Hi, I have created 1D beam (using PBeam element) and preform torsional analysis (using optistruct) by applying fixed support at one end and moment (torque) at other end. When i visualize the results in hyperview, it does not show me the shear stresses. Can anyone help me regarding how to get the shear stresses in 1D beam torsional analysis? Regards, Shahzaib Ilyas

Hello Is it possible to model a 1D element that fails in either tension or shear? I would like analyze a breakaway feature on a structure that absorbs a portion of the impact energy and breaks off. Fracture can be either in tension (i.e cable) or in shear (i.e shear pin). Thank you

Hi, Instead of rubber bellows I have used Cbush element and given stiffness to it. I want to give preload also. I have checked we cannot give preload to cbush element. CROD,CBAR,CBEAM support for giving preload. Is there any option (spring type) to give preload and stiffness to 1D element simultaneously ? Please let me know soon. Regards, Pratik

Hi, I'm struggling with a seemingly basic issue in hypermesh. I'd like to know if there's a way to reverse the direction of a cbush element? That is, interchanging node A <-> node B of the cbush. Actually, the same question applies for any king of 1D element ... Thanks in advance!

1D Elements are created in Line by using 1D --> Line Mesh option. All lines are mesh, which shows the nodes while meshing. After Elements are created, by using Cross section visualization tool, Some Elements are not having the Cross sectional property. Which is displayed as a line only. Other lines are displayed as Circular cross section.

Hello, I would like to simulate a void as a region within my model that should not experience any deformation - to not damage any structure that may be place there e.g. a bearing. This is to be for a topology optimisation simulation, then how (if it is possible) can it be approached so that the optimal topology maintains the shape of the void? To expand, if I have a circular hole where a bearing should be placed and I do not want the deformation of the model to damage this bearing, how can I contrain the hole to maintain its shape during the topology optimisation? I would not like to use RBE2s or a nondesign space as this will effect the way the load paths are transferred. Will RBE3s work? If not, is there an alternative? Thank you in advance.
