 'd be same (no adaptivity used))

     

    However wile trying relative displacement from measure panel, it enables to select only those nodes which are their in current model file and does not permit to select a node (nothing but the same node-by ID) from another model file.

     

    How about if I could have two components (deformed and undeformed) in a single model file?

  6. Sir,

     

      By default, in measures I see dynamic mim/max option to see deformation of nodes having min/max deformation magnitude at the LAST STEP of simulation which can show their deformation values progressively with the simulation steps.

     

    However, how can I get the dynamic deformation values of particular node of interest, no matter whether it is having maximum or minimum overall deformation?

       Is it possible to combine hex mesh, like we do for 2D elements?

     

    In my case, I have a layer of hex mesh, the elements of which have been split (every single element is split across all of its side using 3D>Split>Solid elements (split into hexa)pannel).

    Now I want to combine pairs of two elements within each layer separately.

    How is it possible.


  8. Sir,


         I have a component which is an assembly of 3 different parts. It's a torsional vibration damper consisting of inner mounting part and outer rim both composed of metal which bounded by a rubber part in between them.


      


         I want to perform a linear static analysis of the assembly with loads applied on the inner part and constraints applied on outer rim. I have meshed each part with perfect alignment with the adjacent part mesh at the contacting surfaces (so that the each node at the contacting surfaces will be commonly shared by the adjacent parts). The parts are meshed with solid mapping of 2nd order quad elements. Also I have checked that there are no free edges in between the parts contacting region. Being different parts (material), I have applied separate property collector to each one of them.


     


    What else should I need do to avoid an unconstrained linear static analysis simulation? I mean how do I convey the software (solver) that the inner and outer parts are bound mutually through the rubber?
