  1. Hi, I have seen this picture in Altair help. what happen to internal energy in this graph, why suddenly drop s and increase again.. what are the causes for this issue ? I
  2. Hi, I performing a modal transient analysis. My concern is , the part shall be subjected to a half-sine shock of peak acceleration of 50g and pulse duration of 8 milliseconds. For both the tested-device shall be subjected to three shocks in positive x axis and 3 shocks in Negative Y axis in all three directions. Total of 18 shocks. Usually in lab only one part should be tested for all 18 shocks I have created proper load step for modal transient analysis for second load step i have called 1st load step by using STATUS(PRELOAD) and so on I am facing this error. *** ERROR # 1999 *** in the input data: In SUBCASE 2: card STATSUB(PRELOAD) references wrong type SUBCASE 1. *** ERROR # 1999 *** in the input data: In SUBCASE 3: card STATSUB(PRELOAD) references wrong type SUBCASE 2. *** ERROR # 2360 *** STATSUB(PRELOAD) cannot be nested: SUBCASE 3 PRELOAD from SUBCASE 2.
  3. Hi, I have done Vibration fatigue analysis, output of frf analysis are input of Fatigue analysis. i have given sweep rate in oct per min(in FATLOAD) for fatigue analysis.. My requirement is the part should with stand for 3 hours(i.e 180 min) In out put results what does it mean by life? No.of cycles/minutes/hours? If life is in No.of cycles How we can say the whether the part with stand for 3 Hours or not? I think that output life is in minutes(As we mentioned Sweep rate in octave per minutes)? Am i right?

  6. Hi, In fatigue analysis post processing what we need to check usually Damage or Life or Both. In my simulation Damage is 0.05. And Life varies from 54 to 10e6. What does it mean by 54 in life?Is this 54 associated with damage or not?

  10. if i input acceleration in mm/s2 in tabled1 card i am getting high displacement
  11. Hi, I am going to perform a Direct Transient Structural analysis..My units for the given model (material and sectional properties) are in ton,mm,sec.. I want to give excitation as acceleration in analysis.. In real scenario, usually every body is subjected to certain G's(m/s2)...here it doesn't matter whether we considered metres or mm.. while coming to simulation in test standards they have mentioned in m/s2....is it required to convert m/s2 to mm/s2 or not? My query is here Acceleration to be mentioned as input in m/s2 or mm/s2?

  13. Hi Altair, Need to simulate modal and FRF Analysis. In my model around 20 componets are just resting on a metal plate... In this case can we create tie contact between those mating regions..
  14. I am running a linear static analysis..where i given a Tie contact between two solid bodies..in the output results the stress results are different on master and slave surface..why? Usually we will get same stress on master and slave interface in linear static analysis, is it right? and can we see tie contact force in linear static analysis?
