  1. Hello, I would like to know how to set up PSD nodal force output from RANDOM Response analysis because I have problems with this. I find out it should be possible trough XYPEAK / XYPLOT / XYPUNCH I/O Options and Subcase Information Entry. However, when I use CASE_UNSUPPORTED_CARDS with option e.g. "XYPLOT,FORCE,PSDF / 184934(T2)" where 184934 is ID of grid point in the model, I get following error in .out file: *** See next message about line 13 from file: D:/subory/PHP/Priprava_Modelu_Sendvica/Modalna_analyza/pokus6/Random/test/model_12_5_20__10_26.fem "XYPLOT,FORCE,PSDF / 184934(T2)" *** ERROR # 1651 *** in the input data: Syntax error in XYPLOT/XYPRINT/... card - last item read: "T2". I have also tried use command as follows: "XYPLOT,FORCE,PSDF / 184934(2)" which leaded to error: *** ERROR # 6034 *** Nonexistent element 184934 referenced by XYPUNCH/XYPLOT/XYPEAK request. ************************************************************************ A fatal error has been detected during input processing: *** ERROR # 6034 *** Nonexistent element 184934 referenced by XYPUNCH/XYPLOT/XYPEAK request. which is weird because I would like to see grid/nodal output (no element output). I have also tried use of Tools->Process manager->Freq Resp Process->Random PSD frequency response. Here I don't need to enter the command directly, but trough GUI of process manager which reduces possible mistakes of mine. In the manager I used besides other sections also section "Define Responses"->"Select Nodal PSD Response" where what I need should be possible in my opinion. I used "Add DOFs" where I choose "Response Type: FORCE" and I have selected mentioned node then I choose Y direction and set "Assign Format" to XYPLOT However, eventualy I get same kind of CARD (CASE_UNSUPPORTED) with absolutely same command in it and I get also same error.   2. Hi there, I'm wondering what's the best way to model a bolt in Hypermesh considering that it's constraining the model and also has the bolt tension force applies. If I model it the usual way, with RBE2 elements, and constrain the center node, I can't apply a force to this node because it won't do nothing (it's displacement is equal to 0, the analysis is linear with [K]{u}={F}). I've searched this topic online and didn't find anything using a bolt both to constraint and apply a force. Should I use the wsher area to apply the force and the edge nodes connected to a RBE2 and constrained in the center node? I'm modeling a wheel. I have the forces applied in a node simulating the contact patch and connected to the wheel using RBE3 elements and constraints in the bolts connecting to the hub. I'm trying to find the best way of applying the bolt tightening forces to the model. Thanks a lot, Rodrigo Monteiro

