  1. Hello Getting a problem in analysis, my 3D geometry goes into single plane during analysis.
  2. I want to mesh and get error Sphere1.Region58 breaks the symmetry definition. Either it does not have a symmetrical counterpart, or it is not symmetrical around the plane. How can i remove those planes?
  3. Hi All, Is it possible to duplicate and translate a surface with existing mesh at one time (both surfs & mesh)? I would like to create a multiple copies of a surface with mesh prepared first at the pattern component. How to achieve this in a fast way? Thanks.
  4. I am very much new to tcl .. It would be highly appreciable if anyone can help me with the logic I have a model and it somewhat looks like the one shown in the figure. the free space shown at the centre is also not exactly as that shown in the pic. It can be of any shape. The shape of the free space can be an hole or in a zig zag manner also. My OBJECTIVE is to fill this free space with MESH. So my logic is to find the free edges and mesh the center free edge area. Can anyone please give me some clue how to proceed? Is there any similar type of tcl available in script exchange?

  6. Hi, how can i fix this Teste1.STL
  7. How do I create mesh for horn antenna?
  8. Hi, I've been provided with a hm model and need to carry out some geometry changes. However, the component I have been given is 3D tetrameshed without any surfaces. Is there anyway I can generate a surface from the provided tetra? I've tried using the surface from FE function but as I only have a 3D this wouldn't work. Thanks in advance, Tom
  9. The geometry was output from Solidworks. I did the mesh in Hypermesh by creating a vertical 2D element and spin 180 degrees and then reflect another half. No connectivity issue in check element tool. The .inp file was imported in Abaqus, a pressure was added to the upper surface of the inner part, and the results were as follows: the elements of the inner part overlapped each other. Since I have meshed model directly in Abaqus before, as for the same force they should be sinking down together instead of separated into two parts. Is there anything wrong with the mesh connectivity or any advice for meshing in Hypermesh? Attached the before and after loading, as well as the .inp exported from Abaqus. hpmtest.inp
  10. Hello, I'm trying to mesh a simple rectangular beam (200mmx50mmx50mm) with a uniform mesh throughout as seen in the example photo. When I carry out a 5mm volume tetra mesh it generates uniform elements on the surfaces but this is not the case inside as seen in the attached photo. How can I achieve a uniform element pattern throughout as seen in the example photo? Thanks in advance, Tom
  11. Hello all, I'm a beginner in HM and I would like to create a macro that will allow me to extract the mid surface of a part and after that it will mesh this mid surface. I need this for my job. I hope to be clear enough. Thank you Vincent
  12. Hy everyone, I am a newbie and I am trying to get ab better understanding of Meshing in general. On that quest I have been reeding my way throught this Forum but I did only find something very specified requests of how to mesh this speciel form or size or verry general information. As I understand it, there is not the one concept that works or the one technique that is the best. But every engineer needs guidelines and general idea where a valid solution might to be found. 1. What tyypes of elements are there? 2.when do I use which elementtype? As I understood so far, this depends on: the form of my part; the kind of the analysis(stress or displacement); the elementsize i want to use. 3. How do I decide the elementsize? As I understood so far, you have do make a compromise between the numeric mistake, which is getting bigger proportional to the number of elements and therefore antiproportional to the elementsize and the mistake concluding from bigger elements and there rough not fitting shape. I realize that it sounds like I am asking for an all-in-all-solution but i really need more basic information. I would also be very happy if you link me to some helpful explenations. Thanks for any help, to be given. That beeing said I admire how productive this forum seems to be. regards Nikolai
  13. Hi I have two objects and object A locates inside of object B. The outer object B is already meshed and saved as hm file. Object A is imported from IGES file. So I open B.hm file and import A.igs . I used boolean operation; {A-B,B}(cut A with B ). After boolean, I tried to mesh object A, but I cannot mesh it and the mesh is just attached to the inner surface of B. I would like to have hex mesh for B and tet mesh for A. Anyone can help me with meshing object A? I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Jay
  14. Hi, I try to make a core shift simulation (multiple bodies) in Moldflow with boundary layers. I used the boolean operation to find the common faces and meshed them after this. The nodes look good, I do not see any intersection or failure, but in Moldflow I always get an error: ** ERROR 304717 ** A node has been found which belongs to both a part element and another element which is not in the part. This is not supported. Please check the mesh connectivity and the element property types. Does anybody know, how can I fix this? Regards, Béla

