  1. I am having trouble figuring out why there are strange reaction forces in my model. The rightmost node allows for rotation (vector out/in screen) and the bottom left node pushes up at a set displacement. The rightmost node should not have so much force in the x-direction. Any help in figuring out why this is happening is much appreciated. Femur_Model_7_1.hm

Hi everyone, I am using Inspire version 2019.0.1 and have the following problem: I have a loadcase setup with defined forces on my product and I want to set up a requirement for one edge of my product to have at least a displacement of for example 50mm in the topology optimized result. How do I do that? I have already tried to use the function 'enforced displacement' but then it says: 'Incompatible Loads: You cannot maximize stiffness with an enforced displacement and any other load. Please remove other loads from the enforced displacement load case.' In my case it would make no sense, because I want a topology optimization with a defined forced AND a defined displacement. Is it possible to do this in another way?
  3. Hello, I am trying to make a movement of nodes as shown in the image. I want the movement to be lika a circle ( i dont want rectangular displacements). How would you recommend to do this? INitial point is 1 and final point is 2. I have tried an SPC with two DOFs constrained (x,y) with it respective displacement values in two DOFs 1 and 2. How would you recommend to make this displacemnet.? Thank you in advance for your itme.
  4. Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up a direct transient analysis of the beam you see in the picture below (simplified geometry): The beam is meshed with tetra elements. On top the beam is constrained in all dof. In the middle of the beam is a hump and the mass of it has an influence on the eigenfrequency of the beam. At the lower end of the beam a periodically enforced displacement in the range of the eigenfrequency (3 kHz < f < 4 kHz) of the beam is applied. With the FE analysis I want to get information about the following questions: What is the stress at the top of the beam? Later I would like to get information about fatigue. What is the eigefrequency of the beam? What is the exact displacement of the hump in the middle of the beam when a certain displacement is applied at the lower end with its eigenfrequency? So far I've tried to adapt the tutorial "OS-T: 1310 Direct Transient Dynamic Analysis of a BracketOS" to my purposes but I have problems with applying the periodically enforced displacement. Can someone tell me what the best way is to realize this problem with optistruct?   5. Hi Everyone, I am working with Radioss. I use TYPE 7 contact for this model. I wanted to check whether my model is working regarding with displacement or stress result for my BCs. But after analysis result it shows nothing every displacement result is zero and low Stress (Can see animation in this link https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jccvEqdd7xk5u3Zi_QyirAPrZYkpptGM). Before created this topic, I learnt RD-T3530 and RD-T3595. Can anyone take a look into my model whats wrong or what change I have to make. Thank you in advance.   6. Hello, I'm currently trying to optimize the laminate of a cfk part with the free sizing optimization. At the end of the run it states "OPTIMIZATION HAS CONVERGED" "FEASIBLE DESIGN (ALL CONSTRAINTS SATISFIED)" but the programm is just reducing the mass while the displacement constantly gets bigger and is far bigger than the max displacement constraint I set for the optimization. The total displacement constraint is set to -2mm. Min ply thickness is set to 2mm and max 50mm.
  7. Hı everyone, I am trying to do lattice optimization with different types. I'm using hex mesh for design and tetra mesh for non-design. I I can see the different types of lattice in the design structure. But when I check the displacement values, I don't see any difference. Can you help me for this problem? controlarm.pptx
  8. I have a .csv file with nodenumbers that have coordinates and displacements. Can I import that date in Hypermesh/Optistruct to create for each node in the file a SPC that has the displacements and is located at the position of the node coordinates?

