1. bolts Bolt with both constraints and force

Hi there, I'm wondering what's the best way to model a bolt in Hypermesh considering that it's constraining the model and also has the bolt tension force applies. If I model it the usual way, with RBE2 elements, and constrain the center node, I can't apply a force to this node because it won't do nothing (it's displacement is equal to 0, the analysis is linear with [K]{u}={F}). I've searched this topic online and didn't find anything using a bolt both to constraint and apply a force. Should I use the wsher area to apply the force and the edge nodes connected to a RBE2 and constrained in the center node? I'm modeling a wheel. I have the forces applied in a node simulating the contact patch and connected to the wheel using RBE3 elements and constraints in the bolts connecting to the hub. I'm trying to find the best way of applying the bolt tightening forces to the model. Thanks a lot, Rodrigo Monteiro

3. Pretension Bolt Analysis

Hi ! I have a structure with bolted joints. I have to simulate the strength of the bolt. First I have applied the Pretension Load. Then I have applied the working load to the structure in the next step. My objective is to verify the bolt force is not going above the yield load of the bolt. I tried this with bolt section force, but it is very much equal to the pretension force. No increase in the section force after applying the working load. Is there any other way to investigate the bolts? TIA, Subhu
4. Finding centroid of holes in meshed part - TCL script

Hi, I am looking to write a script to place pre-meshed bolts at the bolt holes of an existing bolted flange mesh, an example of which would be below: The bolt hole pattern will not always be a perfect crown, and therefore requires a more general approach Are there any pre-existing tools in Hypermesh that I can use in a tcl script to automate this process? I know hypermesh can find and fill holes, im just wondering if it can find the hole, and tell me the centroid. Or are there any other clever ways for finding the hole centroids based on logically downselecting through tcl scripts? Ultimately the crux is being able to find the centroid of the holes, I can manage the rest of the scripting. If anyone has any ideas that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Tyler
5. Pretensioned 1D Bolt

Hi, I'm modeling two fastened components in Hypermesh and I'm looking for a way to simulate pretensioned bolts. I've seen there are bolts elements in Hypermesh but i can't understand how to apply a preload. Appreciate your help and suggestions. Thank you in advance.

Sir, If I make use (I havn't) of a bolt connector, is it deformable? I mean what about its material properties?
7. Should one consider nuts & bolts of an assembly in meshing?

I'm working on a project on stress analysis of a typical truck chassis frame. I need to mesh the chassis which contains 400 components, mostly nuts, bolts & washers. Can I eliminate all the nuts, bolts & washers for simplified meshing? Will it have an effect on the result? Kindly help as I'm finding it difficult to mesh 400 components. Thank you (:
