  1. Hi, I am quite new to the hyperwork and hyperstudy. I am going to do inverse calibration approach to find the hyperelastic material properties for our developed foam material. It means that, I have force-displacement curve from experimental compression test and want to fit the curve with crushable foam model in ABAQUS software. would you please let me know if there is any tutorial that can be helpful as I just installed Hyperwork licence (my organisation, UoA, provided it).   2. Hi, I'm using Hyperstudy 2017.2 and Radioss as a solver. I encounter an error when I perform the evaluate step in the DOE approach. It happens that during a run (whatever) the evaluate and extract steps can't finish succesfully, but there aren't errors in the messages box and in the .out file I can read that analysis is already finished with normal termination: in spite of this, the cursor keeps turning and seems to be waiting to finish evaluation. I realized that when it happens, there isn't the .h3d file in the run folder, even if run is completed and all animation A0# are created. I realized also that by finishing the "hvtrans" process from the task manager, or (is the same) Tclsh85t application, hyperstudy concludes the evaluate step, extracts results and goes to the next run. It's a random problem, but it always happens at least once. Thank you all for helping out.
  3. Hi all, This question may be reasonably straight forward to answer (it isn't a trick question at all). When I perform a hyperstudy optimisation study with plate thickness being the variable. Is it possible to dictate what thicknesses I want hyperstudy to investigate? For instance, I have a structure with a plate where I want to know what thickness I can reasonably use without going over a stress limit but I also know that the thicknesses available are 5, 10, 16, 20 mm. How do I get hyperstudy to only look at those values? Cheers Andy
  4. I've set up an optimization study based on tutorial HS-4220 optimization of an impacted beam using my own model for the gauge optimization of crash structure for an ATV. During the both evaluation and optimization, HyperStudy fails to extract the results. Upon looking into the folders it appears that the jobs are not even run in the first place. In order to get the initial results from the setup evaluation, I manually launched the jobs using RADIOSS in the same working directory and they ran fine, generating the required output files. Could someone provide some idea as to why the jobs are not launching correctly through hyperstudy? I would like to run a fairly large optimization study, and manually launching the jobs will take too much time. I have attached the starter, engine, template and HS files.   5. Hello there, I have a problem with running a Study (I've tried on Tutorial file and also on my own model). After evaluation of Nominal run there is no .mrf file created in approach run folder, therefore I'm not able to set the proper response (I'm not able to choose the file for Data Sources). In MotionView analysis output options T've marked to create mrf file, and after MotionView Analysis there is such file created. But unfortunately after HyperStudy nomial run there are just some other files but not the important one Thank you in advance
  6. Hello together, I was wondering if there are some kind of tutorials or explanations of the post-processing plots of HyperStudy. I'm trying to understand how ever data set in HyperStudy is been calculated and how every plot is created. Especially the pareto plot, the ordination plot and the linear effects plot are interesting to me. In all the ebooks and overviews I've read hasn't been a complete explanation how HyperStudy creates these plots. Are there some video tutorials or pdf documents where maybe an example is calculated to show which methods are used? It would be a great help if someone has any documents, videos or experiences where I can get this information. I can't really estimate if this is already to deep into learning the program or maybe I just didn't find the right files. I hope somebody can help me out on this topic. Cheers Max
  7. I'd like to share the seamless integration that Compose with other HyperWorks applications, such as HyperMesh and OptiStruct. In order to expose the Compose function to other HyperWorks applications, we need to register the function. This is done clicking on the right mouse button on Register Function in Compose: After this step, we may now see that the function has been registered under the same mouse click shown above under Show Registered Functions button. Once it is registered, we may now use it inside other HyperWorks softwares, and the function will be available without the need for closing and reopening the application of interest. Example in HyperMesh: Why Compose and HyperMesh? Matrix Browser queries and modifies HyperMesh and HyperView data entities without writing cumbersome TCL coding, along with a Math method developed in Compose.   8. Hello Everyone, I urgently need your help. I have to do an optimisation of a B-Pillar which i have already simulated in Radioss according to 3 point Bending. This was my first time with hyperstudy so i guess i did many thing wrong by defining output responces and contraints i guess. The aim is to hold the intrusion level same and minimize the mass of the structure. I would be really appriciated if someone could help me. i ll post some screenshots here because somehow i cant save the hyperstudy file. Actually i can save but cant open again. It gives error. I just added the size parameters. Shape parameters i will add them later when i understand how hyperstudy works exactly After nominal run i tried to evalute the study But i get this error : Full folder is in the attachments.   9. Hello, I am quite new to hypermesh and I want to create simple solid beam which has a hole and then I want to move the hole. I have built the model in hypermesh and added all the constraints, I have tried morphing but it deformed my meshes while moving the hole by making my beam longer. Would you please help me about which modules I should use? I am currently trying to figure our hyperstudy parametrization

