  1. Hi, When we do assembly meshing in hypermesh the two assemblied surface penetrate with each other. If we convert it to ansys or lsdyna the penetration give some problems during analysis. So how to correct those problem. Can anyone help me to solve this issue. 1. Part1 is blue and Part2 is green in colour. 2. Wireframe mesh diagram of the two part 3. Zoomed view of the mesh area. Here the penetration of part 1 into part 2 is visible. Now how to correct the problem, give me some solution with pdf or video or any other type. Waiting for your reply.   2. Hi, I heard that Penetration is defined as the overlap of the material thickness of shell elements, while Intersection is defined as elements that actually pass completely through one another. My model is as follows. Thickness of the Solid component 'top' is 1T. When I make 'bottom', I use 'translate -> duplicate-> z-direction -1'. (Thickness of each component is 1T.) So I think there is no overlap between 2 solid components. But Penetration check tool detect penetrations. Why does it happen? It means there is overlap between 2 components? Thanks
  3. Hello All, I have two components say A and B, some nodes on part A are intersecting part B. I am cheking it with hm_collisioncheck but I dont want to fix it with *collisionfix_temp, I want to move entire component A away from B with the amount equal to the interference. Is it possible to "read the penetration value (max depth) from collision check command" so that I can translate the entire component by that amount in my TCL scripts. OR Any other way to find this by co-ordinates of nodes? Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi All, I want to create 2 solid blocks touching each other and bolted together. I meshed them and when I import the same in Hypercrash and checked for intersections, it shows me an intersection. I have tried to resolve this by Remove intersections option or 3D mesh editing, but could not remove this intersection.   6. Hello! I'd like to create a bullet as shown in the image attached. It has a core and a jacket around it. They're touching but have no penetrations. I drew the geo in SolidWorks and imported. But when I use the general approach of partitioning and solid mapping, in my analysis it will show penetrations between the jacket and core. How do I go about avoiding this?

  8. Hi all, I'm performing a dynamic simulation using RADIOSS solver. I'm creating this kind of model : I used a COMPSH material law and an SH_ORTH property in order to model an "equivalent material", with a 4 mm thickness. When I run the analysis, I've issues regarding penetrations in my model. Nevertheless, when I want to fix them using the Penetration Check tool, elems are totaly deformed. Could you please help me with this model ? Best regards, Raphael
  9. Hello Sir, I'm working on bullet penetration into steel plate. At first contact works beetwen bullet and plate, but next it doens't work so good (picture 1). Finally, contact again work (picture 2) and I don't know where is a problem. On top of that, the speed of the projectile doesn't decrease (picture 3). Contact settings: Type 7 Istf: 4 Igap: 2 Fric: 0.2 Gapmin: 0.1 Inacti: 6 I tried a lot of contact setting, among others: Type 7 Istf: 4 Igap: 2 Idel: 2 Fpenmax: 0,8 Stmin: 1000 Fric: 0,1 Gapmin: 0,04 Inacti: 6 Iform: 2 but still doesn't work.   11. Hi, I've working with a model defined with shell finite elements on Hypermesh 13 and have been having trouble after the definition of the properties cards of the model. When I specify the thickness of the surface, a lot of penetrations (on more than 2000 elements) appear on my model and the automatic fix tool doesn't seem to work on them. I've verified and there aren't any geometrical intersections on the surfaces. My questions are: How can I avoid such problems or configure the model in order to prevent them? When defining the thickness of a surface, this surface is assumed to be a mid plane so the thickness is distributed equally to both sides? Can this be modified? Thank you in advance for your help.
  12. Hi all, /RWALL was used for edge drop simulation. However, the penetration was found. The edge had a small initial distance to the rigid wall and a distance was used to define the slave nodes. How to solve the penetration? Roy
  13. Hello, i am simulating a contact (slide) between a pin and a lug. At the beginning of the motion everything is fine, but at the end the pin is penetrating the lug. The pins displacement is implemented with a constraint. I already tried to change master and slave, but it didn't work. I have no idea what to do next, do someone have some hints maybe? I attached a screenshot of my card settings and the movement of the pin.
  14. Hi everyone, I'm trying to model a cylindrical section being held between a grip that tightens around it. When I look at each jaw however, I have a contact pressure concentration in one area and I can't seem to find out why. I'm using Optistruct V13 and I use the auto-contact tool to create the contacts between each component. I have checked for penetration between these components and there is none (there is between two other pieces but I do not look at these). I have quite a fine mesh as I'm looking at this specific area (mesh size 0.5mm). Does anyone know what I could do to get rid of this point? Could it be that these nodes are slightly irregular and 'sticking out' slightly from the component? Thank you for any help you may be able to give me!

Hi there, I m performing a 3-point bending analysis on a beam (L=250mm, Squared Cross-section 30*30) and once I refine my mesh to a certain degree (elements' characteristic length < 0.5mm) I start getting error messages sent by RADIOSS. The first tells me I have initial penetration on my self-impact interface and the second is message error id 22: ShellID ... has 2 identical nodes that are not 3&4. Any idea on how to solve these issues? I ve already tried to decrease the minimum gap for initial impact, but it didn't work. Any help would be great Thanks
  17. Hello, i try to mesh a Wing for CFD Analysis with VWT. In the Analysis of the Mesh i have a lot of intersections and the automatic fix is not working. The Endplates are out of Solids. The rest of the Wing is out of Surfaces. I deleted the solids and kept the surfaces of the solids but there was the same problem again. How can i remove those self intersections? (see dropboxfile) or Is there maybe a way to trim components with other components and merge the surfaces of those components?   18. Hi, I have multiple solid components. For my Analysis, I'd like to connect some of the components in certain Areas, but not everywhere where the components "touch". In order to do that, I equivalenced some of the nodes of the two components, which works absolutely fine for my model. But: I would still like to have some of the solids' surfaces not to be connected with equivalenced nodes, but at the same time the surfaces (that are next to each other and in undefined contact) should not be able to penetrate each other during the nodal displacement of a static analysis. How can I create the option that a surface is defined as "not penetratable"? I tried different things, for example creating contact surfaces on each component. But that does not work as I thought it would. Could anyone help me, please? I would be happy to receive any kind of hint or short explanation. Thank you! Regards Hampel
