  1. Hello Prakash, Yes I used the dconstraints panel but the panel only asks for 1 value instead of 3 (x,y,z). How can I define which coordinate it is when I enter a value? Thank you, Muge Candogan
  2. Hello, I am working on an optimization problem and COG is one of my constraints. The COG is defined in 3 ( x,y,z ) coordinates but while assigning the constraint, I am asked to enter only 1 value for upper and lower limit each. When I enter a value, how can I define which axis it will be applied to? Thanks, Muge Candogan
  3. In the error message it says element 917177 is used in both PLY 2 and PLY 12 however when I review the sets I can't find such element. I also checked other plies, this element is not in any of them. Is it possible that error message is giving a wrong element number? Thanks, Muge Candogan
  4. Hi Prakash, How can I locate the shared elements and how can I eliminate those in one of the plies? Thanks, Muge Candogan
  5. I shared the model file, thank you very much. Muge Candogan
  6. Hello Prakash, Thank you for your reply. I tried recreating PLY 2 but I am still getting the same error message. I also double checked and made sure that each ply has a set. Any other recommendation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much, Muge Candogan
  7. Hello, I am receiving this following error message: ERROR # 605 Element 917177 is referenced by STACK 1 (on PLY 2) and by STACK 2 (on PLY 12) simultaneously. I looked at previous topics about this error message and checked the stacks to make sure the same ply is not used in both stack 1 and 2. But I am still having difficulty in finding and changing the ply property of the element in the error message. Does anyone know how I should proceed to solve this error? Thank you Muge
  8. Hello Prakash, Since you said the C.G location will be based on coordinates (on x,y,z planes), I was wondering if I should select a 0,0,0 point as reference on the geometry to identify C.G coordinates based on that? Or, is there a tool that does this automatically? Thanks, Muge
  9. Hi Prakash, How can I define a reference point to determine the coordinates in HyperMesh? Thanks, Muge
  10. Hello, I am working on an optimization problem of a blade. One of my constraints will be centre of gravity. I would like to keep the cog at 1/4 of the chord. I am having trouble in understanding how to define the upper and lower limits of cg. Should they be the coordinates? If so on whicj plane and how can I define the reference point to find out what the coordinates are? Thank you, Muge
  11. Hello, I am running lattice optimization on certain shapes that I would like to 3D print. I was wondering if a separate tool or software is required/can be used to make the obtained lattice structure manufacturable? What would be the method for manufacturing the varying lattice densities? Thank you, Muge Candogan
  12. It worked when I constrained all dofs. Thank you, Muge Candogan
  13. Hello, I am trying to run linear buckling analysis on a structure that I created in HyperWorks. I am getting a very accurate critical buckling load result when I apply a load of 100 N. However I get a Gram-Schmidt Reorthogonalization error when: 1) The applied load is 1000 N or 10 N (I tried multiple times, I am getting an error if the load is different than 100 N) 2) When I scale the geometry to cm's. (The model consists of nodes 10 mm apart from each other, connected with rod elements. The total length is 200 mm, the total height is 20 mm) What could be the reason for getting this error? I am confused as the error occurs both when I increase and decrease the load. Thanks, Muge Candogan
  14. Hi @Prakash Pagadala Thank you so much for your response. Another question that confuses me is: During the analysis and optimization, I am supposed to keep the length to diameter ratio greater than or equal to 10. How can I implement this as a constraint? Thank you in advance, Muge Candogan
  15. Hello, I am trying to run topology optimization on rod elements. The optimization response would be buckling. I have two questions: 1) I am not clear about the upper and lower constraints for buckling response. Are they buckling load factors? What should I consider to define such constraint for buckling? 2) During the analysis and optimization, I am supposed to keep the length to diameter ratio greater than or equal to 10. How can I implement this as a constraint? Thank you in advance, Muge Candogan
  16. Hello Prakash, thank you for your response. I am wondering based on which parameter the software optimizes the geometry, if I don't have any constraints. Thanks, Muge Candogan
  17. Hello, I have tried running a topology optimization on a simply supported beam. I defined the objective as min. mass but did not introduce any stress or deformation constraints. And the optimization gave results. Is it possible to run a topology optimization without constraints? Then based on which parameter the software optimizes the structure, does it automatically introduce constraints by itself? Thank you, Muge Candogan
  18. That solved the problem! Thank you so much!!
  19. I am trying tetra meshing, however, only the top part can be meshed, I can't get any results for the rest of the geometry.
  20. I also tried volume tetra but it did not work either, could it be because I need to edit the geometry? Thanks, Muge
  21. Thank you so much for your responses. I am attaching the file. Is there an easier way that you would recommend, such as tetra mesh? If so how should I proceed with it? Thank you, Muge Candogan model.hm
  22. Hello Rahul, Thank you very much for your quick response. I am trying to create hex elements with solid mapping. Since the geometry is complex, would there be an easier way to mesh that you recommend? I am also sharing the hm. file to your dropbox. Thank you very much, Muge Candogan
  23. Hello, I am trying to 3D mesh this model with solid mapping. I have already tried 'toggle edges' and 'trim with surf'. I have also tried to divide the circular plate (top plate) into small pieces by connecting the nodes, however, I was not able to split any surfaces. I am not exactly sure which edges I should toggle and how I should get rid of the narrow surfaces between the rectangular (side) surfaces, to make the model mappable? Thank you, Muge Candogan
  24. Hello, I am running modal analysis on a helicopter model that has both 2D and 3D elements. I created rigid links and applied mass at the middle node (to represent the lithium ion batteries) however I am not sure which card image to assign for the rigis links and the mass. I tried PMASS and got an error. When I take out the rigids and the masses, I can run the analysis without problem. Thank you in advance, Muge
