  1. Hi, I'm new to tableview and have an question to ask. What is the code or function to get the plot header ? I know how to get the label of each curve in a plot, which is {p#w#c#.y.label}. I have tried many different things to get the plot header, but so far no success. I appreciate any thoughts/comments Thank you,
  2. I'm not sure what type of nonlinearites. What I know is that not all the beam element formulation is linear. So if we choose a nonlinear element formulation and apply it to the connection beam with RBE3, I was thinking what will happen to the results then. So What I get from your answer is that RVA has to be linear analysis. Is it right?
  3. Hi all, I'm trying to learn about the random vibration analysis. From what I know, RVA uses the modal superposition method as its basis. Since it uses the modal superposition, it implies that random vibration analysis is a linear dynamic analysis. Lets say if you have a model with two or more parts, and you define some connection (spot-welds or elastic beams Rbe3) for them. The connection usually will introduce nonlinearity into the system. So then, in the end, I'm guessing the analysis will output nonlinear solutions. The thing that I have trouble understanding is that how is it possible to start out with a linear analysis and end up with a nonlinear solutions? Doesn't the nonlinear random vibration analysis violate the superposition method that it uses as the basis? Any comments or tips would greatly appreciated. Regards,
  4. Hi, I'm doing a simulation for shock absorber test for the landing gear of the aircraft. I created the mesh in hyper mesh. there are two components:strut and piston. I used rigid material for both. Then, I created two rigid beams that are coincident in the centerline of the strut and piston. In LS-Prepost, I used constrained_rigid_bodies to constrain each beam to a component so I have a beam for strut and beam for piston. Then, I used Constrained_joint_translational to create a joint for the two beams. Since I just want to study the behavior of the joint, all my parts are rigid. I applied a fixed boundary on the strut and only allows Piston to move. this is a rough description of what I have prepared for my simulation. My problem appears when I tried to use constrained_joint_stiffness_translational in which I input a load curve ID for the force vs displacement. However every time I run my simulation, I realized that there are some thing wrong with this Load curve ID. For example, my load curve ID is for point 1(0,0), point 2(10,1000), point 3(15,3000). When I applied a load from 0 to 3000 at the joint node, I would get the displacement of 30. If I apply a load from 0 to 6000, then I get the displacement of 60. You get the idea. Even though I input many points for the load curve ID to create a non linear stiffness, only stiffness from the point 2 is effective, and the rest of points are not taking into account. I'm trying to get the load vs displacements graph that is supposed to be non linear. Can someone help me on this? My time step is 5E-7 and termination time is 0.1. I would really appreciate any help.   5. Hi, I am learning 3D meshing and was wondering the difference between the sub panel "tetra mesh" and "volume tetra." Can someone help me on that? My assumption is to use "volume tetra" when convert 2D object to 3D meshing, and to use "tetra mesh" when convert a solid 3d object to 3D meshing. Am I right? Thanks,

  7. Hi, I was practicing geometry cleanup on one of the tutorial models (clip_repair.hm) for tutorial HM-2000. I successfully cleaned up most of the free edges except for one.It is a free edge that forms a closed loop (missing surface). I used Geometry > Create > Surfaces > Spline/Filler, but it doesn't work. Any ideas on why it doesnt work? Thanks,
  8. Hi, I installed the Student version of Hyperwork. I was following HM tutorial (HM-1010: Opening and Saving File). I could import hm file and iges file, but i can't import fem file no matter what template I used. It says "Permission denied" every time I try. Could you let me know what could have been wrong? Thanks

  10. Hi, After viewing the 2D meshing web tutorials, I have a question regarding the midsurface. Do we always need to do the midsurface for 2D meshing? Can we just keep the original geometry and mesh it? As I am new to Hypermesh and learning 2D meshing, I am trying to outline the general steps. Thanks, Hoa