    Guidelines for meshing

I am new to HyperWorks.I have to mesh a complex profile in HyperWorks. Please go through the shared model. Please give me some suggestions, and I need hexa mesh. Thanks, Rahul
  16. Hi. At a recent Flux conference, I heard that SimLab has very interesting tools for viewing a mesh and I was hoping to use it to observe the meshing of the air in my 3D models, which is an absolute pain in Flux itself. Is there any documentation on how I can open my meshed geometry from Flux in SimLab? Thank you in advance! Romain
  17. Hi All If I get mesh quality error, and even after disabling the mesh quality check I get a fatal error. how is it possible to remesh a meshed part ? does the mesh overwrites ? should I apply the correlating BC and loads again ? what about material and properties?
  18. Hi all what is the meaning of the number in tetcollpase blank which is by default set to 0.3 ?
  19. I'm a relatively new user of Hypermesh v12.0 and have run into an issue when trying to use the 2D Automesh on a particular geometry. I am meshing an elliptical cylinder with interior stiffeners, i.e., frames, intercostals, etc. that are bolted together. I am modeling the vessel with 2D, first order elements and am modeling all fasteners and fastener holes. The problem that I run into is that the 2D automesher (including midsurface mesher) performs one of three operations: Failed surface mesh Meshes only around the holes (this is when I specify washers in the parameter/criteria files) Meshes over holes/cutouts that are below a certain diameter I've reworked and modified all parameters and criteria that I feel are relevant and even those that I feel are irrelevant. Further, when I perform topological cleanup and have the preprocessor locate and tag holes, it tags all holes except for those above a certain diameter (so Hypermesh is treating the larger and smaller cutouts differently). No matter what, I cannot mesh this structure and the direction that I feel I am taking now is non-intuitive and quite frankly arbitrary. Any guidance would be appreciated.
  20. Hey guys, maybe I am unaware of a setting which causes this, but at least to me, this is strange. I have a modified version of the CClip Tutorial and when I mesh it, the geometry changes and neither the geometry nor the mesh has a node where it should be. .gif and .hm attached. Thanks in advance, Merula meshChangesGeom.hm
  21. I tried meshing in a Fillet edge whose Fillet radius is 3. I specified element size of 0.5 but I cant able to cover the fillet surface entirely. I also tried on the fillet surface of intersection where Cylinder and a Flat plate meets. How to overcome this issue? I varied Element Size and Element density too. Thank you in Advance
  22. Hello, I have some problems about solid hexa mesh for spherical shape a piece of which is eliminated. When I want to mesh around the hole, the shape become solid sphere and I don't want this to be happen. Can anyone tell me please that how should I mesh around the hole with hexa solid mesh. The model is presented as follows. Thank so much for your time
  23. I obtained a download of an inhomogeneous human head model which was pre-meshed, from the looks of it. This model includes an "airbox" surrounding the human. Here's an image with a cutplane on top of the airbox to see the human inside: I wish to place a source near the head to simulate the near fields, but placing anything inside the airbox will cause errors since the meshes of the source will interfere with the mesh of the "airbox." Naturally, I tried simply deleting the airbox and re-simulating, but this error appears: Also, the downloaded human model seems to be of a different type than a normal created construction, since I see a different blue icon to the left of the model's material items: Has anyone run into this issue before? I can't place a source in the airbox mesh, and I can't delete the mesh without ruining the model for some reason. Any ideas? Thanks, Drew
