  1. Hello, I have a doubt, and I was wondering if someone here could help. I am setting up a Direct Frequency Response Analysis, and I want to set an oscillating load. I've read the documentation and some tutorials, however, I can't find the solution. The load I want to apply is: force (time)=A+B*cos(wt) A and B are constants, and w is the angular frequency. If A=0, the proccess would be (I think): - Set a unit load in the given direction, with load type DAREA, and magnitude 1. - Set a TableD1 load collector, with a range of frequencies and y=B - Set Freqi and Rload2 load collectors, and a freq resp (direct) loadstep accordingly. (I would be grateful if someone can confirm that is correct) However, when A is not zero, I have no idea what I should do. One more thing, is there a way to view the applied load in Hyperview? If there was, I could see for myself what I am doing. EDIT: I think I found a way to do this, with the global output request OLOAD, not sure it it'll work though.   2. Hi! I wanna model the rotation of a gear (wheel) with a preload in the pinion. I asume the preload is modeled with a moment but, how do I model the rotation? And which analysis type should I choose? (I don't want a quasi-static one). Some analysis don't let me include a LOAD. Thanks in advance!
  3. Using Hypermesh 2017, and User Optistruct. I have been trying to get the contour plots of a chassis both modeled with a beam model and a shell model to match up but the deflections of the shell model are always about 2 times as large. It should also be noted that the deflection images are nearly exactly the same with the same deflection trends but just the magnitudes are different. The following conditions are the exact same for both: forces, location of forces, constraints, overall size, thickness and material. The only conditions that are different would be the properties as the beam model is modeled with a PBEAM and assigned the correct beamsection while the Shell model is modeled with a PSHELL card and then assigned the thickness. Are there any common errors that would be able to describe why the beam model has almost exactly half the deflection of the shell model? Thanks for any Help , reply if more info is needed.   5. Hello all ! This is my first post here, I'm a student doing my master thesis in Mechanical engineering. Here is my issue, I successfully did the tutorial in order to realize dynamic explicit analysis with the "full car" model available in Hypermesh database and also the " Example 51 - Optimization in RADIOSS for B-Pillar (Thickness optimization) " in order to understand how the ESL method works. The next step is to optimize the car crash box using he ESL method, my aim is to optimize the component called " COMP-PSHELL_1 " by Thickness optimization. I wrote the .radopt file but I encountered an issue with the .fem file. See below the error, I was not able to solve the issue. *** See next message about line 14864 from file: fullcarv5.fem "CONTACT,3,3,0,3" *** ERROR # 1000 *** in the input data: Incorrect data in field # 4.   6. Hello, I'm currently attempting to do a study in which I created a simple square mesh. A pressure is applied perpendicular to the entire surface and the geometry is constrained along two parallel edges of the square. I'd like to observe the change in element displacement as the thickness varies. Is there any way to do this by parameterizing the thickness within the PSHELL component? I have attached an image of the setup to clarify.

  11. When trying to calculate (solidification) with sleeves I get an error message: Error when preparing data for analysis (Domain error: Argument not in valid range) The calculation is O.K. without sleeves. Please advise.
  12. I've been recently working on a Knee joint model . I need to find the contact force vector between two particular components. I have been getting a lot of errors and unable to run the model. All the contact pairs and properly defined and I am able to generate all typical outputs except for contact output. please help me out. The output blocks defined so far are node and element outputs for all 8 components defined. Thanks in advance!
  13. I have designed a patch antenna which is operated using proximity feed. After running, in POSTFEKO the realised gain was very low despite "good" gain values. When I checked the current activity using Currents requests, I found out that only a little current is induced in the patch. I'm running FEKO 14. I have no idea what's wrong. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
  14. Hey everybody, I'd like to know if there is a way to display some sort of force vectors to visualize the force flux. My idea is to run the analysis mode and then being able to display where the actual force "moves along" the analyzed structure. This is important for complex structures to have a better understanding of why something might fail. With this in mind I'd be able to design a more evolved Designspace etc. Thanks for your help, Asaad
  15. Hi We are doing a car impact analysis against a pole (created as a rigid wall - Geometry type = cylinder). The simulation is running, but the impact only affects the front part of the car, it does't transmit the impact energy to the entire car. We think that we are missing to make a contact between the entire car, but we don´t know how to do it. As you can see in the second image, the front part of the frame, goes through the base of the car.

  17. Hi Everyone, I was performing on my model through creating Stress-Strain curve and putting data values as per the curve given below. I have used NLPARM in Load Step. The error it is showing is quoted as : "The plastic material data specified on the TABLES1 bulk data entry ID=5 is invalid. The slope after the initial yield point is not less than the Young's modulus. ( 1.468927e+005 >= 1.550543e+005 ) at the segment 2. " I got, that the slope after the initial yield point should be less than the young modulus. So, I have ensure that very carefully in my curve but also it is showing the same error. Kindly clear my doubt as if I am doing something wrong. Thank you for reading and for answering. Enclosure: In the curve I have selected the first curve among all the curves.

  21. Hello, i want to reduce the dynamic stiffness of a rubber bearing by changing the geometry. I have an approximate idea of the "optimized" geometry of this rubber bearing therefore I created morphvolumes and changed the specified area (solid elements) by translating the handles. I saved these changes as shapes which are my design variables. I know that the optimum is between the initial model and the changed model. I want to do an optimization with optistruct to find the optimum. To reduce the dynamic Stiffness i need 3 responses and an equation (dont know another way so far). The calculation of the dynamic Stiffness is simple: Cdyn = Force/Displacement. First i defined an equation with the dequation-panel: F(x,y)=x/y --> where x is the "frf force (ELFORCE)" and y the displacement (frf displacement) which are two of the three responses. The Last response is "function" which includes the dequation and the other two responses defined before. I would like to minimize the response "function" (which is the dynamic stiffness). But it's not possible to create an objective which minimizes my response "function", i get following error: *** ERROR # 1812 *** Multiple responses are assigned to the DESOBJ objective function. A MINMAX/MAXMIN objective function definition with DOBJREF should be used instead. Number of responses = 1000 1) Do you know what the maximum number of responses is? (It's an frequency response analyis from 0 Hz to 3000 Hz with an increment of 3, thats why its 1000 responses (i guess)) . I created an obj reference "dobjref" which includes the response "function", then i created MINMAX objective.This works, and i can start the optimization but here i have some questions: 2) When i define the obj reference i can choose neg and pos reference. What can i do with these references? 3) I don't really know what this minmax function does. Does it minimize the maximum value of the equation? It is not my goal to minimize only the maximum value of the equation, it's rather minimizing the area of the function. 4) Is it normal that optistruct finds a solution after 2 iterations? I have two different shapes and i would expect that it takes a lot of time and iterations to find the optimum. I guess i did something wrong or forgot sth.   23. Hi, First time using HyperMesh and I am following a tutorial for topology optimisation. The tutorial I am following is on pages 25-36 in the link provided.
