  1. Hello, I am currently working on an optimization of the composite layup for rim shells. After running the free size optimization I receive the unsymmetric results as you can see in the picture attented. The load step is not symmetric, but because of the fact, that the shell is rotating, the plys need to be symmetric and not only locally designed. So I am wondering at the moment, how to get a global layup, with sufficient ply thickness for the global derived load step. Thank you very much in advance for your help.   2. In DSHUFFLE card, we can select three options including MAXSUCC, PAIR ,CORE/COVER(see figure attached). But, the plies of laminate structure is requested to be symmetric.How can I add this constraint in shuffle optimization ?? My firend ask me to test what will happen if "PAIR 0 90 SAME" in DSHUFFLE card is added in .fem file. But Solver FAILED, the error message is " BALANCE and PAIR constraints are only valid for 45.0 and -45.0 orientations at this point." Hope someone can help me, thanks very much!
  3. Hey guys! I made a tutorial of composite optimization which contains a ply smoothing steps. The name of the tutorial: OS-T: 3400 Design an Open Hole Tension (OHT). The model setup was the same and I got the same result for linear static analysis just like in the tutorial. The optmization went well, I got the same result as you can see on the attached picture. In the tutorial the name of the plies are different because I use the version 2017.2 . I have 2 plies which contain the same element like in the tutorial. After free-size optimization I made the next step: OSSMOTH. It gave me some funny result as you can see on the pictures. You can see the settings are the same and the results still different. On the 3rd picture you can see the OSSMOTHING result from the tutorial. You can see that the settings are the same but the results are very different. Could someone explain why I got so different result? Thanks for your answer in advance! Best regards, Imre
  4. I'm performing shuffling optimization, on the results i got from sizing optimization and was hoping to know if there is a way to control successive ply drops in shuffling optimization. We can control the total drop during sizing and then the successive same-angle plies in the stack during shuffling but we don’t see a way to prevent all the ply drops from occurring in the same location in the stack (successive ply drops), thus creating a large resin pocket, during shuffling optimization ?   5. Hello, I have a problem regarding free sizing optimization with Laminates. After free sizing optimization when optistruct creates 4 plies of each fibre orientation there remain exactly the first ply of each fibre orientation which has the shape of the whole design space. In my case the 4 plies are grouped together as the first plies of my model. I attached a picture of my problem. I tried difference settings with TMANUF, min, max Laminat thickness. But the problem is always the same. All plies based on the same elements. To introduce Loads I used RBE3 and RBE2 elements and connect them to the elements. Do you have any suggestions how to fix my problem? Thank you in advance Do you have any suggestions?
