  1. Hello, I compared maximum stress of my model in a linear static analysis with different materials. I went from steel to 7075 aluminum (lower youngs modulus and higher cross contraction number). The rest of my model including the load cases stayed the same and i expected the stress to be higher in the case of aluminum because of its lower youngs modulus. But the exact opposite was the case. How can this be explained? I did some research and found this quote in a PDF from altair (https://www.altairuniversity.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/postproc.pdf) : "Changing the material will not require rerunning the analysis for stress (in case of linear static analysis) and a decision could be taken just by comparing the maximum stress value with the yield / ultimate strength of the material" So i get different stresses in a linear static analysis with different materials, but this quote says an analysis rerun is not required. I am confused. I highly appreciate if anyone has an explanation for this. Thank you very much, Johannes
  2. With update from 2019.1 to 2019.2, the Manage and Transfer tabs are gone from the Material form. Hence, one cannot import their own MATERIALS.xml set of standard materials into the Simlab model.
  3. Greetings all, I am doing Vehicle Frontal Crash simulation. I have below mentioned queries while using some default cards, material and properties in radioss. HEXA SPOT WELD- P43_CONNECT-M59_CONNECT (Default) HEXA ADHESIVE- P43_CONNECT-M59_CONNECT (Default) Since i dont have exact material information for SPOT and Adhesive is it advisable using this default values and curves. If i try using MAT1 instead of M59 there is part, mat incompatible error popping out since those wont obey the material law. Please advise with better solution.
  4. Hi, I was trying to introduce the mechanical properties for a composite component made of CFRP (Composite Fibre Reinforced Polymer). As I'm a beginner, I'm following the book Practical Aspects of Finite Element Simulation by Altair University. In there, I've found mechanical properties for many other materials, as I show in the image, but I can't find some general properties to define CFRP. Moreover, as it is an orthotropic material, I've learnt from the tutorials that I need to specify more data. Can anyone help me to find the general properties I need in the picture for MAT8 in order to define CFRP material? If possible, I'd like to see the reference for checking it up.   6. Currently I’m working on my thesis and for this I’m using Hypermesh 2017. I have a few questions regarding Hypermesh 2017 and I would be really thankful if you could help me: I’m using a model, with 6 sides, which should be constrained with MPC on 3 sides and also be restrained on the other 3 sides. I actually couldn’t find the exact option for the restraints, so I guessed the best option is to use the “Suport1”. So I wanted to ask you, if you would recommend this “Suport1” for restraining the model or is there another option to restrain? The question here is: what do you want to achieve? To constraing the structure by locking single degrees of freedom to zero displacement, please use the SPC type for constraints. The MPC type is meant to lock a degree of freedom from one node to another node (e.g. Node 1 should move the same amount in x as Node 2) The Suport Constraint is meant only for inertia relief analysis - so for cases in which you constrain a structure by defining an opposing force (e.g a plane wing in the air is held by an opposing inertia force). The Force/Pressure which should be applied to the model increases in proportion. So I wanted to ask you, where do I find the option to solve this Please use the "equation" option in the forces panel to define a force / pressure distribution which is e.g. linearly increasing Which is the best Material Card for ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) in Optistruct? I have the stress-strain-curve and also the values for E, Nu, and Rho? I can't really answer this, as it depends on your material curve (which I do not know). For a general stress strain curve, please use the MATS1 Material model MATHE would be the correct material, if your material has a hyperelastic behaviour Is there a Material Card for Visco-Elasticity Material in Optistruct? Is there an option to define MPCs and Restraints in Radioss Block100? Or is this only possible in Optistruct? You can define constraints also for the RADIOSS Solver by using the RADIOSS User Profile in HyperMesh

HyperMeshのComparison機能を用いてメッシュ形状の比較は出来ますが、板厚やマテリアル情報なども含めて比較したい場合は、HVVH(HyperWorks Verification and Validation Harness)ツールを用いると便利です。 一般のテキストエディタの場合、記述行が違ったり、各値の右詰/左詰が異なるだけでも違いがあると判定されますが、今回ご紹介するツールを用いるとそれらを無視した比較が可能です。 なお、当機能の利用には、HyperWorks Desktop2017.2.3のアップデートが必要です。 ①Windowsのスタート⇒HyperWorks⇒Toolsから、HyperWorks Verification and Validation Harnessを起動します。 ②PVVタブ⇒FE Model⇒FE Model comparison機能で、各項目を設定します。 ③ボタンを押すと、比較が開始されます。 ④Model Compareに、Passと表示された場合は差分がありません。Failと表示された場合はFailボタンを押すと下図のように、差分が表示されます。

  9. Hello, I have a magnetisation curve for my material and wanted to make it in Flux by the option: nonlinear magnet decribed by a spline. There I have to specify the "Transversal relative permeability". What is this? And what value makes sense? What does it mean if it's equal to 1? Thank you in advance.
