  1. Hi all, I am simulating kind of single-phase transformer with Grain Oriented materials. I am modeling the iron core with a 'magnetic non conducting region'. Magnetization curves along rolling and transverse direction are characterized up to saturation and their measurements data are smooth enough. They are modeled through an 'anisotropic spline saturation' tool removing the knee in the Rayleigh zone, as suggested in the User Guide. Performing a transient analysis, the solver is not able to converge during Newton-Raphson computations for medium-high field strength values. On the other hand, when simulating very low and extremely high field strengths, the solver converges with no particular issues. Can you please help me to figure it out? Thank you in advance, MB
  2. Hi all, let's suppose I want to simulate a two-poles electrical machine with Flux 2D and calculate iron losses on faces. To reduce the domain size I would simulate one-half of the machine setting an even periodic condition (periodicity). Does Flux output losses for only one-half of the machine or for the whole model, automatically taking into account the periodicity? Thank you in advance. Best regards, Marco Biasion

  4. Hi all, I am working on Synchronous Machines design performing 2D FEM analysis with Flux 2018. I have obtained the post-processing results concerning magnetic flux density distribution in the domain, iron loss figure computed by means of Bertotti formulation and so on. Now I need to access iron losses and magnetic flux density data for each element of the finite-element mesh. This is needed for further investigations, e.g., compute how many mesh elements have a certain magnitude of magnetic flux density. Is it possible? How can I do it? I know that "Computation on points" analysis is available, but it is not useful in this particular case. BR, Marco Biasion

  7. While assigning rotor kinematics there is shown velocity as parameter but the units described are in rpm. so i used my speed in the velocity column but the angular speed i am getting is totally different. please help me in this. thank you
  8. hello there, i am a beginner in fea. i am using the flux student edition for my masters project. the query i have is we do back emf estimation as a different simulation and do other analysis using current sources. i am using sinusoidal voltage sources to see the response of my pmsm motor. but i dont see any oposition to the applied voltage (the current passing through the phases is only voltage applied divided by equivalent impedance). to this i am getting nearly 200 times my rated current. i am doing the simulation in transient magnetic analysis. what should i do. should i do other kind of analysis or provide a back emf look up table externally. please provide any suggestion. thank you.
  9. hello, i am using a student edition of flux for my M.Tech project. I need to co-simulate a PMSM motor with Field Oriented Control. what should i assign for the rotor kinematics for this condition. currently i am making it at imposed load and giving the parameters required by my project. but what i designed was for 5 amps rated, but in matlab it's going to 2000 amps. previously i used the simulink block for the PMSM, it worked fine. please help me with it. i am uploading the results i got in Simulink after co-simulation. currents.pdf speed.pdf torque.pdf
  10. Hi, Is there a way to export the custom defined colors from one Flux2D file to another. This would save time by not requiring to re-do it again in a new project.
  11. In one of the semminar viedo it has been mentioned that the geometry can be exported from Flux2D and imported to FluxMotor Part Library.   12. Hi, I am VERY new to Altair Flux, and I am using a student license, and as such I have been looking everywhere for some... tutorials. I am interested in simulating and measuring torque, and flux, for switched reluctance motor (SRM). However, I am having trouble with the most basic thing for a motor: how do I simulate the phase/coils and their currents? I am trying to do a 2D simulation. From this cogging torque tutorial from the official channel, I can't see at any point the author assigning current values, only modifying the physical dimensions of the BLDC. But I really need to simulate the current to create torque for an SRM. Basically, I wanted to imitate the youtube video, but where is the part where I assign current values? i am sorry if this question is basic, but I am just having trouble finding good tutorials (or documentation) for my specific problem. Thanks!
  13. Hello, Is there any command that clears the output window in FLUX? I want to simulate a parameter sweep with lots of different values for some geometric parameters. I have a script that sets the values of the parameters at each step, then meshes the geometry, simulates the configuration, exports and deletes the results, deletes the mesh, and repeats the process with new values. After several configurations are simulated, the application just crashes completely, and it closes the project without any error message. I have to mention that I am not using any command for closing the project in my script, so it should not happen. As I am not storing the results of the simulation in the RAM memory of my computer, I think that the problem comes when the output window in FLUX displays too many rows. Is there any command to clear the output window? Thanks in advance, Imanol
