I added a bearing load and tried to rotate it. However, I could not grab and drag the move icon. Does anybody knows the solution?

Hello Everybody, I have a general question. Let's say I have a force of 1000N, which acts on a defined area on my geometry. I have applied this load as a line load on the area but now I am wondering if I am making a mistake not applying the load as a pressure load. Where exactly is the difference? If I know the area, on which the load acts and apply this load as a pressure, it should lead to the same solutions, shouldn't it? I would be very thankful for any help because I am pretty stuck at the moment. Thank you for your help in advance Dean
6. Simulation of lumped elements at f > 40 GHz

Hi, The question is: In general how does FEKO simulate lumped elements? Particularly for very high frequencies, where wavelengths are of the same order as the size of the edge port and adjacent faces. In detail: I'd like to know how to properly set a simulation to calculate structures with discrete elements (e.g. capacitor) when real dimensions (capacitor in package) of the elements are near-wavelength (1/6 lambda in this example). I know that an edge port could be used to simulate lumped circuits but I wonder how does the size of the edge port and adjacent faces affect simulation results. The edge port could be also loaded by using S-characteristics of some element, e.g. diode (package with real length of 1/6 lambda), but the S-parameters that are given correspond to a reference plane, which is defined on both ends of the element package. The problem is that in FEKO the diode would be represented by the edge port, that has length of zero. Is there any way to properly simulate lumped elements in packages in so high frequencies? Maybe there is another way of simulating lumped elements except the edge port? EDIT: By structures I mean Microstrip, Slotline, Stripline planar circuits.

Hi, I have ran a simulation of an assemble but the forces exerted on the model don't seem to tranfer on to other components. The components are connected through spotwelds. I have attached a picture that might explain the problem better. In the picture I have applied SPC BCs at the door hinge and latch. On the outer panel I then applied a high force along the nodes on the center line of the door. As you can see from the picture the forces on the outer panel don't transfer on to the likes of the impact beam. Could anyone advise me on what I should do to fix the problem? Thanks

Hi All There's an option to change BC icon size in Hypermesh, but nothing like that for load. Where should I change the load vector size with respect to my model?
9. TCL Force and SPC on local system

Hello Everyone ! I would like to set up a problem on Hypermesh which include around a hundred load cases (in linear static). To automate it, I found a TCL which "allows a simple template to be created to define the loadcases; useful for creating large numbers of static loadcases very quickly and easily" (link) Thanks to a little VBA, I've just succeed in transforming my Excel data base into a readable txt file for this TCL script. And it works. But my problem is this TCL script only applies my forces (and SPC) on the global system. Is there a solution, and how can modify the TCL script so that it can apply my load cases on a specific local system (expressed into the .txt for each load cases) ? If someone can help me to takle this problem, I will be sooo grateful (Because I've never learnt how to program in TCL) Thanks in advance, Best regards, Hervé Archives.zip

11. fatigue How to apply step load (such as 200, 400, 600,...,1800) in OptiStruct

If we want to increase force as a step load method (step load method is when force done to an object is increased in to steps such as 200, 400, 600, and etc) in optistruct to analyze fatigue, what do we have to do? Show in figure
12. What Load step to use with a ball joint?

Short Version I am quite new to FEA and HyperWorks and am modelling a suspension bridge with a distributed load and a ball-joint to connect the vertically running cables to the main cables and deck, but with a Linear Static load step the joints are ignored. Slightly-longer version The bridge I am modelling is the Humber Suspension Bridge found near Kingston upon Hill, England. The model has a distributed force across the top nodes and I have attempted to connect a few vertically running cables to the deck using a ball joint from the Mesh > Create > 1D Elements > Joints menu. The deck and support have been imported from CATIA and then (2D) meshed whilst the cables have been created using lines then line-meshed with a Beam Section. When I attempt to run the analysis with a Linear Static load step the Solver View states the joints are ignored and "MBD cards are present in the data, but there is no MBD sub cases. JOINTs, MBD loads and other MBD cards will be ignored". So I attempt to use a Multi-Body Dynamics load step but I'm not entirely sure what to put in the variables other than my constraints in the SPC. My forces are currently of load type FORCE, should they be MBFRC? Kind Regards
