  1. I don't know the use case or application for multiple material in size optimization.Attached is two setup for size optimization with stiffness & thickness parameter. I think if you have objective to do size optimization for five different material then you need to create design variable property relationship five times manually.   2. As mentioned in the above shared tip and trick,with older version you can do only linear analysis.Switching to latest version would help you to explore many new features of OptiStruct.

  6. Time varying convection Convection coefficients can be specified as time-dependent when a control node (CNTRLND) is specified on CONV card. The control node must be constrained by an SPCD, which is made time dependent by TLOAD1/TLOAD2. The convection coefficient is multiplied by the value from SPCD of control node. You could use Hypermesh interface to define this input.
  7. You have modelling issues in your model.There is no node to node connectivity between design and non design.Use free edges or faces option to clear same.

  14. So you are using true stress/strain curve & set up for MATS1 looks ok to me.To understand your issue in detail, we want some more information related to your model.(.out/.fem/.h3d file)

  16. For OptiStruct : Control cards: PFPANEL : OUTFILE Panel participation can be exported either into a H3D file or a PUNCH file. Please refer online help for more details.
  17. You could make use of LDM field in the load map to change the stress units.
  18. what is the method you define (Uni Axial or Multi Axial) & Stress combination. Please make sure to define the same FE model units which have for results.

Currently below solvers supported: OptiStruct, Nastran, Abaqus & Ansys Example if the converted h3d from d3plot, result contour is Von Mises, only von mises results will be present in the exported h3d, for all the time increments. ( there are chances the result type can also be renamed,and also miss the layer information in case of shells)So when this h3d is loaded in HyperLife, the necessary query information for the stress might not be available for the required calculation.
  20. Go to File > Export > Results. Select the “Deformed model” option. This option will allow to export the deformed model as STL, VRML and gda format.
  21. We don't see any issue as such related to the file size.Please give a try by clearing setting files mentioned in below post.
  22. As per OptiStruct user guide, thermal compliance must be assigned to a linear steady state heat transfer subcase.Since you have Thermo mechanical optimization setup,you could also try min mass or volume, subject to stress constraint or displacement constraint.
