  1. Hello, I'd like to know if there's a way to conclude/cut-off an on-going iteration before it reaches the subcase termination time? I'm running a geometric non-linear explicit dynamic subcase. I want to base this iteration cut-off criteria once the rigid wall reaction force reaches a specific value...This should speed-up my topology optimization considerably... If not then, is there a way to define a constrain on the rigidwall reaction force ? I'm referring to the reaction force that we read from the "T01" file... Thanks !!
  2. Hello, I know that Radioss is a solver which has both Implicit and Explicit solving scheme. I want to know when I solve a problem in Radioss which scheme is being used. Is there any way to select the method i.e. implicit or explicit when solving a problem? Thanks, Datta
  3. Hi, I'm trying to do a pressure analysis in a compressed gasket. I did a compression analysis of a gasket to generate a deformed gasket body using RADIOSS. Now, I need to add pressure on the selected areas of gasket in OptiStruc. I used MAT 1 with MATX 42 card for my material to run an nonlinear explicit dynamic analysis. But, I'm encountering this error message: *** ERROR # 4028 *** No load is defined in EXPDYN subcase 1. Looks like I'm not defining the load collector properly. Can anyone suggest me to resolve this error please? I'm attaching the model file to check. Thanks, Shawoon gasketdeformed.hm
  4. Dear all, I've given you the model setup in the attached image. Initially the assembly has to run at 2000 rpm along Z axis and then a torque of 800 Nm will be applied on the master pilot node of flange (the whole assembly is in rotating condition and then torque is applied on flange to compress the springs). This torque is an impact load acting in less than 50 ms. Kindly help me to setup the boundary condition. Here the guide and block should not move radially outwards. Only the spring and flange will have the radial expansion effect.
  5. Hello all ! This is my first post here, I'm a student doing my master thesis in Mechanical engineering. Here is my issue, I successfully did the tutorial in order to realize dynamic explicit analysis with the "full car" model available in Hypermesh database and also the " Example 51 - Optimization in RADIOSS for B-Pillar (Thickness optimization) " in order to understand how the ESL method works. The next step is to optimize the car crash box using he ESL method, my aim is to optimize the component called " COMP-PSHELL_1 " by Thickness optimization. I wrote the .radopt file but I encountered an issue with the .fem file. See below the error, I was not able to solve the issue. *** See next message about line 14864 from file: fullcarv5.fem "CONTACT,3,3,0,3" *** ERROR # 1000 *** in the input data: Incorrect data in field # 4.   6. In explosive analysis, I was able to see Burn Fraction time history plot by using variable 'BFRAC' under Output Block. How to see animation contours of such variables? What options should I change in the engine file to achieve this?

  8. I have a simple 2-D square geometry with the length of 5 x 2 m. I need to assign a point load on the model to simulate wave propagation in the solid medium with Abaqus. the distance from the firing point and the reading point is 25 cm. I have used Gaussian wave with the frequency of 50kHz. The material property that I used is concrete and I have used Abaqus material, solid section, CPE4R element type, and dynamic explicit analysis. However, as you can see in the picture when I use point load (i.e C-load), there is a huge high-frequency noise, which should not be there! while the noise magnitude drastically decreases when same equivalent pressure (i.e. D-load) is used. I have to mention that, the noise decreases with wider D-Load. Even, when I use D-Load on just one element, which is very close to a point-load, the noise magnitude is significantly small. except for the noise, the rest of analysis is correct (P-wave, S-wave, and reflections are all on expected time and seems to be correct). Does anyone have any idea that what the problem is coming from? Thank you.
  9. Hey! I am trying to perform a structural and transient analysis on a Roller Element Bearing model. I am able to perform simple static analysis but I would like to utilize Hyperworks to simulate the following conditions: Inner race to be rotating with a constant velocity and a fixed radial load is applied. Outer race is fixed. The balls should also be rotating. I wish to know how I can give a constant velocity to the inner race of the bearing while also allowing the balls to rotate. What kind of contact constraint should I apply. Right now I am working with freeze contact only. There is one video but in a different solver which does what I have been trying to do. I wish to do it in Hyperworks. Here is the link: Also please suggest whether optistruct's non linear can be used or whether I should switch over to a different solver module! Cheers
  10. Sir, What if I do all preprocessing for a forming setup in any one of the HyperForm userprofiles and I want to export it to Abaqus Explicit Solver deck? Can I do that? I tried, however I found everything (material, loads, etc.) empty except for the parts (meshed instances) in Abaqus CAE- View Model GUI.

  12. Hello Everyone, I have a load curve for few miliseconds in terms of acceleration. I have to find the shock being transmitted through the body in terms acceleration. So is it correct to use transient analysis in Optistruct? or should I go with explicit using Radioss? Regards, Bharat

  14. Thank you George for the reply. So for any analysis until we use the control card for Implicit, will it always run an explicit analysis?? Also I have one more question, what is the error and mass error here ?
