  1. Dear Experts, I am looking to model induced voltage/current in a simple conductive closed loop which is in the vicinity of a high power carrying conductor. I've not been able to reliably model this scenario in FLUX. Any recommendation would he highly appreciated. Moreover, I believe FLUX is software of choice considering that the frequency is at 60 Hz (Power frequency). Since this is a time varying phenomenon, I believe transient magnetic is the choice for physics. Please advise Thanks and Best Regards Balaji

  3. @Abdessamed, unfortunately, I believe there's some dependency on the 2018 version to collaborate with my colleagues. I've learnt that flux models are not back ward compatible so I am a little apprehensive to update to newer version. I would however explore and work with Altair hw support team to have two versions installed in my computer. Thanks again for the advise Balaji

  5. @Abdessamed , I believe these are warnings. If you notice the name at the top of the window in my snapshots it says 'Warning'. Also these came after all time steps of the magnetic transient simulation are completely run. I could view the iso plots, 2D curves for all time steps without any problem. So that means the simulation did not stop in between. Unfortunately, I cannot share my file due to restrictions. However, I could create a dummy project run it and see if I get these warnings. If I get the warnings again, I can share the project with you.
  6. I have been receiving the following warning messages towards the end of my 3D transient magnetic simulations. I don't know what to make out of these messages. Would anyone please kindly advise how to decode these and understand how these effect my simulation results. Have a great day Balaji
  7. Hi @Abdessamed , Would you please advise if there is a tutorial or an example wherein this non meshed coil is used to represent a closed loop. I have been using it as follows. The tube at the center is the coil conductor to which I assigned the non meshed coil. Is this the acceptable and right way using a non meshed coil? If So, Does this represent a loop created by the coil conductor along the non meshed coil? Please advise.

I believe it takes at-least a couple of iterations to get the right size of infinite box for a given geometry. Glad I learnt that. I have now come to appreciate that infinite box size is entirely dependent on the geometry and physics. Thank you very much for your guidance again. Have a wonderful day ahead Balaji
  9. Hi, I have come to learn that, in Flux 3D simulation results vary drastically with change in infinite box size. This, I think may be due to change in mesh. Are there any guidelines in terms of what an ideal mesh setting should be and/or what an ideal infinite box size should be for a typical 3D simulation? In my models, I have been using 'Mesh Domain' option to mesh the geometry. Please advise. Best Regards Balaji

  13. @Abdessamed Yes, Thanks for answering. Unfortunately, I beg your pardon, That is not my question. My question is about loop area. In the above example, a closed loop is created when cylinder in 3D is connected to a circuit element. What is the area of this closed loop? If the closed loop is rectangular in shape then the area would be length * breadth. Where-in length could be length of the solid conductor which is 100mm. My question is what is the breadth?   14. Dear all, My question is pertaining to loop area in Altair FLUX 3D. I have a solid conductor of 100mm length in 3D finite element space. Now, In electrical circuit space I grounded this solid conductor with a ground element. What is the loop area of this setup? please advise.   15. @Abdessamed Thank you very much for your kind response. However, I am looking for connection between the equipotential terminals and physics regions (faces of geometries). For example: Lets assume, I have 'face 1' and 'face 2' of a volume region named 'CC' and equipotential terminals of stranded coil conductor named 'T1G' and 'T2G'. Now, The electrical terminals of the volume region would be named automatically as 'CC_INPUT' and 'CC_OUTPUT'. To make connections, I can now go to Physics -> 'Assign coil conductor components to regions' and assign 'CC_INPUT' to 'face 1' and 'CC_OUTPUT' to 'face 2'. Now the Question is , Where do I link 'T1G' to 'CC_INPUT' and 'T2G' to 'CC_OUTPUT'? is this link already made? if so how do I view/verify the link? Final combination am looking for is 'face 1' Linked to 'CC_INPUT' Linked to 'T1G' and 'face 2' linked to 'CC_OUTPUT' linked to 'T2G' Please kindly advise Balaji
  16. @Abdessamed , I am more or less in the same boat as @EmSt was. I have built the geometry from scratch myself. I am however confronted with many geometric defects pertaining to LINE_LINE_OVERLAY, FACE_LINE_INTERSECTION, LINE_LINE_INTERSECTION and POINT_POINT_SUPERIMPOSED. The Help documentation is not descriptive enough to solve each of these problems. Any help would he highly appreciated.
  17. Thank you very much @Abdessamed for your advise. I too have found out that I need to use solid conductor region. I also intend to use circuit elements containing both Solid conductors and coil conductors. I am however unable to track (view/verify) the coil conductor connections between Equipotential terminals (In Electric Circuit) and Electric terminals (in Physics--> regions). Naming convention in Physics-> Regions -> Electric terminal has *INPUT and *OUTPUT where as naming convention in Electric Circuit->Equipotential has *Terminal1* and *Terminal2*. How do I know which Terminal is connected to INPUT/OUTPUT. This problem however does not exist for solid conductor as the naming convention of equipotential terminals and Electric terminals are linked. Would you please kindly help me resolve this issue?   19. Hi , I am currently looking to simulate and calculate induced voltage and current on a passive copper conductor due to a parallel current carrying conductor. Medium between the conductors is air. I am seeking for help to locate any Flux based examples or documentation or videos or presentations dealing with this scenario. If none available, please kindly provide some guidance interms of what application to use? what conductor properties? How to create a closed loop? is it accurate in 2D or 3D simulation?   21. Am currently exploring how to integrate components into my ProMan simulation model. I've learnt that cables can only be connected between two existing components using mouse pointer. I am however finding it difficult (oftentimes frustrating) to understand couple of error messages that keep popping up when I try connect splitters -splitters , splitters-antennas etc., 1) Could not connect cable, not enough exits available on components and 2) Cannot connect cable, connection would cause a closed circuit I suppose I may need some tutoring on basic fundamentals that govern cable connection principles. I could not find much help in ProMan user guide. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great day Balaji

  23. Thanks a lot @mvogel. Disabling elevation profile removed the topological data in WallMan. However, I was getting the following errors in WallMan when I try to open the .ida file using File ->open database. (regardless of checking or un-checking elevation data) Error 252 Shape of Building not found in database Warning 1023: No wall of the data base considered (not inside WALL BOX) Material ID of Wall 9 is not allowed! Set to default material! Material ID of Wall 10 is not allowed! Set to default material! and so on for many walls. Please kindly advise where may I have made misstep in building tunnel and defining materials in TuMan. Thank you very much Balaji
  24. @mvogel, Thank you for the document. I simulated a two antenna system with and without DAS. I could observe the variation in signal strength between without interference (same signal group, no MIMO) and with interference (same signal group, with MIMO). I hope I saw what I intended to observe. In addition to this, as I learn more about DAS, I learnt that DAS architecture contains a Base station connected through an RF coax cable to a DAS head end equipment called master unit which is in turn connected to multiple remote units through fiber optic cables. These remote units are further connected to many distributed set of antennas. Please advise if I may be able to simulate this architecture with help of Winprop (Wallman, Aman, Proman and Compoman).
