  1. Hi, I am trying to simulate the Sound pressure using acoustic infinite elements. I have doubt that, is it mendatory to have source as "Shell elements" ? I have solid elements in model, which is surrounded by Fluid elements. and I also have layer of Infinite element on it. Could anyone please confirm it? Thanks in advance. Vikrant Tailor

  3. I am trying to run an example, provided by altair on their help page, about vibroacoustic interaction and wave propagation using infinite elements CACINF3.   4. Hello I want to a component which will be tested using laser velocimeter and "Normal surface velocity" will be measured. (at some points on surface of the component) I want to have this parameter "Normal surface velocity" as output from directresponse analysis or Modal analysis from optistruct.   5. Hi, I have a query regarding an acoustic analysis using Optistruct. I am doing 'Transmission loss' analysis of a duct system. For a start- i am trying with simple expansion chamber problem. I have defined acoustic source (ACSRCE) at inlet and non-reflecting boundary condition at inlet and outlet end of pipe (Using CAABSF element with PAABSF property entry of impedance equal to = “Rho*C”). In frequency response analysis, i have extracted input point (9001) and output point (9002) pressure values. I am using Optistruct_14.0.220_windows solver. Following are the results for Transmission Loss (TL) – { TL = 20 * log10(Pin / Pout) } - I have also calculated transmission loss using analytical approach. Transmission loss in a simple expansion chamber is analytically calculated (worldly proven formula/graph) as shown – The transmission loss Vs Frequency graph from analytical approach is not matching with FEM solution. FEM solution is showing increasing values with extra trough at 144.0 Hz. Does anybody have come across similar problem? Is anything wrong in model definition? I heard of “Annular duct modes boundary condition” (used by software’s like LMS Virtual lab, etc). Are such boundary conditions are also available in Optistruct?
  6. Hi I am trying to analyze the noise heard by the passenger inside the cabin (of vehicle) due to some external acoustic source as well as base excitation due to road. I am using NVH application with Optistruct solver. I am able to analyze the base excitation due to road. But I am not sure how to perform the analysis for noise generated by a far field source. To be more precise how can I create acoustic cavity mesh for fluid outside the cabin and define acoustic source. (Acoustic cavity tab asks only to select structure components and seat components).   7. hi all ! im new here using hypermesh(abaqus as user profile)..i have one problem to ask and share perhaps..did anyone know or has experience about solid-fluid modelling? i am trying to use acoustic element in my axisymmertical acoustic-solid modelling..my problem is I want to use Acoustic Continuum Infinite 2D element..but i dont find for 2Dimensional element..I only found ACIN3D4(Acoustic Continuum Infinite 3D) which is from my knowledge is 3D...so i am not sure I can use 3D infinite acoustic element(ACIN3D4) in my 2D model..Thanks in advance..

Hi all, I want to do an acoustic analysis of a bus cabin with OptiStruct.The bus is exposed to wind effect during driving conditions.To simulate this effect,i used Virtual Wind Tunnel.I could export the pressure values with related node coordinates.I can use these pressure loads,but these values are in time domain and i need to convert it to frequency domain to use in acoustic analysis. (with FFT etc...) Is there any way to make this conversion with HyperWorks softwares ?
  9. Hello, I am new to Hypermesh. I want to perform two things, simulate the acoustic cavity modes of (1) hollow cylinder closed at both ends (2) hollow cylinder open at one end and closed at other end. I am able to do (1) by meshing the hollow closed cylinder and creating an acoustic cavity mesh inside it through "mesh --> create", and then deleting the structure around the cavity and use EIGRL to find the modes of the purely acoustical solid structure that remains. In this method, I end up with only one element type, and one component, which is the cavity mesh. I am solving this in Optistruct. I need help with performing (2). How do I simulate the open air boundary condition at the cylinder's open end? Is there a way I can define the impedance of the 'open' elements. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am new to Hypermesh so I request you to explain a bit elaborately. Thank you so much!
  10. Respected Sir/Madam, I am Akshay Kore. I am studying Masters of Engg. in Design. I am doing project on Determining the coefficient of sound absorption of sound absorbing materials used in anechoic chember. so is it possible to do acoustic simulation in Hypermesh? Also I want to calculate the the coefficient of sound absorption and Transmission loss. For that simulation we have to place the microphone in between to calculate the pressure difference in impedance tube method. If any tutorials are available for such simulations they please shear with me. Thank You, Akshay Kore
