  1. Hello! I'm approaching PyFlux to build a geometry for simulating a magnetic bearing. I've already built the geometry through the Flux user interface. Does Flux return a PyFlux code linked to what I've done through the user interface? Thank you very much!
  2. Hi! I am not sure why but when I try to import my geometry from solidworks to optistruct it only shows as a single component geometry while in Ansys it shows as different parts. I want to know how can I have multiple components in optistruct? I am performing size optimization so I need to assign different properties and thickness to different parts of the model.   3. Hello, I am a beginner with HyperMesh and would like to know if there is a way for a user to input a table of node coordinates into HyperMesh instead of having to manually input each coordinate. Manually inputting each X, Y, and Z coordinate is time-consuming, so a shortcut would be great. Here is an example of what the node table looks like.   4. Hello, I would like to know how can I export a model from FluxMotor to Flux Skew. I saw it in the "03-Flux12.2_FluxMotor_NewFeatures-Altair-PL-SG-FM" file and I want to know if it is now available. I download the FluxMotor 2019.1 version and the icon not appear.   5. Hello, I am doing the "SPM_Motor_Flux_3D.pdf" tutorial, and in page 15 there is a file named "Create_NonMesh_Coils_SPM.py" that I have to Run. I can not find it in my PC. Could you please tell me the exact directory where I can get it?, or much better, if you could send it to me I would appreciate it. (and let me know if I need another file to finish the tutorial) Thank you in advance.

Hello, I am doing the IPM_Motor_Flux_3D.pdf tutorial from Flux 2019.1, and when I reach page 12 of the "3D Overlay to create the geometry" (after I enter all the values to Create Non Meshed Coil and press OK) I got the following error message: Error message: Failed convert object : class cast error. Desktop updating step failed. I can not skip it because the winding parameters are very important to the study that I am doing. Hope you can help me with this. Thank you in advance Best regards.

Hello, I am trying to export a Flux geometry (of a rotor or a stator) to FluxMotor by following the "CreateFluxMotorInnerMagnet.pdf" file step by step, but placing parameters and references to the dimensions. When I get the Excel file (in FluxMotor Part Library), none of the parameters are shown referenced, simply the points are placed with coordinates in numbers. Basically, what I am looking for is to design a geometry in Flux and to be able to export it to FluxMotor, and being able to modify its dimensions like the ones that have predefined Fluxmotor. (e.g: be able to modify dimentions of W1, H, WM, TM, etc in FluxMotor with my geomettry exported from Flux) Thank you very much in advance
  8. Hello everyone, I think this is a basic question, but I am unable to get it working. I am using Hyperworks 14. I have a block of solid hexagonal mesh and I am trying to add new components by selecting a subset of the elements. I am trying to work with the 'organize' panel option, but I had no success so far. To test it, I created a huge cube filled with hexahedral elements and a small rectangular surface within the cube. I was able to associate few of the nodes by doing 'Geometry ----- node edit ----- associate' and selecting the rectangular surface and small tolerance level. It shows that I have some of the nodes associated to the surface component. Now to select a subset of elements within the cube, I did 'tool ---- organize ----- collector ----- elements ------- by geometry ------ by surface.' It doesnt show any elements associated to this surface even though I have a few nodes associated to it. Could you please help me figure this issue? I checked other questions in the forum, but they dont help because I have a complex geometry to select elements for. Here is a small screenshot of what I am doing.   9. Hello, I encountered the following problem: after creating a 2D surface mesh on all surfaces of a solid I used tetramesh. Afterwards I reorganized the meshes so that the tetramesh belonged to the component of the original geometry and the 2D mesh was deleted. When trying to apply a line load onto the new tetramesh the following error occured: Lines are not attached to edge elements. I also tried to select the nodes by geometry and selected the desired line but my selection of nodes was not accepted. On the previous 2D mesh the line load worked fine. Do I have to actively attach the new tetramesh to the geometry or do so while creating the tetramesh? Or am I doing anything wrong when creating the tetramesh, so that the lines for line load wouldn't be accepted? Thanks in advance
  10. I am trying to create a j-integral domain for abaqus using hypermesh. I am having issues of circles not being imported with enough line segments, resulting in triangles and straight lines for these circles. I have included an image of the import.   11. Hi guys, I truly need your help. As you can see in the attached picture, I'm trying to understand if the initial inclination of the pneumatic cylinder has any effects on the torque needed to tilt the arm. I imported the CAD into my motionview model (Cylinder in vertical position) and I would like to know if there is any way to rotate the cylinder and its components (cylinder case and piston). I tried to achieve this result by defining the position of the Center of Mass as a function of the inclination angle (expressed as a solver variable, in order to optimize its value by using hyperstudy in a second moment), but I'm afraid that I simply translated the center of mass instead of rotate it (see picture), in fact the floating marker associated to the piston is not tilted. How can I achieve this result? How can I rotate the graphic too? (I tried with "orientation" but I cannot fully understand which angles it desired as input) Thanks for helping me in this matter.
  12. Hello everyone, I have a mode of a propeller in which I have only faces and edges. However, it is a 3D figure. When I want to make the medium of the model a dielectric medium, I get to choose between PEC, layered dielectric and default. The thing I do not understand is how can be a layered dielectric be a medium? Is it over a medium already? What exactly does it do when I select the medium as layered dielectric?

