  1. Hello. I want to investigate the effects of putting two types of patch antennas on top of each other. I have followed the example guide on how to make a patch antenna using the planar Multilayer infinite substrate. If I were to want to put a second substrate and antenna on top of the example, is there anything I need to watch out for in order to ensure accurate results? Is it as simple as adding another substrate layer using the Planar Multilayer Substrate and drawing another patch on top?
  2. Hi, I have 16 sets of configuration in CADFEKO that generate near and far field in each set of configuration. Can I know how to generate a continuous result for near and far field in POSTFEKO? The result that I want is not in the form of Out file display but in the form of Cartesian graph. It is because results that are able to be plotted in the Cartesian graph can exported to clipboard as well. If there is a need to use parameter sweep in this case, can anyone help me on how to link parameter sweep with the multiple near and far field? The snapshot of the activity done in the CADFEKO and POSTFEKO will be attached as well. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.   4. Hi, I am a new user of FEKO. At present, I am doing two-port impedance matching network designs for a power amplifier in ADS based on lumped elements. The input signal frequency can vary from 20 MHz to 200 MHz. Is it possible to do lumped element based impedance matching network in FEKO where one of the ports has complex impedance? I tried looking for steps from the Feko help document but I couldnt find the RCS visualisation steps.   7. hi everyones I try to simulate an antenna but I confront an error: error33238:Not enough memory available on the hard disk for an out-of-core file. in addition it has a warning by contents: warning 1663:Inhomogeneous segmentation for triangles. I use edge port to excite a quadridged horn antenna with coaxial cable. thanks in advanced.

  10. Hi, I am trying to export Y-parameters of an array which includes 16 elements, hence, 16 ports. I want to create a .y16p file but every time I try to export POSTFEKO crashes and is not responding. I know it is a lot of data to export, but is there any other way to get Zparameter data?   12. I have noticed that FEKO (SE) shows surface currents at the boundary between different epsilon_r regions. Could someone explain this effect please? description in detail: A dielectric plate is placed inside a conductive cavity resonator. There are two seperate regions inside with different dielectric constant (eps_r=eps_0 & eps_r=2.2). At the resonant frequency of a low order mode the surface current is displayed using postfeko. They are shown at the conductive walls, which is quite clear, but also at the dielectric boundary shell. Why is there a surface current present at this kind of boundery, a dielectric boundery? Is this some kind of: 1. displacement currens 2. manifestations of the ExH field on the surface at that position and because of the surface mesh at the boundery 3. based on the implementation of the BEM, MoM / boundery conditions 4. somewhat else Thanks

  14. Hello, I would need some clarification to enable me understand what I am doing on FEKO. I am relatively new to using FEKO but I am having a hard time understanding some terminology. 1. What is the difference between MoM matrix and MoM impedance matrix. If there is a difference, how to I obtain the MoM impedance matrix on FEKO else I guess they are both the same. 2. What is the major difference between the surface current, current density vector and eigen-current. How do I obtain the eigen current on FEKO 3. The MoM matrix does not tend to match in terms of dimension with the current density vector on FEKO, how can I reconcile this

