    Numbers of iteration result

    Thanks, I'm sharing with dropbox.

    Numbers of iteration result

Hello, I apologize for the trivial question but can someone tell me what the number of iterations depends on in a linear static analysis with optistruct? In the Carm tutorial for an LSA the software creates many iterations, in my case, it does not create (just one). Thanks in advance

    Linear Static Analysis mistake

Thank you very much Prakash Pagadala, can I convert the temp nodes into preserved nodes without having to reapply the forces? Thank you

    Contact Surfaces Error

Hello Rahul R and thank you for your answer, could you please explain how to define these settings? Thanks. Alberto

    Contact Surfaces Error

Hello, checking the file before launching the analysis I found surface contact errors: WARNING # 4735 No contact element is created for CONTACT 1 at the start of analysis. SRCHDIS if the contact is not for finite / continuous-sliding (TRACK = FINITE / CONSLI) with large displacement analysis. WARNING # 4782 CONTACT interface 1 has 9128 Slave faces that belong to Master surface, indicating likely self-contact condition. Contact us. INFORMATION # 4739 The structure of surface-to-surface contact element is quite different than that of node-to-surface contact element. No internal CGAP / CGAPG elements are created for surface-to-surface contact. NOTES # 9199 MSGLMT = STRICT is active, all messages will be printed. MSGLMT = BRIEF or UNREF (in config file or in the input data). Could anyone please provide or check how to rectify the error. Thanks in advance. 20181210 - THN Node 3.out

    Linear Static Analysis mistake

Hi Prakash Pagadala, I confused the Element Density page with the stress page. However, in the stress analysis, the results include the hubs that were instead set with on DESIGN properties. Can you tell me what am I doing wrong in the settings? Can you show me where I can find some topology optimization example to follow (I have just seen the tutorial by Altair) in which I can find more complex work and different from the common tutorial? Thank you very much 20181209 - THN Node 3.mvw 20181209_-_THN_Node_3.hm 20181209_-_THN_Node_3_s1.h3d
  7. Hello everyone, I'm working on my thesis on the optimization of a steel spatial node, I'm using Optistruct to do topological optimization. I followed the tutorial of "carm" element and a ran the analysis. The volume doesn't show different stresses inside, so I think I'm making some mistake in the setting. Can someone tell me where I'm wrong? Thank you.

Errors in the analysis of Optistruct due to the modeling

Thank you very much for your support. I'll check it immediately. Thanks

Errors in the analysis of Optistruct due to the modeling

My thesis deals with researching a new organic form optimized for additive manufacturing. The initial spatial node has the geometry shown in the images. I started from a sphere to see how tensions spread. Do you think that what I have adopted up to now is a wrong approach?

Errors in the analysis of Optistruct due to the modeling

The inner sphere should be a hole, the extended cylinders were used to cut the hubs in the proper path, are them elements of disturbance for analysis? I thought it was not necessary to eliminate them to proceed with a model check. Anyway, I tried to delete the surfaces in excess and run the analysis, but the same error appears.

Errors in the analysis of Optistruct due to the modeling

Hello Premanand Suryavanshi, no, I didn't. Can you explain me how can I separate this two kinds of mesh in order to delete them? Is correct to follow this path: delete Panel, element selector, choose by config and select config type TRIA 3? Thank you

Errors in the analysis of Optistruct due to the modeling

Sorry, I forget to share it. I'm sending the model file just right now. Thank you so much.
  13. Hi everyone. I'm working on my final thesis on the optimization of a steel spatial node, I used Hypermesh to define a larger volume to use Optistruct to do topological optimization. In the modeling, I have defined separate rigid hubs that will define the arrival bolts of the reticular rods, so that they will not have to be optimized but which have the function of applying the forces, to which I have set RBE2 constraints. I have not defined any contact surface between the hubs and the hollow sphere (probably an error). In the upper hub, I set a fixed constraint, the only one in the whole model with all 6 dof. I set axial forces to the axes of the hubs (at the point of definition of the RBE2) to check if the model was correct with a linear static analysis with optistruct. Unfortunately, it gives me error. I do not know where I'm wrong. Can someone tell me where I'm wrong? Thank you.

    Trim with line

Hello, I'm finding some problems using the command "Trim with line": in the tutorial after using that, the solid part trimmed is separated from the original one, so it can be Organized in a new component. In my case, I trim successfully the part but is still united to the bigger one ( if I switch off the component it disappear completely). Someone can said me what I'm doing wrong? Thank you. Alberto

How to manage the model of a truss

Thanks for the advices, I'm already trying to follow the ebook but sometimes external suggestions are useful to avoid wrong choices. The example you told me is what I need.