  14. In order to define a plane containing a circle, I need the center of the circle and the normal of the plane. Getting the center is simple using hm_getbestcirclecenter. I have not been able to find a means of getting the normal. If it were possible to get the coordinates of two points on the circle, I could use those with the coordinates of the circle center to calculate the normal. However, I haven't been able to find a means of getting those two points.
  15. Hi all, I am very new to using Optistruct and I'm having a weird issue. I run my model and the output file gives me zero errors. When I open the results some of the geometry from my model is missing. Specifically, it's the part of the geometry where the load is applied. Does anyone know why this happens and how to get the geometry to appear in the results? thank you!
  16. Hi I am trying to clean up the geometry of a particular solid. When I import the model from solid works to ABAQUS i get an error showing imprecise geometry and hence I'm unable to mesh it. I am therefore trying to clean up the geometry in hypermesh but im unable to detect any imprecise geometry as all edges show green. Can someone tell me how I should proceed in identifying and correcting the geometry Thanks
  17. I am a student and I am trying to run an impact analysis of a truck chasis. There are more than 100 components and I have created mid surface of all the components to do 2D mesh. I facing a problem where there are gaps. I have tried to use the extend surface option but not abler to remove the gaps. Please help me out. have attached a pic for reference.

  19. We all know that hyperwork is unitless. But then i face an inconsistency in importing my geometry into hypermesh. I import same geometry, one in the form of Nx part file, another one is in parasolid, both with exactly same geometry. The geometry of part file after imported into hypermesh will have exact the same size as in Nx( let say the length is 100mm in Nx, the length after imported into hypermesh is 100). But if i import the parasolid geometry with length of 100mm into hypermesh, the length would appear as 0.1 instead of 100. How can i solve this inconsistency? It is important for me to standarise everything without using the scaling factor as i need to automate my process. I would use both Simlab and Batchmesher in my process, the inconsistency is a very big problem.
  20. Hi I have two objects and object A locates inside of object B. The outer object B is already meshed and saved as hm file. Object A is imported from IGES file. So I open B.hm file and import A.igs . I used boolean operation; {A-B,B}(cut A with B ). After boolean, I tried to mesh object A, but I cannot mesh it and the mesh is just attached to the inner surface of B. I would like to have hex mesh for B and tet mesh for A. Anyone can help me with meshing object A? I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Jay
  21. Hi, I've modeled a geometry on HyperMesh and i've exported it as a Parasolied (.x_t file) and now i want to import the geometry on AcuSolve in order to run a CFD analysis. And the import of the geometry on AcuSolve doesn't systematically work, and I don't knwo why. The problem is that i don't manage to find the reason why it doesn't work systematically. I've tried also .nas and .cas files, and it doesn't wor at all. I got this type of error : Could you please tell me steps to export the good type of file that can be read with AcuSolve. It would be really nice!! Or just tell me the reason why i can't manage to import any files on AcuSolve. Yours, Emmanuelle

  23. Any simulation carried out using AFDEX will consist of 5 different files, a simulation addressing file, two input files, and two output files. Files for addressing a simulation: The SimuLation addressing File(.SLF) contains information about the data files needed for carrying out an analysis. Format: .a2dslf and .a3dslf for a 2d and 3d simulation respectively Example: example1.a2dslf Input Files: The Simulation Control File (.SCF) contains the information needed for simulation control and is subject to change during execution. Format: .a2dscf and .a3dscf for a 2d and 3d simulation respectively Example: example1.a2dscf The Simulation Input File (.SIF) is about the workpiece, die geometry and relevant process information like friction, die velocity etc. In most cases, the user will be not be required to edit anything in this file as all the requirements will be satisfied in the GUI. Format: .a2dsif and .a3dsif for a 2d and 3d simulation respectively Example: example1.a2dsif Output Files: The Simulation Result File (.SRF) saves the input data, FE Solutions, and the process conditions. This file cannot be read by the user directly and can be accessed through the post-processor. Format: .a2dsrf and .a3dsrf for a 2d and 3d simulation respectively Example: example1.a2dsrf The Simulation Print File (.SPF) records the simulation history or the total procedure. The error information is also recorded. Format: .a2dspf and .a3dspf for a 2d and 3d simulation respectively Example: example1.a2dspf Note that a .PRJ file is generated by the preprocessor and functionally it is similar to the SLF. Working on the feedback from users over the time, AFDEX GUI has and is being improved continually to minimize the user intervention as much as possible and make the simulation procedure simple. The file types discussed above will come into play only when advanced forging processes are simulated. For the majority of applications, the user can simulate directly using the GUI.   24. Hey guys, maybe I am unaware of a setting which causes this, but at least to me, this is strange. I have a modified version of the CClip Tutorial and when I mesh it, the geometry changes and neither the geometry nor the mesh has a node where it should be. .gif and .hm attached.   25. Hello, I have a large model which has been cut and made mappable using Ansys. We have given names to each and every component in Ansys. When we are trying to import it in HM as a geometry, only few components are displaying their names. Can anyone tell me how to overcome this problem?