Hello guys, I studding the deformation of a structure (plane) in HyperMesh (with the Optistruct tool ), so after having the deformation in HyperView I want to export is to Feko to do an electromagnetic simulation. How can I do the exportation from HyperView to Feko? And witch extension type of file I have to export from HyperView to Feko to have a geometry in Feko and not a mesh.   16. Greetings, I'm having a little trouble with simulating jobs remotely, specifically using the front-end on Windows pre-process and then remote solving on a Linux machine. I have setup ssh with passwordless login and confirmed that it works between my two machines. Next, I try launching from the gui with the appropriate Component launch options set on the FEKO Solver tab, but no joy.   17. Hi, I have a 4by4 symmetrical phased array, but something strange is happening with my S-parameters. Because my array is symmetrical, the following should approximately be the same: S11=S1616, S21 = S1516 etc. However, when I look in my .s16p file, S1516 is -180 degrees shifted in phase with respect to S21. Hi Good day, I would like to start with creating two different magnetic based coils as Transmitting coil (TC) and Receiving coil (RC), to measure the Z impedance values changes with respect to the movement of TC around RC. Following are the configuration which I would like to proceed, Transmitting Coil: L 67 uH Q 22 Ccalc 24.19 nf - - F 125khz Receiving Coil: Coil Configuration L 728.73 uH Q 53.24 R 15kohm Ccalc 2.224nf F 125khz - - The Receiving Coil (RC) resonated at a frequency of 125kHz and diameter of 7cm. Transmitting coil (TC) dimension is 9 x 9 x 9 mm^3. Datasheet of RC as: https://www.rfsolutions.co.uk/downloads/1457021091DS-ANT-125K.pdf Initially, the RC and TC will be 3cm away from each other on z axis. The Impedance( |Z| ) value can be measured with respect to the movement of TC on x-axis/y-axis. -> The RC: loop antenna actual dimension, the copper wire diameter, number of turn, the diameter. (the details of the coil determine the inductance value) For RC: 0.236mm diameter (34 swg) Enamelled Cu wire.   20. Hi there, In FEKO for the CMA, the eigenvalues of the individual modes can be obtained in the output file, but unfortunately I cannot find the eigencurrents (Jn), where [X][Jn]=lambda[R][Jn]. When the current is requested under CMA configuration, only those currents on the triangular elements can be obtained. So, I would need some help in how to obtain the eigencurrents. Thanks

When I run my model with the default solver (I guess it is MOM), I get an error which says "ERROR 33238: Not enough memory available on the hard disk for an out-of-core file" though I already have 8 GB of RAM and more than 200 GB of free HDD space. However, when I switch to FDTD solver, it doesn't show up the error, but it takes a really really long time. I have attached the model to this post.   22. Hi, Hope everybody are good. Please find attached full question with diagrams. A coax-fed patch antenna with dimensions given in table below, is simulated in HFSS, CST and FEKO softwares. It is seen that: The results of the CST software in the case of - The phase Z component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis and The results of the FEKO software in the case of - The magnitude of X component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis - The phase of X component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis - The phase of Z component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis - The phase of Z component of the electric field on the line parallel to x axis and The results of the HFSS software in the case of - The phase of X component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis - The phase of Z component of the electric field on the line parallel to y axis are completely different from the results of the two other softwares (despite partial similarity of the field behavior in other cases).   23. Hello guys, I found some commands on FEKO User Guide to run PREFEKO, make mesh ans run FEKO solver. The commands are (cadfeko_batch; runfeko) and I can run them from DOS (prompt command window on Windows). These commands are interesting because I do not have to open FEKO GUI (Graphical user interface) to make mesh and run the solver, and I can call them from MATLAB. But I am having problems to export from the simulation only Data I want without open POSTFEKO GUI, for example : Transmission and Reflection coefficients and range of frequencies. Does someone have a clue? If I open POSTFEKO and load the simulated file I can export the information as (*.tr) extension, a file with what I want, but I cannot find any information on how to call this kind of "exporting flag" on command line... I do not want to open GUI at all. The image below has one option [--data-export-format n], but on the function description do not have any information about extension (*.tr) Does anyone have an example of a FEKO problem when FEKO did not have GUI?   25. Hi, I need help regarding modeling a winding in FEKO. I would like to model a winding with 136 turns. To be clear I have attached a wire model. I would like to have a winding with 16 horizontal layers of same shape as shown in the figure and 8 vertical layers. I also attached a sample of 3D model with 16 horizontal layers which should look like. I was using a polyline to draw layer by layer, but it is taking a lot of time to model it. Could anyone suggest me some other alternative ways or easy process to do this. Or could anyone write a lua script to altleast generate a single layer of wire (fig:wire:2) an dthen remaining I hope I can do it. Thanks