  4. Hi all, Hopefully a really simple one to solve. I have a simple model, working as a demonstrator. 2 Components, one locked in place whilst the other is driven into it. I have a contact between the two. I need the simulation to terminate when the contact force reaches 100kN. I believe the strategy is /STOP/LSENSOR. Sensor = /Sensor/INTER... TYPE 6. However, I cannot get the simulation to kill at 100kN. Here is the sensor (Fmin = -1, Fmax = 100). ## Sensors ##-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /SENSOR/INTER/1 SENSOR 1 -1.0 100.0 0.0 The issue seems to be when the simulation starts, the sensor activates. I've run the model without the sensor and it ranges from 0 to 200kN. I have tried varying the numbers but that does not alter the outcome, every attempt begins with sensor being activated. HELP!!!!   7. Hi guys, I need your help! I'm simulating the translation of an arm actuated by a pneumatic cylinder (constant force) whose movement is stopped by a limit switch. How can I simulate the limit switch to stop the motion of the translating arm keeping the force acting on the piston (as happens in reality), avoiding the penetration of bodies (see the attached .gif)? I'm not interested in "Collision detection" button, since after this forced has stopped, I want another force to start acting on another body. Thank you all!
  8. Hi, everyone I am a newbie in hpermesh. As you can see in the picture, I have apply the load to the model. But now I want to know how much force I apply that the model will get the specific stress. So the problems I met are: 1. how to make force as response 2. how to add this specific stress (I guess maybe is the static stress=specific value) I don't know if this is possible.   10. Hi all, I'm doing a dropping simulation and I find the rigid wall force is strange. So I design a simple dropping model for checking. The rigid wall reaction force is also so strange similar to my problem. In the early stage of dropping contact, the rigid wall reaction force is very large, I suspect this large force result. Is it real or due to the rigid wall formulation? Or how to solve this problem? At beginning, the distance between the Box model and the rigid wall is about 4mm, which means there is no initial penetration I think. I have attached my model. The model is very small, it can be solved in minutes. Please help me find out the reason. Thank you.   11. Hi all, I want to ask something about force output. I prepared a crash analysis with a pendulum and crashbumper system.(crashboxes,bumper and brackets) If i do this analysis with rigid wall i can see the results with RWALL forces,but my pendulum is in a different shape,so i don't do it with RWALL. Instead, i modeled pendulum with a small thickness and fully rigid.I can do the analysis in this way.But i want to learn that;how i can i get the force output of this crash analysis? (Brackets are not fully rigid,they are constrained with four screw with BC.) Attached picture may be a referance. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi, I have a .csv file with nodes coordinates and forces (x,y,z,Fx,Fy,Fz) that I need to import in HM. I found 2 solutions: Use Field > realize BCs > Create > Forces > Linear Interpolation Both take the .csv file as an input and apply its forces to the model. What are the differences? What should I use? Thanks for the help!
  13. Hello Everyone ! I would like to set up a problem on Hypermesh which include around a hundred load cases (in linear static). To automate it, I found a TCL which "allows a simple template to be created to define the loadcases; useful for creating large numbers of static loadcases very quickly and easily" (link) Thanks to a little VBA, I've just succeed in transforming my Excel data base into a readable txt file for this TCL script. And it works. But my problem is this TCL script only applies my forces (and SPC) on the global system. Is there a solution, and how can modify the TCL script so that it can apply my load cases on a specific local system (expressed into the .txt for each load cases) ? If someone can help me to takle this problem, I will be sooo grateful (Because I've never learnt how to program in TCL) Thanks in advance, Best regards, Hervé Archives.zip
  14. Hi everyone, I'm seeking for help in a topic which I'm fairly new to. I have a complete running MBD model of an automotive vehicle complete with different loadcases. The model provides forces on all joints and pre-defined points. The question I have is; 1. Is there a way to automatically load the output forces on a joint, into a static FEM-analysis? And some follow-up questions if this is to be true; 2. Can I pre-define the time at which the most relevant forces occur? 3. Can this be automated as well? For example: At a given time x, the combination of forces in 3 joints give the highest combined loadcase, but it is not necessary to be the highest force in one of the joints. This could occur at time x2. This would greatly increase our evaluation process of a frame. Thank you in advance!

  17. Hello, I am wondering if there is a way to view results of forces on 3D elements? I have meshed my object initially with 1d beam elements and then I can see the force results using ELFORCE output, but it does not work with 3D elements. Is there any other way to view forces on 3D elements in results? Thank you in advance.
  18. Hi, I have a solid mesh (tetra elements) and I wish to impose a force load on one of its curved sides. However I want the forces on the nodes to "follow" (i.e. being tangential to) the curvature of the geometry. It this possible? Thank you in advance.
  19. Hello, Since the contact surface is deformed in the current analyses, I would like to use tracking system to obtain the projection of the contact forces on the element surfaces. I could manage to use tracking system for displacement but I could not find a way to use for vectors of contact forces. the toggle A picture of the issue I mentioned, is attached to this message. The swicthed that is written "use tracking system" cannot be activated as shown in the second picture, Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi everyone, I'm a student in Design & Engineering at Politecnico of Milan and I'm trying out Solidthinking Inspire 2014 for my master thesis, which is on topology optimization applied to product design by designers. Right now I'm trying to optimize an hammer handle, but I've some difficulties in setting the simulation in the right way. The force applied to the head of the hammer during the usage is an impulsive one. I can't find a way to set a force of this type on my model, so I tried to make an approximation: hammer head mass: m = 1 kg impact speed: V = 10 m/s impact time: 1/100 s I've considered an inelastic collision. after some calculation, based on the relation p = m*V I've found out a force F = 1000 N to be applied on the head. My questions are: 1 - Is there a way to set an impact force in Inspire (2014)? Has someone solved a similar problem? 2 - Is mine a valid approximation? The force value doesn't need to be 100% accurate, I just need to know if my procedure is correct or if there's a better way to set the problem in Inspire Thank you in advance

  24. Hello everyone, i do a FEM Project with HyperMesh and now im at a point where i need some help :/ (First time with HyperMesh) I have to do a FEM analysis where various forces attack a beam. The Problem is that the Beam is not symmetrical but i have to define a Force in direction to the Z-axis. (Picture 2) The Force should attack at the center of gravity otherwise the beam will be twisted. My Question is: Where/ how can i define that point (cog) or force where the beam only bends down and dont twist? previous attempts: Pic 3. --> But it twisted. It is logical because of the lever arm Singe Force on the Top of the beam near the CoG but also twisted My Solver is Optistruct. Pic1.
