This error sometimes occurs on Windows Vista 64, and is related to the UAC (User Access Control) feature in Windows Vista. Even if the user has administrator privileges, some applications (acuLmd, for example) may be blocked. Go to the directory where the application executable resides, right-click on its icon, and select "Run as an administrator."
There are two methods to do this. One would be to add the parameter -lmhost server_name to the command being issued. The other would be to edit the Acusim.cnf file and change only the lmhost value to the correct license server. The license deamon process acuLmd still needs to run on the local machine.
