  1. Hello, I am currently working on a model that I run in SIMLAB as an optimization. The reason i didn't do it directly on inspire is because of the bolt connection and pretension i need to apply at those bolts, which i think is not possible to do in Inspire. So i heard about the new polinurbs FIT feature, that also works with an imported mesh. But when i import the isosurface .stl file from simlab optimization and start to smooth and fit the organic topology design, i lost the connection between my design and not design space. From the tutorials, which are all in inspire optimizations, this does not seem to happen, even if you apply this polinurbs functions. Is there anyway for me to smooth and fit the topology design with polinurbs without loosing the connection between the design or non-design space? Is it only possible if i setup the optimization within Inspire?
  2. Is there any way to do this scale factor to the coefficient? Because in my case that is changing with the car's speed. The fluid temperature is kept the same. Best regards, Diogo
  3. Hello, I am studying the assembly of the brake system to evaluate the temperatures over time, of the system. I have defined inital temperatures, thermal contacts between the assembly and all the relevant heat inputs in the disc brake and the brake pads surfaces.. Now i am stuck in defining the convection loads.. If i use a constant convenction film coefficient the results are fine and admissable, but i open the option Time dependent load, and then i start filling the table points the the time and the amplitude of the load. Does this amplitude acts upon the film coefficient or upon the film temperature. I want it to act on the film coefficient and i decided to use the value 1 on the film coefficient and use the table as a scale factor. The values stoped making sense when i did that. Can anybody help me with that? I am using Simlab 2019.2 On the image below you can se me using the film coefficient of 5e-6, because my units are W/mm^2.C for the coefficient to give correct values. In the table i used the scale factor compared to the defined value. Does that scale factor acts on the temperature or film coefficient?

  5. Hi @Prakash Pagadala Thanks a lot by your answer! My point of mine first doubt is should i trust more the hyperview results of size optimization, or more the analysis of the _shuffling.fem of SZTOSH card? Because they give diferente values of composite failure

Hi there, Im looking for some help to understand the differences between the results from the size optimization, in the displacement and failure index, between the result from the analysis and the result from the optimization itself (the ones that you see in Hyperview when you choose to observe the last iteration). Does it make sense to have reasonable values in the last iteration results for the load case, and when i import the" _shufflingX.fem" and run the analysis again, the results are different and do not agree with my boundary conditions?   7. I'll figure it out a way od doing it manually but not having to worry a lot about symmetry. I treat half ply only, then go edges-findedges, I reflect the edges for the other side of mono and then I select elements on the other side carefully to stick inside the edge lines, so it can be as symmetric as possible Thanks a lot anyway!   8. Hi there, I have a free size optimization to my composite structure, so i am now in the phase of dealing with the ply bundles created. I have already defined a constraint of symmetry on the free size optimization, so the ply bundles are already symmetric. But i want to work on that plies to make it more manufacturable and easy to cut the plies. But once i start messing with the element selection to make the more square like i start to lost my symmetry. Can i like treat the ply on only one side of the structure and then mirror the selection to the other side, not the elements because that would be against the mesh of the model, because the mesh it´s not exactly symmetric. Otherwise, the only way i see it its two work on both sides manually and try to garantee a little of symmetry I attached some pictures, so you can see what i am dealing with. 1-model 2-ply bundle from free size with symmetry 3- half ply 4- treatment and the mirror that what i want to do

  10. Hi guys. Yeasterday i was running a free size optimization with stack card, so im working with composites. I already have done optimizations like these, but the free size always creates my 4 plies for each ply i define at the beggining. This time, the optimization is only creating 2 plies for each defined early. Is there any option where i can change this?

  12. Can i create a BEAM with a variable arbitary section? I mean, i heard that if i use PBEAML properties i can define a variation of the cross section, at least with the standard cross sections (BAR, BOX, BOX1, CHAN, CHAN1, CHAN2, CROSS, H, HAT, I, I1, L, ROD, T, T1, T2, TUBE, or Z), but i wanted to model that beam with a octagonal cross section and with variable octagon size. I´ve been messing with the propertie but so far didnt find anything. Can you help me?
