  1. I'm having an issue with Optistruct: when running an Analysis Optistruct seems to finish it giving "Job complete" but opening the .out file you can clearly see that analysis isn't complete. I'll attach both the .out and .stat files Thank you Piastra_libera_ASET.stat Piastra_libera_ASET.out P.S: the issue seems to disappear without the ASET load collector, could that be the cause?

  4. when a round profile model such as car wheel , bike wheel, have do a static analysis , hub or shaft center of wheel fixed. forces apply rim face but this forces are crossed does not perpendicular selected axis. how to apply force in round , cylindrical part in face ?
  5. Hello Guys, I have a working model of a composite helicopter blade. I have extracted the modal frequencies of the blade. I want to know if there is a way to find out at what rotational speeds will the blade reach any of those modal frequencies? is there a way to do this on hyperworks? Kind Regards, Mohamed
  6. Hello Everyone, I just started to use Inspire and I did the introduction problems on Altair's Moodle. I know more or less how to draw and modify the structures. However, I noticed when I upload STL file from alternative source to Inspire 2016, it seems like a piece that I cannot modify or it doesn't appear in analysis any way. I would like to run analysis stage on the imported STL file before I modify it at any way. The piece appears as "Invalid feature or associated part". An STL file output from Inspire 2016 source is recognized as it should be after reloading. Is it there a way to make an imported part to become a part that can be modified in Inspire 2016?   7. Hello,everyone. I am a new user of the hyperworks. And I want to analysis a .iges file with many lines as you can see in the attachment. I want assign the lines with beam property. The problem I get is that when I use 'line mesh' with pbeaml(beam section is a circle) , bar2, and auto settings, some lines can't be assign the property correctly, as you can see in the .png file(the picture). I guess the direction of the beamsection is not correctly set, because when I analysis it by optistruct, I get an error that the 6~8 field of cbeam is zero length. But I want if there any method can generate what I want correctly. I want analysis a more complex lattice model(with lines in all direction), and before this I use this simple model as a practise. This could be due to disconnected substacks, duplicate interfaces or inconsistent interfaces orientations. Please verify the substacks and interfaces thoroughly. ************************************************************************ ==== End of solver screen output ==== ==== Job completed ==== In my model I got six plies called that have no material real material (material with parameters = 0), I just used them to create an Interface laminate and to connect the plies in a proper way.   10. When I applied enforced displacement, the Result Types only shows Displacement option. Von mises / max principal etc are not available. Help please.

Hi, I want to see the difference in the stress analysis results between: a shape that is being constrained by a mass and has minimum compliance VS a shape that has a minimum volume fraction and has a stress constraint (using the DTPL card to set it). When I choose the analysis option in optistruct I get the exact same analysis results for both shapes (even thought when I choose optimization option they turn out different). How can I get two different stress analysis results? Better question: Is it possible to optimize a shape and then run a stress analysis test on it?
  12. Hi, Is it possible in Optistruct to optimize a model and then afterwards analyze it for certain stresses? (run optimization and then run analysis on the optimized shape) I have created a shape with certain forces and stresses and optimized it successfully for minimum compliance & constrained volume, but I would like to analyze the optimized shape for stresses in several different locations of the shape.