  10. Hello, I wanted to increase my numerical memory in the options menu in Flux Supervisor. The following error massage comes: "no materials database defined" (see Picture). But when I start a Project the database exists. So I don't understand why this error massage comes. Does someone know what to do? Thanks.
  11. Hi, I am using the Incremental Radioss in Hyperform. It would be of great help if you could help me with the procedure for adding or editing the FLC curve (forming limit curve) for the material in hyperform. The tutorial says it has an option for FLC under the setup tool. But I could not find that option in the setup menu. I am using the Hyperform 2017 full version. kindly guide me. Also, can you kindly help me with evaluating the result file. I am not getting the .res file even after the simulation gets over. How do I get the .res files? Or how can I evaluate the results without that file. Thank you and help me as soon as possible.
  12. Hi, I am using Hyperform 2017.1 Incremental Radioss. I run two simulations. The first one as mesh size 50 and user added material (DP1180). The simulation was successful. But then the second simulation was, with mesh size 2.7 and material as CRQD (default material in the database). The other parameters and the geomtery of the model are the same for both the simulations. The first simulation got over in 30 minutes. For the second simulation, it was able to write till animation file 6 in 20 minutes and then stopped in few min in animation file 7. For you reference, it is in the same animation file 7 for the past two days? Can I quit the process or still it is running? Can you please sort out this. Thank you.
  13. Hi, I am using Incremental Radioss. There are few default material available in the database. When running the simulation with those default material, the simulation runs successfully (though it has 0 errors and 2 warnings. The warning is related to the material property). But I am using a different material which I add it in the database manually. When running the simulation with the manually added material, I get the error in simulation running or the simulation gets stopped in the middle while it is running few animation files. In the summary page, I get 0 errors and 2 warnings, the same one which I got while running with the default materials. The difference is that, the simulation gets over when running with the default material but it isn't getting completed with the manually added materials. The material I am adding is DP1200 steel. Have attached with the screenshot of the error. Error : 2 warning id :1084 Warning in material law1 When referring to material law1, it says it is related to the elasticity of the material. But I have given the input values properly. Kindly help me as soon as possible and thanks in advance.
  14. Hello, I am using hyperform to evaluate the springback compensation of a component. I need to add a new material in the hyperform database to run the simulation. I created a notepad file with the material properties and saved it in the installed path of the hyperform in the respective material folder. The name of the material which I added is displayed in the software while creating parameters for the simulation. But the properties of the materials are not listed. I tried with the following extension files - .rad and .txt and .wri. But I could not choose the material to run the simulation. May I know the format how to create the notepad file with the material properties and in which format should it be created. Thank you and I kindly request you to help me regarding this issue.
  15. 材料則2(Johnson-Cook則)は鋼材やアルミ等の金属材料の材料則として、良く用いられるものですが、そのパラメータは以下のようにして求めることが出来ます。 まず、引張り試験の実測の応力-ひずみ曲線から真応力-真ひずみ(対数ひずみ)の関係に変換し、更に真ひずみからσ/Eで弾性成分を差し引いて、縦軸真応力、横軸真塑性ひずみのグラフが得られているものとします。Johnson-Cookの式はひずみ速度依存と温度依存を除くと、 σ=a + b εpn の指数関数で降伏後の硬化曲線を近似しますが、この式は、 σ- a = b εpn の形にした後で、両辺の対数をとれば、 log(σ- a) = log(b εpn) = log(b) + n log(εp) と直線になります。これらのパラメータのうちaは降伏応力ですのでεpが0のときのσの値で、後はbとnを決めれば良い事になりますが、対数の形にした後は直線ですので、最小2乗法を用いれば、実測σ-εpの関係からフィッティングを行うことが出来ます。 実測のカーブからのデータ処理の詳細は、Radiossユーザーズ/リファレンスガイドの例題11-引張り試験をご覧ください。
  16. Hey, I tried to do to NL elastic Simulation. (followed the steps from the video https://altairuniversity.com/analysis/structural/nonlinear/nlstat-tutorial-pressure-load-on-a-chair/) but I don't get convergence. The model works actually with elastic material law. So I don't know what I have to change. Can someone have a look, please?) Furthermore, I just have the "yield strength", "ultimate strength" and "elongation at break". so actually it would be enough to put a bilinear material law. is that somehow possible or is there just the way with the table?