Dear all, has someone already thought about having some kind of R(educed) O(rder) M(odel) block within Activate in the sense of directly using the result of a model order reduction, e.g. created in use of Hyperstudy? Even better would be a block, that directly calls Hyperstudy to execute a model order reduction. Curious to get your thoughts on this... Best regards, Christian
  11. Hi, I am looking for help with extracting the far field data from FEKO and importing it into HyperStudy. I have tweaked the .lua script which was provided in example I-4 in the Example Guide. The attached script seems to run without any errors (dummy value is imported into HyperStudy) if I comment out lines 17 and 24 of the attached code.   12. Has anyone done parametric optimization in optistruct-hyperstudy? i want to do that crossbar can slide through frame. I defined morph volume. But i don't know how can i connect desvar and morph volume? Is it right way? i have seen just size/shape configuration, so it's not my way. i had tryed to save volume and looked for txt file. it doesn't consist elements, so i can't use it in hyperstudy. could anyone explain me how does it works?=) Thanks.
  13. Hi All, Im trying to run a DOE in hyperstudy using nastran as solver. Once i click evaluate task for 100 Iterations it runs fine for the first 4 runs, then the nastran gives an error "Analysis has stopped due to ......" Nastran open 100 tabs for all the 100 runs. But in the hyperstudy i can see for all the 100 tasks it evaluated "success" for write, execute and extract.. Can someone help me in executing this? Do we need to give any extra parameter to run with nastran? Thanks in Advance Manikanth
  14. Dear all, please help me with the parameterization of LOCATION of three cross-members of ladder frame chassis for DOE study using LHS(random design points). The cross-members are to be translated in y-direction in both directions limited to ±100 units. The design variables (continuous, not discrete) are the locations of cross-members from rear end i.e. Y1, Y2 and Y3 and response is the first modal frequency. I want to generate a response surface for freq in terms of Y1, Y2, and Y3. Please tell me how to parameterize their locations to be varied as continuous variables if possible or otherwise to create response surface.
  15. Hi All, I have been using Nastran as my solver for Hyperstudy and it works well till the execution of my simulation. But HyperStudy has to wait for some time till the simulation is complete before it starts extracting the responses. I know that I need to write some script which checks whether there are no errors in the simulation and then extract the data. Has anyone come across this and can you let me know how we can script this?

Same as like one tube both ends are fixed and need to pass the stress requirement with reducing the diameter of the tube. So my aim to reduce the diameter of the tube.   17. Hello, We have been running a quit heavy optimisation with hyperstudy using the GRSM algorithm. After about 37 runs, the computer stopped or we had a power cut or something, so we had an abnormal termination of the optimisation. Is there a way to restart the optimisation from where it stopped instead of running the whole thing again? It is a very heavy opt, so it took us a day and a half to run up to iteration 37, and it would be very important for us to just restart from where left. Many thanks in advance.
  18. Hello, How can I make the number of plies as the variable rather than the thickness of the ply, since the ply thickness has to be 0.2 mm, and the number of layers can change. And I see that there is nothing like manufacturing thickness when I connect HyperWorks to HyperStudy. I'm using GA as solving algorithm. Thank you.

  20. I'm planning to use HyperStudy for multi objective Optimization of laminated composite structure, and I wanted to know it is possible to make orientation of ply as one of the design variable? I want optimum angle for ply, for the given load condition, rather than sticking with the angle given by user. Thank you.
  21. In the expression builder within hyperstudy, is there anyway to apply boolean logic? I could really do with adding IF statements. I've looked to the functions tab and there doesn't appear to be an option.
  22. Hi all, I am following the hyperstudy e-book, beam.fem example (Hyperstudy 13.0) but I can't access the expression builder (see attached picture). The nominal run has been written, executed and extracted correctly. What can I do to input the responses I want to investigate? I can't even use the file assistant (probably introduced in the version 14.0?)
  23. Hi All, Am trying to understand hyperstudy using Shapes and I have encountered a bit of a headscratcher. My plate has a hole with a radius of 50mm and I want to examine the effects of changing that radius. When I apply a shape to it and get to hyperstudy it asks me for an upper and lower bound (default -1 and 1) and an initial of 0. My question is, what exactly do these numbers relate to? When I run it creates a hole 37.5mm and 62.5mm radius respectively, but how does that relate to lower and upper bounds of -1 and 1? OKay it has consistently created a difference of 12.5mm but how did it calculate this? Many thanks in advance. Is there any way I could have just said initial = 50mm, lower = 45mm and upper = 55mm?   25. Hi, We are trying to simulate the HST-AcuSolve Pipe Tutorial as given in the document. We are not able to find the template_srf2.osi file for the definition of file in responses (Step-6 in page 14).