  13. Hello, I have a doubt, and I was wondering if someone here could help. I am setting up a Direct Frequency Response Analysis, and I want to set an oscillating load. I've read the documentation and some tutorials, however, I can't find the solution. The load I want to apply is: force (time)=A+B*cos(wt) A and B are constants, and w is the angular frequency. If A=0, the proccess would be (I think): - Set a unit load in the given direction, with load type DAREA, and magnitude 1. - Set a TableD1 load collector, with a range of frequencies and y=B - Set Freqi and Rload2 load collectors, and a freq resp (direct) loadstep accordingly. (I would be grateful if someone can confirm that is correct) However, when A is not zero, I have no idea what I should do. One more thing, is there a way to view the applied load in Hyperview? If there was, I could see for myself what I am doing. EDIT: I think I found a way to do this, with the global output request OLOAD, not sure it it'll work though.   14. Hello, i want to reduce the dynamic stiffness of a rubber bearing by changing the geometry. I have an approximate idea of the "optimized" geometry of this rubber bearing therefore I created morphvolumes and changed the specified area (solid elements) by translating the handles. I saved these changes as shapes which are my design variables. I know that the optimum is between the initial model and the changed model. I want to do an optimization with optistruct to find the optimum. To reduce the dynamic Stiffness i need 3 responses and an equation (dont know another way so far). The calculation of the dynamic Stiffness is simple: Cdyn = Force/Displacement. First i defined an equation with the dequation-panel: F(x,y)=x/y --> where x is the "frf force (ELFORCE)" and y the displacement (frf displacement) which are two of the three responses. The Last response is "function" which includes the dequation and the other two responses defined before. I would like to minimize the response "function" (which is the dynamic stiffness). But it's not possible to create an objective which minimizes my response "function", i get following error: *** ERROR # 1812 *** Multiple responses are assigned to the DESOBJ objective function. A MINMAX/MAXMIN objective function definition with DOBJREF should be used instead. Number of responses = 1000 1) Do you know what the maximum number of responses is? (It's an frequency response analyis from 0 Hz to 3000 Hz with an increment of 3, thats why its 1000 responses (i guess)) . I created an obj reference "dobjref" which includes the response "function", then i created MINMAX objective.This works, and i can start the optimization but here i have some questions: 2) When i define the obj reference i can choose neg and pos reference. What can i do with these references? 3) I don't really know what this minmax function does. Does it minimize the maximum value of the equation? It is not my goal to minimize only the maximum value of the equation, it's rather minimizing the area of the function. 4) Is it normal that optistruct finds a solution after 2 iterations? I have two different shapes and i would expect that it takes a lot of time and iterations to find the optimum. I guess i did something wrong or forgot sth.   15. Hi We are doing a car impact analysis against a pole (created as a rigid wall - Geometry type = cylinder). The simulation is running, but the impact only affects the front part of the car, it does't transmit the impact energy to the entire car. We think that we are missing to make a contact between the entire car, but we don´t know how to do it. As you can see in the second image, the front part of the frame, goes through the base of the car.
  16. Starting from the attached topic, I was able to find a way to visualize my load flow/force flow by creating an expression "Vector from Scalar". Browsing through several publications I found the neccessary Tensor-Elements to combine my force in x-,y- and z-direction. fx = [SigmaXX, TauXY, TauXZ] fy = [TauYX, SigmaYY, TauYZ] fz = [TauZX, TauZY, SigmaZZ] Following the above my expression for fx looks like this: VectorFromScalar(T1.C1, T1.C4, T1.C6) T1.C1 is Table Component XX T1.C4 is Table Component XY T1.C6 is Table Component ZX All three chosen from "Table: Element Stresses (2D & 3D)" Now I need to verify that this is actually what I want^^ So please let me know what you would interpret from this visualization. To get more insight I'll tell you what I am heading for: The Idea is to analyze complex structures referring to the flow/flux of force. This can be very helpful in finding working surface pairs or their connecting channel and support structures within non-obvious structures. Thank you for your help! I am happy for anykind of answer!!   17. Hi, I am new to inspire and when I set up the model and try to run the optimization, I see an error "overlap of surfaces in the body7, please check". I checked for overlap of surfaces in SolidWorks and Fusion. The geometry seemed perfect without errors. I don't know why this error shows up in Inspire. Can anyone help me solve this problem? After the free size optimization I wanted to check the composite failure, but I can't find cfailure in the control cards as it was in the previous version. How can I get results for the composite failure in Hyperworks 13 to look at in HyperView? Thanks in advance.
  19. Hey everybody, I'd like to know if there is a way to display some sort of force vectors to visualize the force flux. My idea is to run the analysis mode and then being able to display where the actual force "moves along" the analyzed structure. This is important for complex structures to have a better understanding of why something might fail. With this in mind I'd be able to design a more evolved Designspace etc. Thanks for your help, Asaad
  20. How to perform simulation (Nastran) on a system by applying a sinusoidal load of 0.1g which swept from 10-50 Hz which varies at rate of 1Hz/min ??? How to use the Time domain in solver deck? In Modal Frequency Response i don't use varying rate (1 Hz/min) . So please let me know how to apply the time here.....!!!
  21. Hi All, I have set up a model of a pipe section and tried to subject it to torsion. The analysis completes but I have some unexpected results. Hi all, I want to do an acoustic analysis of a bus cabin with OptiStruct.The bus is exposed to wind effect during driving conditions.To simulate this effect,i used Virtual Wind Tunnel.I could export the pressure values with related node coordinates.I can use these pressure loads,but these values are in time domain and i need to convert it to frequency domain to use in acoustic analysis. (with FFT etc...) Is there any way to make this conversion with HyperWorks softwares ?
  24. During a static analysis there are temporary .rs~ files generated which exceed the disk space which results in an error which stops the process. Is there anything wrong or need to be minded in the setup? Never had this in previous analysis. Thanks
