Hello Altair community, I am working on performing a modal analysis in HyperMesh and am having trouble figuring out how to shorten the ends of the horizontal beams so they do not interfere with the column at this joint: I was able to find this short illustration in a PDF document provided by Altair: However, I cannot find an explanation for how to do this elsewhere in the PDF. If anyone knows how to accomplish this, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help!
  3. Hello Altair community, I am having an issue in HyperMesh 2019 where I cannot create a curve from Excel ground motion data (acceleration m/(s*s) vs time (s)) using the Curve Editor. Every time I copy the two columns into the Curve Editor and press "Update", HyperMesh becomes unresponsive and I need to restart it. The reason why I am defining a curve is because I want to create an SPCD load collector that has the ground motion data, a(t), as the "enforced acceleration", for a dynamic analysis project. I would like to use the "curve" functionality below to do this: I have attached the Excel spreadsheet with the data. Column A is time and column B is acceleration (see the attached .csv file). There are 26,631 points. I have already created a TABLED1 load collector for this data, but there is no curve entity in HyperMesh. On another note, I was also able to plot this data in HyperGraph (see the attached .mvw file) but cannot figure out how to export it to a curve entity in HyperMesh. If the Curve Editor method is not working maybe someone can explain how to export the plot from HyperGraph to HyperMesh as a curve entity.   4. Hello, I am a beginner with HyperMesh and would like to know if there is a way for a user to input a table of node coordinates into HyperMesh instead of having to manually input each coordinate. Manually inputting each X, Y, and Z coordinate is time-consuming, so a shortcut would be great. Here is an example of what the node table looks like. Hello, I am running into a problem with a modal transient dynamic analysis: I am simulating a tower that is fixed-connected to a structural shake table, where the shake table is subject to an acceleration load...and I can't run the analysis. My excitation and SPCs are coincident - this is the problem, but I can't figure out how to simulate a fixed constraint that is moving - the tower is fixed-connected to the base plate, and the base plate is excited by the acceleration load. The acceleration load gets transferred to the rest of the tower: Does anybody know how to model this scenario correctly in HyperMesh or know how to tell HyperMesh to transfer the acceleration load from the base plate to the rest of the tower? I have gone through the modal transient dynamic analysis and have everything else set up - its just the excitation and SPC. The tutorial presented an example where the excitation and the SPCs were not at the same location. Thanks again for your help!

I would also like to ask another question: my acceleration excitation and my SPC constraints are at the same location - I am trying to model the scenario where there is a shake plate underneath the tower: The tower is fixed connected to the shake table, but the excitation is applied to the shake table, and hence the bottom nodes of the tower... how would one model this interaction in HyperMesh? I can't run the analysis. Thanks again!

Hello everyone, I am conducting a modal transient dynamic analysis and would like to ask if it is possible to input this acceleration vs. time data into a "TABLED1" load collector, or if there is a specific load collector that is used for acceleration data. I have looked online for tutorials and it seems "TABLED1" is only for displacement data, so I would like to know if this is the case. I have created the data in HyperGraph, and was also able to create it using the built-in "Curve Editor" in HyperMesh 2019 (although since I have more than 10000 data points the Curve Editor window doesn't open, so I can't show it here). I have the geometry, mesh, SPCs, materials, and properties all ready to go...it's just that defining the dynamic load that is giving me issues.   8. Hello, I am a civil engineering student who is using HyperMesh to create a model of a small-scale tower as part of a civil engineering design club. I have no prior experience with HyperMesh in the past and am currently learning all of its functionalities and capabilities on the spot. I am currently having a problem with creating a uniform "hex8" solid mesh for the solid in the image below: The mesh, containing 3-D quad elements, has been created, but there are warped mesh elements along the sides of the component: I would like to be able to make all the 3-D mesh elements cubes, all with side lengths of 0.0127 units, and these mesh elements will correspond to only one component. If anyone can offer tips on how to resolve this, that would be much appreciated! Thank you very much for your help!