  19. Hi all, As we know, we can get a stress-strain curve by doing a tensile test. But how to simulation this tensile test process to validate the parameters? In the tensile test, the loading velocity was very low (about 2mm/min), how can we simulate this in software? Roy
  20. Hello guys, I am trying to simulate plastic deformations with Optistruct and I am struggling to find the proper material card image. I have all the data (values for true strain/true stress), young's module, isotropic, solid metal etc. As far as I understand it should be non linear since we have plastic deformations (?), no change of temperature or heat. I really appreciate any help or advice :-) Cheers
  21. Hi All Trying to run an Optistruct analysis to see how two layers of different materials will displace when experiencing a thermal load. In my case I have chosen points along a lattic where the temperature would be 80degC. But when running my model in Optistruct and in trying to view the results, the model cannot show a viable solution or a solution that makes sense, in fact, I have not setup the pre processing properly (it seems) which has lead to a model with massive deformation. Also I am unable to view the contours. The attached picture shows circled areas (red) where I have made equivalence nodes, there is an expected connection at these points (not defined).   25. Hello guys, I'm currently trying to simulate a 3 point bending test to get the best material arrangement for high bending stiffness in a composite monocoque, while keeping the weight low. The laminate i strive for is a sandwich structure with an aramide honeycomb core in the centre and three plies of different material on top and on the bottom. These are the steps I did so far: 1) I created a CAD model, imported it to HyperMesh, organized the componets (specimen, impactor, support) and meshed them with 2D elements. 2) I created the materials. MAT1 for the impactor and the support of the 3 point bending test, MAT8 for the different plies and MAT9ORT for the honeycomb core. 3) After that I created the properties. PSHELL with an elementthickness of 2 for the impactor and support, PCOMPP for the plies and PSOLID with the honeycomb material for the core. 4) Then I created the different plies. 6 with the MAT8 material for the top and bottom layers and 5 with the MAT9ORT material for the core to get a total of 5 elements over the thickness of the core. The material type for all plies is ORTHOTROPIC. 5.1) I created a laminate with the 5 core plies and then did a "shell to solid conversion" with this laminate. After that I got a new component with 5 elements over the thickness. [5.2) In a second try I did the "shell to solid conversion" with the plies of the core which led to the same result as 5.1] 6) I assigned the PCOMPP property to the specimen elements, otherwise the laminate and layers weren't visible over 2D detailed element representation. 7) I updated the laminate with the other 6 plies. 8) Finally I created the load collectors and the load step, an output request for CSTRAIN and CSTRESS 9) I started OptiStruct to run the analysis. But after a few seconds i got these errors: *** ERROR 14: Missing MAT # 5 referenced by PLY # 7, (existing MAT with this ID is of incorrect type). *** ERROR 14: Missing MAT # 5 referenced by PLY # 8, (existing MAT with this ID is of incorrect type). *** ERROR 14: Missing MAT # 5 referenced by PLY # 9, (existing MAT with this ID is of incorrect type). *** ERROR 14: Missing MAT # 5 referenced by PLY # 10, (existing MAT with this ID is of incorrect type). *** ERROR 14: Missing MAT # 5 referenced by PLY # 11, (existing MAT with this ID is of incorrect type). *** Errors with missing, incorrect or duplicate IDs found 5 times. So when I got back to the model to check the properties, I wasn't sure if the PSOLID property and the MAT9ORT material are assigned to the plies in the laminate or to the new created component for the solids of the conversion. I want to get a laminate with from top to bottom: 3 layers of PCOMPP MAT8, the PSOLID MAT9ORT core and then 3 layers of PCOMPP MAT8 again. Is it even possible to creat such a laminate and if yes, in wich order should I assign the properties and creat the laminate?Or are there other ways to simulate this kind of sandwich structure in HyperMesh and OptiStruct?
