  3. Hi, When I output the element stress results for Von Mises stresses, how do I find the resultant of the stresses? All I see here are options to view the XX, YY, ZZ, XY, YZ and ZX stresses. I appreciate your help. After navigating as follows in the help menu, Optistruct -> Reference Guide -> Input Data -> I/O Options Section, I find this written in the comments at the bottom of the page: "The Von Mises and Principal stresses are not available for frequency response analyses." Does this mean I can't obtain these stresses using Altair's tools? I don't want my effort to go down as a lost cause. Thanks, Ginobili
  4. Thanks very much, Prakash. It helped in finding the elemental stresses. How do I find the nodal stresses? GPSTRESS says it outputs stresses at grid points. Are grid points and nodes the same?
  5. Hi, I am running a direct frequency response analysis in Optistruct. I have only managed to obtain the displacement-freq. and the phase-freq. graphs in Hypergraph. How do I obtain the stress distribution on the model? Does it have anything to do with the Control Cards? Thanks, Ginobili

  8. Hi Prakash and Rahul, I created a component for the point mass, created a node at its COM, assigned RBE3 attribute between dependent and independent nodes. After this, 1D -> Masses -> gave a mass value at the node, assigned a property collector (0_D Rigids) and chose the element type as CONM2. Also, in the property given, I used the PMASS card. Thanks!
  9. Hi, I am using point masses for an analysis and I get this error in the output file: "WARNING: PMASS ID 1 is not referenced." Can I ignore this message, considering that it is only a warning? The analysis even attained completion. How do I reference it, by the way? I have already assigned the PMASS and 0D Rigids properties. Am I missing something? Thanks, Ginobili
  10. Hi, I get this error when doing a harmonic analysis: "CARD frequency is required for this subtype". But where do I assign it? I chose RLOAD1 as the card image in the load collector panel. In the loadcase tab I set freq. resp (direct) as the type. There are hardly any tutorials available for harmonic analysis. Maybe an addition can be made to demo examples. Thanks, Ginobili

Does that mean I can assume that the contact is at least acceptable, and carry on without worrying about the effects on the results - in my case, normal modes - attributable to it? Furthermore, is there a method to check the quality of a contact in Optistruct? Thanks, Ginobili
  12. Hi Rahul, I am finding the forum really helpful. I used RBE3 to connect the point masses to the structural members, and assigned values using CONM2. How do I separate the non-design components - which in my case are the mounting points? How do I exclude them from the optimization process? Do I have to create spider rigids in bolt locations?
