  1. I'm having a problem with the parameter sweep macro in Cadfeko/Postfeko. The model creation and solver portion of the macro generates the cfx files and runs the models ok, no problem there. I have an issue when the "combine results" macro is run in Postfeko; either when it's run "automatically" on completion of the Feko solver or if I run "combine_parameter_sweep_results" in the script editor. In some cases, the results files are combined properly in Postfeko and everything is fine, but in about half the sweeps that I've tried to run, the macro fails with: ------ Running combine_parameter_sweep_results ------ Found 1 NearFields(s) Found 1 Power(s) .\shared_helper.lua:116: Error 18111: The number of values on the axis must be the same as the number of data sets provided. shared_helper.lua line 116 is just: 115 function error( message ) 116 error_( CleanMessage( message ) ) 117 end I've tried to debug, but I can't find the error code listed anywhere, and generally can't figure out what's going wrong or what's different between the sweeps that work and those that don't. I've had this failure on sweeps of different variables--geometry-related and medium-parameter-related. Really need to get this fixed, so I can continue with this work. Of course happy to provide more information and upload more files, but I've started here by attaching the .cfx files as well as the .xml generated by the macro for a sweep of the conductivity value for scattering from an infinite dielectric cylinder. Any help will be greatly appreciated! inf_cyl_pbc_variable_cond_03.cfx inf_cyl_pbc_variable_cond_04.cfx inf_cyl_pbc_variable_cond_original.cfx inf_cyl_pbc_variable_cond.xml inf_cyl_pbc_variable_cond_01.cfx inf_cyl_pbc_variable_cond_02.cfx
  2. Hi Guys, I need to do some micro-Doppler simulations simulations in Feko (of a bird). Unfortunately I can not find a user guide or How to do guide of micro-Doppler simulations. However in literature, some have done so (attached image). How can I perform micro-Doppler simulations in Feko?
  3. Hi, I put the coating (3 mm) on a cube with working at the frequncey 18 GHz, and then Feko reminded me a error and warning. Error 17063: Cube.Face15 - Coating LayeredDielectric1 on Cube.Face15 must be geometrically and electrically thin unless solved using physical optics (PO). Warning 17064: Cube.Face13 - Coating LayeredDielectric1 on Cube.Face13 is not geometrically thin. Thus, how to solve the problem and can Feko solve the coating problems? Thanks.
  4. Hi guys, I want to learn to simulate the RCS for different polarisations, VV, HH, VH, HV. I understand the example stated out in the example guide - however, it does not explicitly state how to go about for the four polarisations. How do we go about simulating the RCS for the four polarisations? Nyasha
  5. I have a simple doubt. I have a 2D polygon (XY plane) on my model and the incident plane wave and electric field is also on the same plane (XY plane) and the magnetic field is perpendicular to the plane XY (on z). Theoretically the monostatic RCS should be the same for a PEC and for a Free space medium inside the polygon as the wave can't penetrate inside. And, unfortunately I can't change the properties of the edges. Edges remains edges. I can't put any material for edges in the model. And, I get different results for a PEC and for a Free Space medium inside the polygon. Why? I have made a comparison on PEC and free space. Please help. 2Blades_comparison_4_GHz.eps
  6. When I run my model with the default solver (I guess it is MOM), I get an error which says "ERROR 33238: Not enough memory available on the hard disk for an out-of-core file" though I already have 8 GB of RAM and more than 200 GB of free HDD space. However, when I switch to FDTD solver, it doesn't show up the error, but it takes a really really long time. I have attached the model to this post. Please help me what to do with this error as I haven't found any good solutions yet. 08262019_Feko_two_blades.fek
  7. I want to import a stp file in Feko but I can see all options in grey at import > Geometry. How can I fix this? I have tried all possible formats for importing it but in all of them I have mesh related issues. Please help!
  8. Hello, I'm performing a convergence study on the attached model. The idea is to run multiple simulations for the same model using different mesh sizes, and then determine the appropriate mesh size for this model to guarantee accurate S-parameter results. The simulations were performed using custom meshing for 3.5 mm, 2.5 mm, 1.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 0.5 mm in all of these trials the S-parameter plots were different. Thank you. H_pln1.cfx
  9. Dear All, I have an issue concerning the use of “Double NeGative” (DNG) metamaterials. The issue regards either the electromagnetic scattering of plane waves from DNG metamaterial cylinders or the evaluation of the reflection coefficient for waveguides partially filled with metamaterials. I firstly considered an indefinite (along the z axis), homogeneous cylinder having radius = 4lambda in the case of normally incident plane wave with TM polarization at f = 300MHz (see Fig. 1 in attached files). The cylinder is filled up with a DNG metamaterial having eps_r= -2.2, while mu_r<0 changes from case to case. An indefinite cylinder has been obtained with periodic boundary conditions. The result from FEKO is compared with a cylindrical wave expansion (see “Normal Incidence Plane Wave Scattering by Conducting Circular Cylinder: TMzPolarization” – Advanced Engineering Electromagnetic, Constantine A. Balanis). FEKO and the cylindrical wave expansion agree for mu_r =-1 (see Fig. 2) and for mu_r = -1.2 (see Fig. 3), while they disagree for mu_r= -1.3 and mu_r = -1.5 (see Fig. 4 and Fig. 5). Please, find attached the related .cfx file and relative figures. In the second case, I considered an X-band rectangular waveguide structure (see Fig.6) partially filled with a DNG metamaterial, now with epr_r = -2 and mu_r<0 changing from case to case, and terminated with a short circuit. The result from FEKO has been compared with waveguide theory. While for mu_r from -1 to -1.2 the reflection coefficient is ok, for mu_r = -1.5 (or in general lower than mu_r=-1.3) the phases of the numerical and analytical reflection coefficients differ: the numerical phase is -79.7° while the analytical one is -105.1°. Again, the .cfx file is attached. Thank you very much for any help. 10. Is there any option in feko to import far field radiation pattern E theta and E phi? Please help
