  3. How do I plot an amplitude vs. frequency graph with the results generated in Inspire Motion from a sine-sweep actuator? I can export the displacement results vs time but I'm not sure if performing an FFT on it will give me what I want?
  4. Hi Prakash, I am running a Direct FRF analysis in Optistruct. I have asked out on only 2 frequencies. I am attaching my .out and .stat file here and error message also.   6. Hi, I'm trying to run a fatigue analysis using acceleration as load, but I don't know how to set the FATLOAD card with an acceleration load. My objective is to simulate a shacker test and verify the life and damage that the part will get when vibrates in 1G acceleration. Modal and frequency response analysis are ok, my only problem is with the fatigue analysis. If anyone knows how to proceed, please let me know. Thanks!
  7. Hello, I'm using hyperemsh to carry out a dynamic analysis with LS Dyna implicit solver. I'm using Hypermesh 14. I'm trying to do a frequency analysis but I can't find the keyword FREQUENCY_DOMAIN in the solver browser. The version in the LS Dyna user profile is the 8 so there should be the option for frequency domain analysis. Any ideas? Thanks, Stefano
  8. Hi , I am working on modal analysis of rotor system in optistruct. I have queries regarding constraints. Pls find the following image which shows rotor assembly with bearing. I need to allow rotation free of rotor and shaft at bearing locations. How to give constraints at bearing locations ? Using RBE2 or any other options are there in Optistruct? Thanks Arul

  11. Hi Guys.... Is there any method or thumb rule to calculate the calculation time of a direct frf solution. I have a small system with 64GB RAM but large number of nodes to calculate, can anyone suggest any thumb rule over number of nodes to calculate, number of frequencies to output and system specifications. Also, is there any thumb rule that the performance of an frf is maximum with 4 cores?? I read it somewhere.... Thanks in advance

  13. Hi, I am performing FRF analysis of an overhang part mounted on engine. From testing, I requested following vibration data at mounting and at tip- 1) G vs RPM (sweep up) - from this I got to know at which RPM, G value is maximum due to resonance. 2)FFT data (G vs Freq) at that single RPM where G was maximum while sweep up. Now, my query is ...from FFt data, my maximum G value at particular frequency is less than 1G . But from sweep up data (G vs RPM), if I check G value at that RPM , then it is more than 3G. So, Now For FRF analysis in CAE, which G value I should take for excitation input (from FFT or from sweep up). How to correlate max. displacement and acceleration plotted at tip in CAE with testing.   16. In optimization for FRF, it's very useful to run modal analysis once before getting FRF results in multiple load conditions (e.g different Fx Fy Fz on same structure ). Hope you can let me know how to set this option.Thanks!

    Hi All, Please Help with the answers for frequency response analysis of impeller assembly. In the image you can see that impeller is directly coupled to the motor. Motor is fixed to the sheet metal structure in green. The edges of sheet metal bolted to main frame. 1. My doubt is how to do the FRF for rotating structures ? 2. Generally we apply unit force as excitation for a range of frequency in case of structures, what about rotating structures ? 3. How to specify the excitation for rotating structure? 4. Is it possible to give rotary excitation ? 5. what should be my excitation location and response location ?
  18. I am trying to simulate the influence of an unbalanced tyre on the structure using an FRF. Because it is rotating in the XZ-plane I have made two inputs, one excitation in X and one in Z. I combine these inputs in a DLOAD through 2 RLOAD load collectors. The thing I am struggling with is implying a 90 degree phase delay for one of the 2 RLOAD collectors. I have expirimented with the delay option and dphase option but I have not obtained the result I wanted. How do I apply this delay in my model? Is there a tutorial for this?
  19. Hello, I am using Optistruct to numerically calculate some FRFs. I have test data to validate my numerical results. Measured test data is an FRF data in the form of Inertance (acceleration/force). I see that there is a big gap in frequency components' amplitudes between the measured data and numerically calculated data, though calculated and measured natural frequencies align very well. I have followed the modal frequency response tutorial and nowhere in the tutorial is it shown that we're specifically selecting the type of FRF we're wanting (e.g. inertance or mobility or receptance). GLOBAL_OUTPUT_REQUEST is used with DISPLACEMENT enabled and that makes me think that, what I am calculating in Optistruct is Receptance and not Inertance. I tried to request ACCELERATION instead of DISPLACEMENT, but ACCELERATION doesn't let me select the output node set which I used for DISPLACEMENT. How can I make sure in Optistruct that the numerical data I'm getting is inertance and not mobility (velocity/force) or receptance (displacement/force)? Best regards
