  2. This is my question. When using Hypergraph with my flexible multibody result, there is a variable name SE in my Flex_body/i of my readed .abf file (example flex_body/30116). I am not sure if its the total strain energy of my flexible model, the elemental strain energy or the strain energy density ? thank you Benjamin

  4. I am new with component mode synthesis and I am not sure which type to use ? Craig-Bampton (CB) or Craig-Chang (CC) ? I know that CB is a method that considers fixed interface component modes and CC, free interface component modes. Do you have example where I should use one or the other ? Thank you Benjamin

  6. Thank you. Can you give me more details about how the Q/i (modal participation factor) is calculated ? Normally, I suppose that I should have a sum of modal participation factors as close to 100 % as possible? Which parameters affect the most this participation factor ? I am trying to increase them.
  7. I am using the Flex Prep tool of Motionview to generate a flexible model in my multibody model (from a .fem of optistruct). At the end, I do not obtain high modal participation factors for selected modes. First 3 modes have a factor of 0.15, 0.05 and 0.03. After, it drops under 0.5%. I am looking to obtain a sum of participation factors close to 100%. Where should I investigate to increase those modal participation factors ? (Can you give me more details of how those participation factors are calculated ?) Thank you, Benjamin
  8. I have a MBD model with a flexible body. When I open Hypergraph for post-processing, there is "Flex_body/30116" in the Y Type. How can I know what the Y component (X, Y, Z, E0, E1,..., Q/7, Q/8, ..., SE, etc.) refer to ?? I am not able to find it in the documentation of motionview or in hypergraph. Thank you. Benjamin

  10. Hi, I want to make a DOE of a contact distance(design variable) between two plates. The contact surfaces are represented by the interface of the blue and pink components (in the uploaded file). I want to create a parameter from the green fracture area to the beginning of the 2 blue areas. Finally, I want to observe the stress inside the plates according to this distance. What would be the best way to create this design variable ? Is it possible to create a parameter on the geometry ? Is there a way to generate a new mesh with the appropriate contact ?   11. Thanks again ! In my model, I want to apply my stress constraint on 2D elements (PShell elements) of the 2 plates. Is that possible if my design variable is on 1D element (Pbeam elements) ? Another scenario would be to minimize the Stress of the 2D elements and having a constraint on the volume fraction response? Is that possible ? Benjamin
  12. Hi, I want to make a 1D topology optimization of two plates bolted together (PBEAM elements). There is 12 holes where bolt can be positioned. I want to find the best place where to put the bolts with a minimum number of 6 bolts. The objective is to minimize the Von Mises stress in one of the plate. I have difficulties to choose the right parameters, responses, constraints and objectives. It is like tutorial "OS-2040: Spot Weld Reduction using CWELD and 1D Topology Optimization ", but incorporing stress responses. Can you give me some hints / advices ? Thank you Benjamin
