  1. Mr Rahul. I tried to understand and follow the example you provided. I got the idea now. Just on the material part. Im still a bit confuse about the layer material properties. For the material properties like young's modulus, Poisson ratio, shear modulus and others, the value that I should input is the value from the tensile experiment in conducted right? Since I have to input the material for each layer, the data should be the one I got from the 4 layers of tensile test or only 1 layer of tensile test?

  4. Hi guys, Im currently working in composite modelling. So basically in 3D we model the composite plys as a single layer of 3D element regardless of material orientation and the number of ply layer. In my case, I am using (carbon fibre reinforced epoxy-CFRE) 4 layers of carbon fibre with epoxy as the matrix. Therefore, I can just apply a single material properties obtained from the tensile test of the combined material and assign the material under the PSOLID property. Am I correct about this statement? And in 2D modelling using the hypercomposite we are able to arrange the plys sequence and orientation. But how are we going to apply the material properties for each ply? can I use the material properties data obtained from the tensile test of 4 layers carbon fibre or I have to do tensile test for 1 layer of carbon fibre and assign the data to each ply? I'm confused about this. Please help.
  5. Im trying to model a simple plate structure with Carbon fiber reinforced epoxy (CFRE) as the material. This is the first time Im modelling composite so Im trying to get the idea. As far as I know, I need to use MAT8 for material properties. What are the properties that are crucially needed to key in the MAT8 card for normal mode analysis? For modelling, Im going to use 16 layers of carbon fibre fabric and epoxy as the matrix. When modelling the ply, each ply will be model as the composite of CFRE (16 plys of CFRE) or the ply need to be model seperately like carbon fiber and the matrix (16 plys carbon fiber and ply between the fiber for epoxy).
  6. @Prakash Pagadala This are the files. I have checked the .out file. There is no mass matrix written. Only stiffness.Can you please check the .fem file if there is anything wrong I made. Superelement.fem Superelement.out Superelement_AX.pch One more, I supposed to get this 2 output from the optistruct but I only get the DMIG (.pch) only. Not the H3D file.: 1.The successful run will have DMIG matrix (Super Element). 2.The successful run will also have H3D file (binary Super Element)
  7. @Prakash Pagadalaplease check your dropbox. I have sucessfully generate the .pch file. But there is no mass matrix (MAAX) in it. Only stiffness matrix (KAAX). Plus at the .out file, there is warning and problem on the CMSMETH. Can you please check the .fem file if there is anything wrong I made.
  8. Then I only used EIGRL load collector for normal modes load step, but I dont know what type of load step for CMSMETH load collector This is the error appear: Control cards "METHOD=n" are not allowed when CMSMETH card is present.
  9. I keep on getting this error . I used EIGRL and CMSMETH for load collector and Normal modes for load step Im not sure what type of load step use in the centilever example. Is it normal modes? for both EIGRL and CMSMETH load collector?
  10. For the grid data section in superelement, did I need to include the sub B grid also?
  11. I have been working on Craig-Bampton method for normal mode analysis in which I aim to get a faster computational time result for 16 modes. Until now I unable to do so. I tried to use all the information obtained from the internet, but I failed miserably since I have no idea how to do it. I'm working with superelement . Just a simple structure. One superelement and one residual. With this, I attached my explanation of the structure I'm working with.
