  3. Hi Mr. Abdessamed, Thank you for your reply and checking the model I sent you. I was wondering if you could help me to use my material properties. I have used the material properties reported in the tutorial Mr. Zidat sent me. The B(H) was okay and also there was no error. I tried to use the same procedure for the new PM materials which I shared the BH curves. For PM_1 there was an error which said "The computation of Js is not possible with these input values. Please check the values that define the B(H) model". For the PM_2, there was no error but when I tried to get the B(H) using your model, I got the wrong B(H). I would be really thankful if you could give me any suggestion to overcome these problems. Kind regards, Mostafa

  6. Hi, Yes, I have the material characteristics. I put the ... of both PM_1 and PM_2. I have tried to plot the characteristics of PM_2 using the flux file you sent me, the obtained result was not correct. I think there is problem in the parameters I considered for the materials.

I have faced a warning which does not allow me to solve the scenario. checkPhysic executed The computation of Js is not possible with these input values. Please check the values that define the B(H) model. The magnet properties were inserted in FluxMotor>materials part as I attached the screen of magnetic properties tab.   9. Hi, I have a question on evaluation demagnetization using Altair Flux. There are some guide in the software and I have read all of them including: 1- software help part entitled "How to use “Evaluation of the demagnetization” in Flux?" 2- in "Altair\2019\flux\Extensions\Macros\Macros_Flux2D_Physics\RunDemagnetization2D.PFM" 3- a video on YouTube "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_wk_Mvpa5U " different methods have been explained in these references, and they are not clear at least for me. In the first method, it is mentioned that the nonlinear properties of the magnet should be inserted, the second one, both linear and nonlinear can be considered, and in the third way, there is another denitrification. What are the differences between these methods (1 and 2)? First of all, I would like to know which graph you mean by nonlinear (the red one as shown in the following picture), if yes can you explain why and how flux calculate the working points? and if the green one is the correct, a the (Bi, Hi) of this line should be considered as a nonlinear? How can see the effect of demagnetization on the machine performance (torque, magnet loss, ...)? Does the flux use the nonlinear model for PM loss calculation or the PM loss should be calculated by inserting resistivity of the PM? Would you please explain about this more or provide any help which I can use for my work. How can I used the third approach? When I use the PM properties, I have faced error related to the value of "transversal relative permeability". As I asked before, Mr. Abdessamed said that it was like air and I could use "1", but I couldn't use this number in my model. I would be really thankful if you could explain more about this.   11. Hi Thank you for you guidance. I have done the same but there is a problem related to the time of simulation. I think there is a problem in the model because without considering the "PM loss using solid conductors" the simulation time was around 2 hours (102 steps) but considering the "PM loss using solid conductors" has been taken around 5 days just for 5 steps. Is the problem related to mesh? Can you guide me to solve the problem and speed up the simulation time? Yours faithfully,
  12. Hi This is a very good presentation on meshing. I have a question on meshing axial flux machines. How to used layered meshed in this case properly to get the correct value for the cogging torque? A short explanation on the model: for modeling the airgap, I divided the airgap into two, rotating and static. I have drawn the geometry as follow, the dynamic airgap is connected to the PMs (the white volume), and the static airgap hasn't drawn specifically, and it is considered as the rest of air (the volume inside the infinite box). I think this the same has been considered in the example of the software too.

  14. Dear Sir/madam, I have simulated a machine and used Bertotti and LS model for calculating the losses. I can not understand why the waveform of the loss is like that, specially the negative values. I would be really thankful if you could explain the reason of this. Best regards,

  16. Hi It is not something complicated, you just need to model one slot and one pole and define a mirror transformation. Then you just need to propagate the slot and pole. you can use the example of tutorial and modify it. In addition, in the modeler you can easily model the machine in 3D directly, or if you don not need to perform sensitivity analysis on the geometrical parameters, you can draw the model in any CAD software and import your model.   17. Hi Thank you so much for your quick response. Maybe I did not explain the problem properly. I just use one type of material for PM and used different way to model it and see the impact of demagnetization on the machine performance. I had expected to get the similar results in all models in case there is no demagnetization (I used one type of magnet with the same properties, just I considered different way to model the PM materials, a very simple way to consider Br and Ur (linear) and complete demagnetization curve (nonlinear)) . However, the obtained torque for for the nonlinear condition was more than 2 times of the linear material. I know about the working point in the PMs but the thing I would like to know is that flux considers this in nonlinear condition. and how we can study demagnetization in a correct way.   18. Dear Sir/Madam, I am simulating a machine considering three ways of defining the materials for PMs to see the impact of demagnetization on the machine performance. In the first simulation, I considered the linear characteristics for the magnet, the second one I used nonlinear magnet described by Hc and Br modules, and last one nonlinear magnet described by a spline. The obtained torque in these models are different. Why? How does the working points of the magnet is defined in the nonlinear condition? How can I calculate the "Transversal relative permeability "???

  20. Dear Sir/Madam, I have question about defining a new geometry on FluxMotor. Is it possible to define dummy slot for the geometry? I have tried to edit the slot design (the source file=excel file) but I couldn't do that. In general, is it possible to define extra points and lines for the model? Can you help me for this?   21. Dear sir/madam, I have tried to model a 24slots/38poles PMSM machine in FluxMotor. But the software does not accept combination Q<0.25. I have attached the example in FluxMotor, and winding information. Considering the advance part for the winding, it should not be a problem to define the winding.   23. To explain the work, I want to model the short circuit on SynRM and PM-assisted SynRM machines. For each study, I need current to do signal analysis. I am aware that a proper way might be the co-simulation with MATLAB. However, as you know it would take a very long time to get the results with desired accuracy. A friend of mine has simulated SynRM machine using voltage source and gotten good results compared with experimental test. He used imposed speed and set the internal and external characteristic of the mechanical set. Is it correct to use the way my friend used for PM-assisted SynRM too? Unfortunately, I do not know how to set these numbers. I was wondering if you could give a reference for it. In addition, I have doubt whether this method is working for my study. Can you tell me whether there is any other way to do these studies? Thank you so much in advance to read my questions and for your help.
  24. I used Flux for all my simulations (the version is 2018). I run the simulation using current source, and after that calculated the voltage of the current source. I used the voltage in a voltage source and I expected that I get the value of my previous simulation with current source but the difference was very high. Let me ask you something general related to my problem. How can I model eccentricity/short circuit faults using Flux and get the current for motor Current signal analysis? I know that maybe my question is very general and it may not be a good question.
  25. Hi I have simulated my model using the current source and get the right answer compare to my reference. I need to use voltage source to model my motor and get the current for fault analysis (eccentricity/short circuit faults). When I used voltage source, I can't get the expected results and the current is extremely high. What is the solution to solve it?