  11. In the help file it says that "The user can either select a predefined air interface file (*.wst) which is available from AWE Communications for most of the common wireless technologies ", but I cannot find nor download the wst files to use with ProMan
  12. Hello guys, I found some commands on FEKO User Guide to run PREFEKO, make mesh ans run FEKO solver. The commands are (cadfeko_batch; runfeko) and I can run them from DOS (prompt command window on Windows). These commands are interesting because I do not have to open FEKO GUI (Graphical user interface) to make mesh and run the solver, and I can call them from MATLAB. But I am having problems to export from the simulation only Data I want without open POSTFEKO GUI, for example : Transmission and Reflection coefficients and range of frequencies. Does someone have a clue? If I open POSTFEKO and load the simulated file I can export the information as (*.tr) extension, a file with what I want, but I cannot find any information on how to call this kind of "exporting flag" on command line... I do not want to open GUI at all. The image below has one option [--data-export-format n], but on the function description do not have any information about extension (*.tr) Does anyone have an example of a FEKO problem when FEKO did not have GUI? Or some examples of all DOS commands to manipulate FEKO? Thank you in advance. Best Regards, Nikolas Nascimento Aguilar
  13. Hi, I have plotted data in POSTFEKO with API scripting, but I do not know how I can export each graph as a .dat file. Can someone help me with that? And is there a macro recording option for POSTFEKO, because I could not find it. Thanks in advance! With kind regards, Meerten Lua_example_post.lua
  14. Hi, I am a new user of FEKO. At present, I am doing two-port impedance matching network designs for a power amplifier in ADS based on lumped elements. The input signal frequency can vary from 20 MHz to 200 MHz. Is it possible to do lumped element based impedance matching network in FEKO where one of the ports has complex impedance? Thanks in advance. Regards A N M Wasekul Azad University of Missouri-Kansas City
  15. Hi guys, I have an arbitrary target and I need to visualise the RCS intensity - as shown in the attached image - (From EMSSFEKO YouTube channel). I tried looking for steps from the Feko help document but I couldnt find the RCS visualisation steps. What are the detailed steps involved from importing the CAD model to visualising its RCS signature? Regards, Farai

  17. hi everyones I try to simulate an antenna but I confront an error: error33238:Not enough memory available on the hard disk for an out-of-core file. in addition it has a warning by contents: warning 1663:Inhomogeneous segmentation for triangles. I use edge port to excite a quadridged horn antenna with coaxial cable. thanks in advanced.
  18. Hello, Could anyone please answer whether there is an option in FEKO for performing batch simulations. In case if such an option is available in FEKO, can anyone guide me.
  19. Could someone specify the format for the external ASCII file when loading radiation pattern data into the AR Card in EDITFEKO? I am aware of the documentation but would appreciate a clearer example of the format. Thankyou
  20. Hi, I am trying to export Y-parameters of an array which includes 16 elements, hence, 16 ports. I want to create a .y16p file but every time I try to export POSTFEKO crashes and is not responding. I know it is a lot of data to export, but is there any other way to get Zparameter data? Thanks in advance!
  21. Hi friends ! I want to do Log Periodic Dipole Array Antenna Example but i get the error in sigmaN function veriable when entering veriables. tau:0.93 (entered) sigma0: 0.7 (entered) sigma1...sigma11: sigmaN=sigma(N-1)/tau ( ı did not do this function) how ı enter this veriable ? Thanks in advance !
  22. I have noticed that FEKO (SE) shows surface currents at the boundary between different epsilon_r regions. Could someone explain this effect please? description in detail: A dielectric plate is placed inside a conductive cavity resonator. There are two seperate regions inside with different dielectric constant (eps_r=eps_0 & eps_r=2.2). At the resonant frequency of a low order mode the surface current is displayed using postfeko. They are shown at the conductive walls, which is quite clear, but also at the dielectric boundary shell. Why is there a surface current present at this kind of boundery, a dielectric boundery? Is this some kind of: 1. displacement currens 2. manifestations of the ExH field on the surface at that position and because of the surface mesh at the boundery 3. based on the implementation of the BEM, MoM / boundery conditions 4. somewhat else Thanks
  23. Hi, I am new in Feko, can anyone here provide me a tutorial how to design an array microstrip antenna? because i couldnt find any tutorial on designing array microstrip antenna. Thank you for anyone that provide me tutorials.
  24. Hello, I would need some clarification to enable me understand what I am doing on FEKO. I am relatively new to using FEKO but I am having a hard time understanding some terminology. 1. What is the difference between MoM matrix and MoM impedance matrix. If there is a difference, how to I obtain the MoM impedance matrix on FEKO else I guess they are both the same. 2. What is the major difference between the surface current, current density vector and eigen-current. How do I obtain the eigen current on FEKO 3. The MoM matrix does not tend to match in terms of dimension with the current density vector on FEKO, how can I reconcile this
  25. Hi, Hope everybody are good. Please find attached full question with diagrams. A coax-fed patch antenna with dimensions given in table below, is simulated in HFSS, CST and FEKO softwares. It is seen that: The results of the CST software in the case of - The phase Z component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis and The results of the FEKO software in the case of - The magnitude of X component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis - The phase of X component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis - The phase of Z component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis - The phase of Z component of the electric field on the line parallel to x axis and The results of the HFSS software in the case of - The phase of X component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis - The phase of Z component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis are completely different from the results of the two other softwares (despite partial similarity of the field behavior in other cases). The question is why it is such different. Question.pdf
