  1. Hello Everyone, I would like to know what is the difference between Elemental System, Global System, Analysis System. I am interested in this since hypermesh allows to extract (strains,stress,element forces etc) from each of these systems. I regularly use the one that is by default "Element system" but I want to understand what is the difference between them and what can I obtain different of each of them. Thank you for your time!
  2. Hello, I have been trying to assign a local coordinate system to a group of constraints and my model so that I can load it in a direction specified by the local coordinate system. Therefore, I believe I need to use the Mesh>Assign>Node Analysis System and BCs>Assign>Load Reference System for all my constraints and model nodes. However, when trying to assign the Node Analysis System, only "set displacement" works. "set reference" gives an error saying that "Nodes defining a system cannot be assigned to it". I have a feeling this is why my Optistruct simulation is quite bad. Interestingly, I tried the same method on a very simple box model in a separate model, and created a coordinate system using the nodes of the box. I was able to "Set reference" without a problem, and I could see a clear change in the OptiStruct displacements to the new local coordinate system. I am wondering why my other model does not allow me to set the reference. Any advice is very appreciated.

  5. Hi, I need help modeling polar array (rotational symmetry) using system/assembly. When instancing the sub-systems they stay at their original position and orientation. There is an option System translation, but no rotation. The 4 sectors needs to be attached to central polygon as well as to adjacent sector. Is there a way to automatically align subsystems with attachments? polar_array.mdl SECTOR.mdl

  8. Hi, I have a little problem with exporting local coordinate systems. I need them to postprocess welds but I don't use them in the analysis, so I must assign at least one node to the system that I have created. I do it by using this menu: Once I have assigned the nodes to the system (with "set displacemente" button), I export the model and I get a piece of code from the exported file like this: *TRANSFORM, TYPE=R, NSET=HM_auto_transform_14AA0 -4.463E-08, -0.9995139, 0.03117584, -1.0 , 1.4901E-08, -9.537E-07 **HMORIENT ORIGIN 3.2 ,-1.324 ,-0.18998 I was wondering if there is a way to export a local coordinate system with a NSET previously created in HyperMesh by using TCL. I know you can do this changing the button in HyperMesh (like I show in the image below), but when I try to do this with tcl commands, HM ignores it. Furthermore, in the command file this action is not recorded.   9. Hi, i am working in Hypermesh with Abaqus Standard 3D Template. I try to import a Input file with a reference to a include file with coordinate systems. Incule File looks like: **HMNAME SYSTEMCOL Orient1, 1, 3 *ORIENTATION, NAME = Orient1, DEFINITION = NODES, SYSTEM = RECTANGULAR 3, 1, 2 3,-45.0 I get the following warning: Warning: *ORIENTATION card with DEFINITION= OFFSET TO NODES is not supported in Hypermesh-ABAQUS Resolution: This card would not have read in correctly into Hypermesh. My Question: How can I change the Orientation defintion to get it work in Hypermesh without loosing information about the systems? Thank you.

How to build a new coordinate system at a node with given angle to global system? 3.   11. Hello, I tried a quick search but did not find my answer; sorry if it is trivial but it is causing me a hard time! I created node reference systems in Hypermesh. I solve my non linear problem with Radioss and my coordinate defining nodes move during the simulation (hence my coordinate systems *should* follow them). My qyestion is: how can I make my systems visible in Hyperview 2017 so that I can see how they moves and behaves in time during the simulation? Thanks

  13. Hello Everyone ! I would like to set up a problem on Hypermesh which include around a hundred load cases (in linear static). To automate it, I found a TCL which "allows a simple template to be created to define the loadcases; useful for creating large numbers of static loadcases very quickly and easily" (link) Thanks to a little VBA, I've just succeed in transforming my Excel data base into a readable txt file for this TCL script. And it works. But my problem is this TCL script only applies my forces (and SPC) on the global system. Is there a solution, and how can modify the TCL script so that it can apply my load cases on a specific local system (expressed into the .txt for each load cases) ? If someone can help me to takle this problem, I will be sooo grateful (Because I've never learnt how to program in TCL) Thanks in advance, Best regards, Hervé Archives.zip
  14. Hi all, I want to do a drop simulation, but the direction of the rigid wall is not parallel to the global axis direction. So I think a new system with one plane parallel to the rigid wall should be defined. I think first I should define a system parallel to global system, then rotate the new system to the target direction. The system panel was used to define the system, however I found the system was a moving system, so how to define a fix system in HyperMesh? Best Wishes Roy

  16. Hello, I´m new at HyperMesh and I´d like to know how can I simulate a very simple spring-mass system in HyperMesh to obtain the modal frequency of it. Can somebody help me? Which elements, property and type of analysis should I use? Thanks in advance.
  17. I am creating a model using thin shell surfaces for a ship-type structure where the side slopes outwards from the bottom. I would like to be able to cut the side stiffeners on a plane normal to the sloping side, not parallel to the global axes. I have created an axis system with the Z axis normal to the side, but use of this system seems to be very inconsistent in Hypermesh v13. I can create a surface by extruding a line in the local Z direction, but I can't create a line by extruding a node. I can't create nodes using coordinates along the local system. I can't break a surface on any plane except one of the global planes. I have done what I want by creating a vector then a line then a surface and breaking self-intersecting surfaces, but it is very long-winded. It would be so much easier if I could break the surface using local planes at a given base node! Any chance of Hypermesh adding a local system option to the edit - surface - plane form?

Greetings, I'm trying to read data from a node path that I've selected, using the way shown here http://www.altairhyperworks.com/pdfs/tips/1068.pdf I can see the "resolved in" option but I'm unable to change it to my cylindrical local coordinate system. Modeled in hypermesh and solved in abaqus, in Hypermesh I assigned my local csys to all nodes, still no luck. I'll be grateful if someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance.
  19. I am running an impact simulation and i want to plot the energy of the system and its components (strain, translational kinetic, rotational kinetic, hourglass, etc). I am using radioss block as the solver. So far i have managed to find how to do it for individual elements but not for parts or globally (system). My question is the following. Do i need to specify some kind of output request for that cause or is it done automatically and available somewhere in Hyperview? To get a sense of what i want to plot i am attaching an image from the pipe impact tutorial. The plot on the bottom of the image is what i want to have.
