  2. Hello, I compared maximum stress of my model in a linear static analysis with different materials. I went from steel to 7075 aluminum (lower youngs modulus and higher cross contraction number). The rest of my model including the load cases stayed the same and i expected the stress to be higher in the case of aluminum because of its lower youngs modulus. But the exact opposite was the case. How can this be explained? I did some research and found this quote in a PDF from altair (https://www.altairuniversity.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/postproc.pdf) : "Changing the material will not require rerunning the analysis for stress (in case of linear static analysis) and a decision could be taken just by comparing the maximum stress value with the yield / ultimate strength of the material" So i get different stresses in a linear static analysis with different materials, but this quote says an analysis rerun is not required. I am confused. I highly appreciate if anyone has an explanation for this. Thank you very much, Johannes
  3. Hello, The Topology Optimization in Optistruct by default uses the Direct method for the Sensitivity analysis. I am predicting the result variation using the Adjoint method. It would be of great help to me if I know the way that I can make the solver use the Adjoint method of Sensitivity anslysis. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

  6. Hi! I wanna model the rotation of a gear (wheel) with a preload in the pinion. I asume the preload is modeled with a moment but, how do I model the rotation? And which analysis type should I choose? (I don't want a quasi-static one). Some analysis don't let me include a LOAD. Thanks in advance!

  9. Hi Everyone, I was performing on my model through creating Stress-Strain curve and putting data values as per the curve given below. I have used NLPARM in Load Step. The error it is showing is quoted as : "The plastic material data specified on the TABLES1 bulk data entry ID=5 is invalid. The slope after the initial yield point is not less than the Young's modulus. ( 1.468927e+005 >= 1.550543e+005 ) at the segment 2. " I got, that the slope after the initial yield point should be less than the young modulus. So, I have ensure that very carefully in my curve but also it is showing the same error. Kindly clear my doubt as if I am doing something wrong. Thank you for reading and for answering. Enclosure: In the curve I have selected the first curve among all the curves.
  10. Hello, I've trouble analyzing my inspire construction. After setting up my contacts, forces and constraints I'm starting the analysis and then inspire crashes and closes itself. Very strange because i've done several analysis's and optimizations before without experiencing any troubles. Also have I done several analysis's with this same particular model, only the constrains have changes slightly. Does anyone know the answer to my problem?
  11. hello, i'm trying to do a correlation between experimental results and numérical ones, so for this correlation i am using as a reference file a .UNV ( 164) and for correlation file results extracted from a modale analysis optistruct, so once i clic on load an error message apear it said that '' erreur: missing operand ar_@_ in expression..'' as showing in the picture. i'm sure that the error comes from the unv file. so my question is : is it the unv fomat file ''dataset 164'' that causes this error? if yes what dataset should be used ' dataset 15, 18, 55, 58, 82 or 151? if there is any other suggestion i'm all ears. and thank you in advance for all your replies
  12. Hi, I am a student of Youngnam University in Korea.This time, I was going to get a student license and use it.However, an error occurred. I want to know the solution.I don't know if it's a license or my condition is wrong. Perhaps it is not a licensing issue.There's a file I analyzed last year. There was no problem last year. The file went on as it was. However, now the same error occurs as the attached picture. I don't know what the problem is. I need help.
  13. Hi, First time using HyperMesh and I am following a tutorial for topology optimisation. The tutorial I am following is on pages 25-36 in the link provided. When I click OptiStruct, I do not get a message. When I click view.out, I get a message saying: '.out file does not exist.' Where am I going wrong? Thanks Laurence OptiStruct_11.0_Tutorials_(1).pdf
  14. Using Hypermesh 2017, and User Optistruct. I have been trying to get the contour plots of a chassis both modeled with a beam model and a shell model to match up but the deflections of the shell model are always about 2 times as large. It should also be noted that the deflection images are nearly exactly the same with the same deflection trends but just the magnitudes are different. The following conditions are the exact same for both: forces, location of forces, constraints, overall size, thickness and material. The only conditions that are different would be the properties as the beam model is modeled with a PBEAM and assigned the correct beamsection while the Shell model is modeled with a PSHELL card and then assigned the thickness. Are there any common errors that would be able to describe why the beam model has almost exactly half the deflection of the shell model? Thanks for any Help , reply if more info is needed.   15. Hı everyone, I am trying to do lattice optimization with different types. I'm using hex mesh for design and tetra mesh for non-design. I I can see the different types of lattice in the design structure. But when I check the displacement values, I don't see any difference. Can you help me for this problem? controlarm.pptx
  16. Following the y-bracket tutorial leaves the optimisation hanging on 100% and analysis fails, saying contact support. The optimisation is definitely no longer doing anything because the process has no load on CPU. Please see attachments. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Best, Darren

  19. Hello, I would like to extract the node point stresses after an analysis using a tcl script for further analysis in Matlab. Control cards only allow me to export the GPSTRESS as HM or H3D which is not useful for running an analysis outside of hypermesh and hyperview. What functions should I use to accomplish this?   22. Hi, I used incremental radioss - crashform for simulating the component. I have the .hf file, .sta file, .rst file, .rad and animation files. I should run the springback analysis for the component. I am not able to get the springback result. I should evaluate the springback and the springback compensation. Kindly help me. It is urgent.   24. Hi there, I've run a simulation of the chassis of a car through Optistruct in Hyperview, and there were no errors and everything seemed to run well. However, upon loading into Hyperview, I am unable to view the contour plots for stress/strain/displacement and the four subcases. I am expecting to get a model like Image 1, however am getting image 2. It is as if there are no loads applied to the chassis. If anyone is able to view the model (file attached) and perhaps indicate where I am going wrong it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Chassis_scaled_newI.hm
  25. Hello all, For stress analysis, I want to show the stress value of some nodes, in order to make a screenshot for documentation. To do this I put a note on the selected node, and in the note i write {entity.contour_val}. Now the problem is, that i get the value of the selected node and all of the nodes surrounding it. But i only want the stress value of that particular node. Does anyone know what to do? Thank you in advance.
