  1. I found this topic, could this the reason for my doubt?
  2. Hello, I've done a Topology Optimization of a steel node, the material set is Steel S355JR. Running the analysis with Minimize Mass and SF = 1,05 I would expect a maximum value of no more than 355MPa*1,05= 338 MPa. The tensions obtained however exceed this value. 1048 MPa. Someone can help me to understand, please. Thanks.
  3. Hello, I'm trying to use the useful tool PolyNURBS of Inspire to redesign the object after the analysis. I have some trouble with the cyclic symmetry that I have to follow, the complex connections in the middle and the fixing with the external cylinders. Do you have some suggestions to follow in this particular step? Does exist some tool to use? Each time I try to edit the polynurbs the program gives me the error "The following part contains self-intersecting geometry. Use the PolyNURBS to fix the geometry." Thank you very much for the support
  4. Hello everyone, I've just a simple question about the Inspire's optimization algorithm: is it the same used by Optistruct in Hypermesh's analysis? Where can I find optimization algorithms of Inspire? I'm looking for math formulas. In which ebook or User Guide should I look for? Thanks in advance Alberto
  5. Sorry for the late answer, I resolve the problem using the boolean operation.
  6. Hello, I would like to import an initial geometry from Autocad to Inspire: I saved the file in .igs/.iges as solid but when I try to import into Inspire the geometry is a surface. Can anyone tell me how to get a volume? In a second moment, I discovered that when I try to import solid geometry with some surfaces, the solid loses volume and becomes a surface too. I could be possible that different kind of geometry imported in the same model ( lines, surfaces, and volumes) do they create the problem? Thank you.
  7. Hello, I was working on a topology optimization and I found *** ERROR # 557 *** DRESP1 2 is not referenced above the first SUBCASE. This type of response must be specified above the first SUBCASE. This error occurs in DESSUB 2. I read some topics but I didn't understand how to fix the problem. Could you kindly help me understand? Thanks in advance. Alberto
  8. Hello, I found the same error: *** ERROR # 557 *** DRESP1 2 is not referenced above the first SUBCASE. This type of response must be specified above the first SUBCASE. This error occurs in DESSUB 2. I read the topic but I didn't understand how to fix the problem. Could you kindly help me understand? Thanks in advance. Alberto
  9. Matthieu Pupat thanks, it was my fear. I'll try to download the last Inspire version.
  10. Hello Matthieu Pupat and thanks for your answer, I'm working on Inspire 2017.3.2 and the graphic drivers are VMware SVGA 3D ( I'm using VMware Fusion version 11.0.2 on MacBook Pro). I've run Windows, VMware, and even the Mac updates. Any advice? Thank you very much.

  12. Hello, I'm trying to set a tologic optimization in Inspire, I've set the fasteners and when I try to define pressure on any surface the program shutdown without any message. The problem persists trying to set it on a simple solid. Any suggestions? Thanks. Alberto
  13. Hi everyone, I'm working on a topology optimization in order to print the steel element with a 3D printer. I'm looking for some specifics Altair documentation to understand which manufacturing constraints I need to set and how, and other constraints in detail. Thank you in advance. Alberto
  14. Hello, I'm new in the HW platform and I'm trying to set properly a topologic optimization. I'm looking for some .pdf wich explain me the Hyperview's interface, icon by icon. Thank you a lot.
  15. Hello, I would like to set up a topological analysis of a structural element so that Optistruct "eliminates" material/volume until a stressed limit is reached. In the topological analysis of a Carm.hm for example, I have the stress path and I can modify with a slider the density of the material, but I'd like to know If is possible the program to remove volume step by step until a minimum volume is requested that is solicited at most. Can you tell me how to do it? Thanks in advance
  16. Hello Rahul R, thanks for your answer, the problem is design objective. Now another problem born shown in the image, but there is no objective folder. Where am I doing wrong? Thank you
  17. Hello, checking the model before running the analysis there was a fatal error: "*** ERROR # 583 *** Missing objective, DESGLB and DESSUB data must be used together with an objective function defined by DESOBJ, MINMAX, or MAXMIN." In this forum, I've found this but I don't understand how to solve the problem. Someone can help me, please? Regards
  18. Hello, I apologize for the trivial question but can someone tell me what the number of iterations depends on in a linear static analysis with optistruct? In the Carm tutorial for an LSA the software creates many iterations, in my case, it does not create (just one). Thanks in advance
  19. Thank you very much Prakash Pagadala, can I convert the temp nodes into preserved nodes without having to reapply the forces? Thank you
  20. Hello Rahul R and thank you for your answer, could you please explain how to define these settings? Thanks. Alberto
  21. Hello, checking the file before launching the analysis I found surface contact errors: WARNING # 4735 No contact element is created for CONTACT 1 at the start of analysis. SRCHDIS if the contact is not for finite / continuous-sliding (TRACK = FINITE / CONSLI) with large displacement analysis. WARNING # 4782 CONTACT interface 1 has 9128 Slave faces that belong to Master surface, indicating likely self-contact condition. Contact us. INFORMATION # 4739 The structure of surface-to-surface contact element is quite different than that of node-to-surface contact element. No internal CGAP / CGAPG elements are created for surface-to-surface contact. NOTES # 9199 MSGLMT = STRICT is active, all messages will be printed. MSGLMT = BRIEF or UNREF (in config file or in the input data). Could anyone please provide or check how to rectify the error. Thanks in advance. 20181210 - THN Node 3.out
  22. Hi Prakash Pagadala, I confused the Element Density page with the stress page. However, in the stress analysis, the results include the hubs that were instead set with on DESIGN properties. Can you tell me what am I doing wrong in the settings? Can you show me where I can find some topology optimization example to follow (I have just seen the tutorial by Altair) in which I can find more complex work and different from the common tutorial? Thank you very much 20181209 - THN Node 3.mvw 20181209_-_THN_Node_3.hm 20181209_-_THN_Node_3_s1.h3d
  23. Hello everyone, I'm working on my thesis on the optimization of a steel spatial node, I'm using Optistruct to do topological optimization. I followed the tutorial of "carm" element and a ran the analysis. The volume doesn't show different stresses inside, so I think I'm making some mistake in the setting. Can someone tell me where I'm wrong? Thank you.
  24. Thank you very much for your support. I'll check it immediately. Thanks
