  1. Dear Experts, I'm new to Hypermesh and need some advice on the meshing in it. I'm trying to model a composite unit cell. I have the yarns and their geometry from an external software in an *.stp format but I need to fill the domain with 3D elements which can act as a matrix of the composite. How can I perform this action in Hypermesh? I have tried booleans but they fail due to contact between the yarns at intersections. If booleans can be used, can you please tell me how can I improve it. Kind Regards 3S.stp
  2. Hi all, How to control the element size for a volume 3D mesh? For example, how can we set the element size for a local area to control the local element mesh? Roy
  3. Hello! I have created a 3D mesh in hypermesh with 2nd order (Quad 20) elements type and export this mesh geometry in .bdf format. When I try to import this 3D mesh into MSC Patran, it only import nodes but not the elements. Is there any solution regarding this problem? Regards Shahzaib Ilyas
  4. dear all, i have meshed a model with tetraelements and i want to constrain a structure at 3 top points where i want to have a pin joint.. i have created it as follows i created a rbe2 in the hole surface and at mid node i have applied constraint.. i.e i want to have a rotation along Y-axis here so i have constrained all five dof except 5.. and i am attaching my HM file with this kindly let me know whether what i have done is right or wrong? if it is wrong kindly let me know what is the right way to do it.. 5. I have a full vehicle with Body, Chassis, Suspension, Axle, Cabin, Floor, Roof, Glass, Windshield, Tyre, etc.. in actual manner as in complete assembly. 2D components are present. Now I want to create 3D in a single component for all the 2D components for my analysis. I don't have enough time to mesh all components in 3D & connect. I want to transform the 2D comp to 3D, the may be I can connect all the solids together into 1 component. Please suggest an option. Is there any Batchmesh available or may be tcl script? The Sample 3D model pic is shared for reference. I want the same thing.
  6. Hi All, I have a 3D mesh composed of hex elements of a component that looks like a human rib. How can I change the thickness of this 3D mesh in an effecient way? For example, if want the increased the thickness of this component by 10%, what are some to accomplish this? This mesh does not have any surfaces associated with it. So far, I have been translating the nodes of the 3D face elements along a vector to increase the thickness and I am curious if there is a better way. Any help will be appreciated! Cheeres, Sriram
  7. Hi, I am trying to convert a stl file to 3D mesh using Hypermesh while I get this error; Possible boundary self-interaction found. I have tried to fix it by finding penetration and intersections (just using automatic fix). But, I still getting this error. I appreciate if anyone can help me.
