  1. Hi The Optistruct User Guide says that sensitivities are calculated in the Optistruct using either the Adjoint or Direct Method. I am working on a size optimisation and have a large number of design variables and constraints - the outfput file tells me that the solver is using the direct method. Is it possible for the user to choose which method is used? I'd like to see if I can get the same optimum more effeciently using the Adjoint method. Cheers

Hallo I am having following questions 1) I am doing Modal Frequency response simulation In RLoad load collector there is field called TC (see attached file) which expects input in tabular form i have solver deck in it the values in table is X(1)= 0.0 Y(1)= 1.0, X(2)= 5000 , Y(2)= 1.0 what is this C ( Damping?), Is it material dependant? how is this tabular input defined 2) There is SDamping Control Card I want to know how is the the value of g defined in TABDMP1 table in my case it is 0.02.   3. Hello, I am trying to do a size optimization on a component with PSOLID. The manual I have been referring explicitly states that size optimization has to be done on either 2D or 1D. But I have been asked to do size or gauge optimization on a model with solid mesh. Is there any way that I can achieve this? Thanks.
  4. I'm doing an optimization where I put the response as DRESP1 massfrac. In dconstraints, selected lower bound = 0,6 and upper bound = 0,7 and the following error appears in the solver: *** ERROR # 2150 *** Invalid Volume or Mass Constraint. The response type is the total MASSFRAC the upper bound value = 7.000000E-01 the total volume = 1.805255E+05 the design volume = 1.660834E+04 the total mass = 1.426151E-03 the design mass = 1.312059E-04 The design material fraction (percent) should be at least 3 times the DOPTPRM MINDENS (default 0.01) Solver FAILED optistruct:: Solver run finished. Could anyone help me? Thanks
  5. Is it possible to create contact between two surfaces edges in Optistruct? does it require a special interface type? I tried creating a contact interface with an element set for master and a node set for slave, but it doesn't work. The solver outputs this error: *** ERROR # 1762 *** Incorrect SET type for MSID This video explains how to do what I'm trying to do in the Ansys profile.   7. I am doing topology optimization using Optistruct. I set up the problem in the form of minimizing the Weighted Compliance with volume constraint, since I have several loadsteps. Right now, I am trying to do some manipulations on each of the individual Compliance to set up the new objective function using external response by HyperMath. I use the DRESP3 card to achieve that. The problem is that I can only get access to the summation of all the Weighted Compliance instead of each of them individually. Is there any way to get access to the individual Compliance? For example, I want to get the individual Compliance of Subcase 1 and 2 and do some manipulations as the objective function, such as C1^2+C2^2, not the summation of them.   8. While changing the user proflie in Hw 12 in hypermesh from radioss to optistruct, I get an error. If I skip or click ok it goes but I cant find optistruct in analysis panel. Please reply as early as possible

Data block name "lgnelshl". Current memory allocation 1883 MB, Unused memory 1 MB, Number of blocks: 163 used, 1 free. Need at least 1218 MB free (1218 MB more than allocated). ************************************************************************ A fatal error has been detected during input processing: *** ERROR # 8030 *** Request for more memory failed with data block name: lgnelshl. Hello I am trying to run an Optistruct optimisation but I get the following errors: *** ERROR # 157 *** Error opening the scratch file "./Analyse4_8584_s44.rs~" Fortran error code = 9 This may be caused by not having the access right to open the file, not enough memory left for the system routines, or some other system setup related reasons. This error was detected in subroutine opseqscr. *** ERROR # 158 *** Error encountered when accessing the scratch file. error from subroutine "xdslrs" Solver error no. = -702 This may be caused by insufficient disk space or some other system resource related limitations. This error was detected in subroutine bcsprefct. This error occurs in module "lstatdrv". *** FATAL ERROR # 8012 *** Data block kauspc is already inserted. * DATAMANAGER ERROR in subroutine "datami". PROGRAM STOPPED DUE TO ERROR. The constraint is a static stress called in the design variable. The objective is to minimize mass. The check only gives me such a warning: *** WARNING # 1848 Topology Optimization without Minimum Member Size Control activated. Using DTPL card, or DOPTPRM,MINDIM is recommended. Anybody has a clue of what is the problem? I'm a bit stuck here! Cheers
  11. Dear All, how can i activate solvers other than the standard ones in OS? As far as i know, there are two default solvers: BCS for linear static subcases LANCZOS for eigenmode computation and three additional ones: PCG, MUMPS and AMSES What must i do to use the additional ones? Are they requested via command line or control cards?
  12. Hello everyone, I work with Optistruct and I need to analysis the fitting of a bearing inside a housing. How do I set the fitting of m6 / K6 to one part?! It is need to know the contact pressure and how much force it is need to get the bearing inside the housing. I already searched for my problem, but until now I do not find any answer.
  13. Hello, I have done a project to optimize a mold. The default iteration time is 30. At the end, the result of the 30 iteration is divergent. The error is " Iteration limit reached" So i want to try a new calculate with a bigger iteration limit. Can i start the new calculate with the result of my first calculate which has already done 30 times iterations? Thanks a lot for any response.
  14. Hi All I'm a new user to Hyperworks and I am coming up against an error #13: Element # is repeated in the input data. I've tried renumbering my elements in the mesh but still the same error appears however the element number changes. Any ideas on how to progress? Cheers

Hi everyBody I have a steel frame with a steel plate in the centre, with applied a pressure load; at the exteems of frame i have 4 constrains locking DOF1 DOF2 and DOF3; I have used beam element to create the frame and shell elements to create the plate; I have applied a certain pressure on the shell elements, but i need a impulsive load, how can i create it? How can i perform a transient modal analysis? witch load collectors i need to create? Here there are three images to help you to understand. After that i have to output the values of bending moments, shear and normal stress near a intersection of 3 beams element in the frame; then model the intersection with a 3D and apply the loads i have found from the transient modal Analysis. Where can i reed these kind of values concerning a node of the frame? thank for the support Damir
