  1. Hello, For my thesis I would like to use the model from inspire in another software, therefore I would like to know if there's a possibility to export the gradient FEA output as texture for my 3D model. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks in advance
  2. Hello @Rahul Ponginan, I am new to hypermesh. When i was studying theoretically about Finite element analysis, i got to know that the calculations will be made at limited number of nodes and then the result will be interpolated to the entire domain. Can you please tell me that what is "interpolate" in FEA/FEM? I already searched in google and got some theories, but those were unable to understand. Awaiting for your reply. Thanks in an advance.   3. Hello everyone!I'm performing a finite element analysis with a pair of gears and another component around this pair of gears. This system is named as "planetary gears". My model is simplified, just to see how will be the behavior of the system, I'm using the software Hypermesh with the solver OptiStruct. My question is, which degrees of freedom on "FACE 1" and "FACE 2" should I constraint to rotate "GEAR A" and "GEAR B" around the axis X.Degres of freedom:Displacement: x, y and zRotation: x, y and zI have attached the picture.   4. Hi all, I'd like to use Matlab to control OptiStruct -- change design variables and run the analysis. My intent is to use numerical methods scripts I've written in Matlab and loop back and forth between Matlab and OptiStruct. The process would run as follows: 1. Matlab -- numerical methods algorithm takes in FEA results, outputs design variables 2. Optistruct -- takes in design variables, runs FEA and outputs results (.out file) 3. Repeat Can anyone help me run OptiStruct from Matlab? More generally, does anyone have experience running OptiStruct externally? Thank you in advance for any help! Best, Alex
  5. HUByx is a finite element human body model developed by CEDREM. It features many internal organs as well as a representation of the internal fluid. This enables a pressure propagation inside the body due to an impact or a blast. The model has been validated for two kinds of loadings. The first one is medium speed impacts. The numerical force vs deflection curves at different locations were compared to the experimental ones. The second one is blast loading. An experimental setup with torso surrogates was reproduced. The numerical pressure vs time curves in different organs were compared to experimental ones. A presentation video is available. For now, only the torso is available in the Academic Partner Alliance.   7. Hello, I am trying to analyse and optimize the chassis of a composite car. The body will be made out of woven carbon fiber and aluminium honeycomb but at the same time, to add stiffness, there will be spars and a dashboard made out of PVC foam, layered with carbon fiber to add to the structural strength and torsional stiffness of the vehicle. Here is a picture As you can see, the blackish/gray is the dashboard, the green are the spars and the red is the body. So what I did was I imported all 3 files together. Since I've made these parts in relative to each other, they fit perfectly without having to "mate" anything in Optistruct as you would do in Solidworks. The problem arises when I try to upload the body AND the spars/dashboard together. The body was originally a full solid used to run CFD. Later, it was shelled in solidworks so it was hollow but still had a thickness. This would be a problem is I were to try to layer carbon fiber on it. So what I did was that I uploaded it to design modeler, thinned all the surfaces and I achieved a pure surface body, which was perfect for layering carbon fiber. However, it seems that when I try to upload the surface body together with a solid body, the surface body disappears. Everything is fine when I upload the surface body. Now when I try to upload the dashboard, the surface body disappears and only the solid body remains. Does anyone have any ideas how to get around this?
  8. Hello, I'm using HyperMesh and Abacus 3D Contact Solver in my project. This is a FEA Contact Simulations of two mating terminals, as shown below. Basically, terminal 1 will insert and withdraw during the mating process and terminal 2 was fixed at the right surfaces. I would like to plot the contact force between the two terminals during the insert/withdraw process. However, it is not available in HyperView. Can anyone help?
  9. Hi, I am trying to run an FEA on a truss section. The setup is that it is supported on both sides, with a 937.5 psi load distributed over a 4" by 4" square. After I went through the setup following a tutorial, I tried running it and it gave me the following error. As of now I put a dconstrain on the magdisp, but I'm not sure if that was right. I'd appreciate any help. I have attached the file below. Messages for the job: *** ERROR # 1908 *** Case Control data LOAD=2 is not referenced by any bulk data relevant for used subcase type. *** Run terminated because of error(s) in the input data.   10. Hi, I am currently modelling a truss structure made up of carbon fiber composite tubes with the thickness of 1mm. I have created 1D CBAR elements as the input properties. Now the problem is with the creation of material properties. Any one have modeled previously composite tubes? Any inputs or suggestions would be helpful for me.. Thank you.
  11. I had performed simulation of Incremental sheet forming process in Hyperworks 12.0. In this analysis I compared the two material law (Law52 and Law2) keeping all conditions same. The Gurson (Law52) based model takes 26.3 hrs for simulation while J-C (Law2) based model takes 17.23 hrs for the same analysis. Why Gurson model takes more time for analysis?
  12. I have been working on Craig-Bampton method for normal mode analysis in which I aim to get a faster computational time result for 16 modes. Until now I unable to do so. I tried to use all the information obtained from the internet, but I failed miserably since I have no idea how to do it. I'm working with superelement . Just a simple structure. One superelement and one residual. With this, I attached my explanation of the structure I'm working with.
  13. Hello! I am currently working on the analysis of a two piece wheel hub for a wheel hub drive. The model contains apart from the mesh a few contacts (some of them with a negative clearance for bolt pretension) and springs to modell the stiffness of the wheel bearings. My problem is that the analysis does converge pretty well but there are no results attached. I already tried to define several ouputs with different options but I never got results. If I just change the load step to "linear static" and run the analysis there are results. Did someone have the same problem already or does someone have an idea what could be my fault? I am working with HW 13 and Optistruct. Many thanks in advance! Regards, Max
  14. Hello, I have a double supported beam that I have divided into a non-design and design space. After running an optimization and generating the structure with ossremesh I did an FEA reanalysis on the model. When checking the stress contours I noticed that their were discontinuities between the design and non-design space. Running edge and face equivalence showed that there were no unconnected nodes. Both the design space and non-design space have the same material, but located in different properties. What could be the problem? Thank you, -Eric
  15. Hello, I'm trying to run a 3 point bend test. The supports doesn't matter, if possible i would like to make it rigid, but to avoid stress concentration in a point i need to model this contact between the support and the I beam. How can i do this, or find some tutorial more focused ? Thanks !
