  1. Hello there, I am trying to simulate the residual stresses and strains of a composite panel after a temperature change to evaluate the springback. To do so, I am using HM as the pre-processor and HV as the post-processing tool, and MSC Nastran as the solver. I am currently running SOL 400 (non linear implicit) analysis and I get my OP2 file and f06 just fine. When I load my results (bdf and op2) in Patran I can see them fine, but when I try to do so with HV, I can only visualize displacements and SPC forces but not Stress or Strain. It seems as those results where not loaded into HyperView. What can I do to solve this? If it helps, here is the beginning of my bdf file. If it helps, I have tried to use the CSTRAIN/CSTRESS cards as output requests but they seem to not work in Nastran. Thanks in advance.

I need plot for elemental strain/stress for specific element in user defined coordinate direction Versus frequency for Frequency response analysis So plot will show elemental stress/strain with respect to frequency range considered in analysis. Objective here is to know values of elemental stress/strain for frequency range.
  3. Hi everyone, i want to solve this problem where there are forces on the 4 point and check the FBD forces at the constraints. i run it in the solver optistruct and got the result. When i open the fem and op2 file in hyperview to check the FBD then it opens the file but when i select an element or node an error message showing 'no valid cross-section for plotting' and doesn't work.

  5. When I run this command using below tcl hv -b -tcl Image_Capture1.tcl example.modl example.res This is the results log I see on my linux terminal: Ready Loading Report... Applying Report... Ready Ready Capturing... Ready It's stuck at "Ready" and unless I press Ctrl+c or enter it doesn't exit back to terminal.   6. Hello, I am running the below command on a linux server hv -b -tcl Image_Capture.tcl example.modl example.res . and I get below error: Loading Report... Applying Report... Invalid character in integer field: '##'. This is the first time I am running this command on this server. I have attached the tcl file for reference. Please advice!
  7. Hi ! I have a problem when I try to vizualise Radioss results on HyperView. My model is a foam box under a compressive uni-axial test. During Radioss execution I have no error and warning but when I try to vizualise stress or forces into foam box , I see Stress or forces are egual to zero ....   8. We are practicing the C-shaped clip of the tutorial to learn Optistruct. The calculation itself with Optistruct is possible, but as shown in the figure, the "HyperView" button is displayed in white and cannot be selected, and the result file cannot be displayed. The software used is HyperWorks 2019 Student Edition. I would appreciate if someone could teach me a solution. Thank you.

  10. Hello, i am using HyperView 2019.1. When i try to visualise the displacements in my simulation via "Contour -> Result type: Displacement -> Apply" i can't see the corresponding legend. The same problem applies when visualising the stress or strain. In preceding versions of HyperView this was not a problem. So i hope someone can help me "turn on" the legend. Thanks!

  13. Hello all I would like to find an way to link hypermesh to analytical calculation. For analytical calculation, I think the software will be excel or hyperstudy. Summaries the steps; 1-I would like create a section cut with selected nodes and elements and get the cross section properties ( which is available aerospace section cut command) . 2- Read the FBD forces on that nodes and elements. 3- Do some math with the crossection properties and FBD forces. Which steps and softwares required for this process? What are your recommendations? Best Regards

Dear, I did a sweep calculation for a Degas Bottle, the frequency range is from 15Hz to 100Hz, acceleration level is 3g, when I got the response stress after the model frequency simulation, I outputted the stress tensor of the most critical element, but I found there are 12 stress tensor in the pch file, so how the hyperview use these tensor to get the plot stress? I could not find the way. Meanwhile, how the Optistruct calculate the damage based on the response stress, I mean how to calculate the cycles at interested frequency, I know the help document, but it doesn't tell too much.   15. Hello all. I know there is a very good tutorial on the subject (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=236ofmwz1X4) however I would like to share my latest experience when comparing stress results obtained from two different solvers i.e. MSC NASTRAN and Optistruct. By default NASTRAN calculates stress using the command: STRESS(PLOT,SORT1,REAL,VONMISES,BILIN)=ALL, meaning that (if you neglect the other terms) a bilinear extrapolation is used to get the stresses from the element's centroid to the nodes. Since optistruct/RADIOSS calculates stress at the element's centroid by default, I supposed that the equivalent command in the .fem input file for optistruct would be: STRESS(SORT1,H3D,REAL,ALL,BILIN) = YES (I have replaced "VONMISES" with "ALL" to have all stresses in my output) and performed two examples of simple static analyses: one with shell elements: the well known hole in plate and another with a bracket meshed with solid elements (4 noded tetras). In both cases the results from MSC NASTRAN and Optistruct were identical, as long as in Hyperview I activated the option "use corner data" (participation of element to the node). Without "corner data" activation the difference in VM stress between NASTRAN and Optistruct for the hole in plate problem was 175 MPa (NASTRAN) to 157 MPa (Optistruct). Now: I performed an analysis of a 3d bolted connection (two plates connected with a 3d bolt) with bolt pretension as a first step and a tensile force acting on the top plate of the connection as the second step. Obviously, this problem involved contact between the plates and the bolt. The analysis converged and the results were correct since I knew from published results (and NASTRAN) that max. stress should be approx. 80 MPa. I received the same results with optistruct, but without the "use corner data" activated, although I have used the command described before for stress. If I activate the corner data in Hyperview, then my stresses almost double in magnitude (156 MPa). So, this contradicts with what I have found with my previous tests (hole in plate and 3d bracket). Does it have to do with the "contact"? Thank you in advance for your reply.

  17. I made a normal modes analysis and now with Hyperview i'm trying to get the data I need. I already got the eigenvectors (X,Y,Z) for each of the modes using the Matrix Browser. Nevertheless when I get those result I don't get the natural frequency (eigenfrequency) related to that specific eigenvectors. As you see in the picture below, the frequency doesn't appear (only that those data is related to "sel1"). How could I make the eigenfrequency to appear there so ones I postprocess the results I can get access to that data? Thanks in advance Sergio
  18. I attempt to go through Toplology Optimisation with relative displacement (in x, y, z) as constraints and loadcases. SoI need to select all the nodes displacements at certain cross sections, where there is the only path transfering force to design area. I am new to optistruct and hyperview, I just noticed it is possible to select cross section and read also output every nodes' displacement in Excel. My question is, does it work in this way? and if yes, How should I input these data (should be more than hundred nodes) into Optistruct as an easy way? A tutorial would be so appreciated! Cheers!

  24. Hi, Is there a query command to identify elements attached to nodes in Hyperview? I can identify nodes attached to elements by using element.connectivity. There isn't such query available for nodes. Thanks, Roshan
  25. Hi, I am creating a script where I want to orient the model such that I can clearly view the interested node and capture a zoomed-in image. So far, I am able to set the desired orientation. But, I am unable to zoom exactly at the interested node. Is there any way I can achieve this? Thanks, Roshan
