  1. Hello, I have been trying to assign a local coordinate system to a group of constraints and my model so that I can load it in a direction specified by the local coordinate system. Therefore, I believe I need to use the Mesh>Assign>Node Analysis System and BCs>Assign>Load Reference System for all my constraints and model nodes. However, when trying to assign the Node Analysis System, only "set displacement" works. "set reference" gives an error saying that "Nodes defining a system cannot be assigned to it". I have a feeling this is why my Optistruct simulation is quite bad. Interestingly, I tried the same method on a very simple box model in a separate model, and created a coordinate system using the nodes of the box. I was able to "Set reference" without a problem, and I could see a clear change in the OptiStruct displacements to the new local coordinate system. I am wondering why my other model does not allow me to set the reference. Any advice is very appreciated.
  2. Hi, My loadstep, TSTEP and NLPARM are as follows In the result, the number of the time data is 432. (Its time step is not 0.0001) I learned that when NLPARM and TSTEP are used together, DT on NLPARM overrides DT on TSTEP. This result is caused by incremental load based approach in OptiStruct?   4. Hi, I heard that Penetration is defined as the overlap of the material thickness of shell elements, while Intersection is defined as elements that actually pass completely through one another. My model is as follows. Thickness of the Solid component 'top' is 1T. When I make 'bottom', I use 'translate -> duplicate-> z-direction -1'. (Thickness of each component is 1T.) So I think there is no overlap between 2 solid components. But Penetration check tool detect penetrations. Why does it happen? It means there is overlap between 2 components? Thanks
  5. Hi, I want to do 'preloaded nonliear transient analysis'. 'nl_static' is Bolt Pretension analysis. But output is as follows. Nonlinear transient analysis does not support PRELOAD card? Thanks.
  6. Hi, My load step is nonlinear transient and my model contained the contact. Output message is as follows. My model does not have a linear analysis SUBCASE. "the gap/contact behavior depends on the initial open/closed status and does not change." -> It means contact status is not updated. But the status is updated for each iteration in my results. Why does the message appear? is it just only information? Thanks.
  7. Hi, I want to know the reason why penetration occurs. auto1 : Length (x-direction) = 1000, Height = 100(y-direction), mesh size = 50 component1(yellow) : same as auto1. When I make component1, I use 'translate -> duplicate-> y-direction -100'. If I assign Property and Material on the components, Penetrations occurs. (If property and material are not assigned, penetrations does not occurs.) Why does it happen?? Thanks.