Hi Everyone, I am working with Optistruct for my Linear/Static Analysis, I am doing Topology Optimization in my model but before I wanted to check whether my model is working regarding with displacement or stress result for my BCs. but after analysis result it shows nothing every displacement result is zero and no change. Can anyone take a look into my model whats wrong or what change I have to make. I used Hex mesh, with 4 Loadcases and one constraint. I have attached my model for the expect reference.   10. I have a cube as a model, and i'm trying to apply a boundary condition that it's basicaly a shear force in one of the cube faces. But the particularity of this BC is that i have to define a UNIFORM displacement (every element having the same displacement) on this shear forced face. How can i do that?
  11. Hello I am just new in hyperwork. I want to do displacement analysis for non unofrom beam as shown below. i have 2 different cross section, i defined 2 hyperbeam, 2 properties and 2 component. i use 3 nodes and use cbeam to connect the nodes, the define load step use optistruc to solve analysis, but my analytical value and value that optistruc is obtained are different. i just thank that maybe i should use RBE2 in B, am I right?if yes how can i do that? If no, what is my fault. Big thanks
  12. Hello, I am seeing an error in a couple of files where the displacement contours are plotted 'backwards' on the model. That is, the displacement contours are plotted at full magnitude on the undeformed model at t=0 Then at t=1, all contours show zero magnitude but the model is in it's deformed state. Von Mises Stress contours appear correctly, with 0 stress at t=0. RADIOSS solver deck. Results from other parts using the same deck are displaying as expected. Thanks
  13. Hello, I'm currently attempting to do a study in which I created a simple square mesh. A pressure is applied perpendicular to the entire surface and the geometry is constrained along two parallel edges of the square. I'd like to observe the change in element displacement as the thickness varies. Is there any way to do this by parameterizing the thickness within the PSHELL component? I have attached an image of the setup to clarify.
  14. Hi, I'm developing our impact atenuator for an FSAE team based in the crashbox tutorial available by altair. The simulation gone all right but we are having some trouble to generate the graphics.In hypergraph I can't plot the displacement vs force graph, it's shown just a limited number of options in the X type. I want to know how can I generate the displacement vs force graph of the honeycomb or the graph of a point in it. Please, it's urgent.
  15. Hello everyone, We have to create a fully automated tool that takes the user inputs and solve a defined problem using hypermesh, optistruct and hyperview. I can run hypermesh and optistruct to solve a simple problem yet I can't program anything to display results with hypermesh. I would like to display displacements (i.e. plot them) and capture the graphical area to later import it in the matlab GUI. My understanding is that I have to use the Altair reference guide. My idea is to use the polContourCtrl command.   16. Hello, I have a problem when I want to watch my results on Hyperview. Indeed, the numeric value (of the displacement for example) displayed/computed is correct, but during the animation, we can see the displacement does not reach the value (really small displacement animation compare to the value)... I guess it is a problem about the display only. I checked the Scale factor and changed it ('deformed' button), but when I chose beyond around 20, the display diverge/'explode'. Besides, it is not high enough to clearly see the 'real' displacement (value displayed). Can you help me please? Thank you, Corentin

I am aware that these two loadcases lead to different results on Optistruct, but have found very few info in the help about it. I did a simple test watching the behaviour of a part under torsion and bending when I try to optimize it on Optistruct (minimize mass, Von Mises static constraints, gauge optimization). -When "enforced displacements" are used, we obtain a lighter part ( decrease of the thickness ) but the stresses decrease as well ! This is totally illogical since a decrease of the thickness should necessarily lead to an

Thank you very much, P.S : the only help I found on Optistruct documentation about the matter is the following paragraph What is the difference between using forces and prescribed displacements? In order to increase stiffness, minimize compliance should be used with forces and maximize compliance with prescribed displacements. The compliance is defined as: Compliance ~ Force · Displacement When prescribed displacements are used, the reaction force must be increased to increase the stiffness. This means that the compliance has to be maximized. In case the forces are given, a stiffer structure means having lower displacements. To achieve this goal, the compliance needs to be minimized.
  20. Hi Everybody, I have simulated the torsion of a chassis. Therefore I would like to plot the displacement of the chassis along the x coordinate of it. As there is HyperGraph to plot such things, I don't know how to get the needed informations from Hyperview to hypergraph, in order to plot the wanted curve. Can someone help me with this case?   21. Hi ! I´m working in a crash simulation and I would like to know if it is possible to watch and measure the deformations after the impact in Hyperview. Because currently when I load the results in Hyperview it only shows the displacement but i need to know the deformations. Is there any control card that help me to show the results (deformations) that I want to know?? Another question is: How can I obtain the displacement tensor??   22. Hi, I ran the optimization solver using optistruct with basic point loads as a test. However when i apply the display von mises stress on simple averaging method, there is nothing.   23. Hi, Anyone know how to convert acceleration data to displacement time dat ain hypergraph with the function of zero mean after conversion? As if i simply double integrate it, displacement data are not vibrate in zero mean level while in real case, it should vibrate in zero mean level.

Hello, I am trying to plot force/displacement in HyperStudy and at the moment I can only plot displacement at certain node (N1, N2, N3,....) however I would like to plot using maximum displacement. Can anyone instruct me to how I can output maximum displacement to be able to plot it in HyperStudy? Many thanks, Ahmed
