  1. Hello, i have a curved shell-geometry on which i like to reorient the nodal coordinate systems to follow the curvature. I only like to do that for the nodes on the edge. With that nodal systems i like to assign rotational boundary condition following the curvature of the shell-geometry. I am using OptiStruct for Solving. How do i proceed to achieve this goal? Thank you very much for your help! With kind regards Tim
  2. Hi, I did mesh in hypermesh. Now i want to export those mesh in STL format but when i am exporting it shows elements not defined in the template. How to overcome this problem. I want to export the mesh as STL file. Can anyone help me please.
  3. Hi all There are a lots of bdf file from different team mates. I would like to use hypermesh to check all bdf file for duplicate elements or free nodes etc.. Is it possible to select multiple bdf files once and run these check rules? Best Regards
  4. Hi, I would like to reflect a previously created co ordinate system. I'm able to reflect all nodes & elements (here in need the same FE for RH side as well). I do not see an option for the same. Alternatively, any tcl command also would help me since I'm familiar with it. Regards, Gokul
  5. Dear AcuSolve Users, Please find the detailed procedure of mapping AcuSolve CFD results through linear interpolation option. It has a python script attached, a pdf document explaining the process to be followed. This Script can be utilized to get all the CFD results like Velocity, Pressure, temperature etc and map it onto other mesh for further analysis. Regards, Kamlesh Script.zip
  6. Hi, I have split my geometry using the trim panel. I did this with a surface. Can anyone tell me why the section that has not been given a mesh in my .fem not mappable? I get the message "non-mappable(2) along-faces form 0 loops need 1." I'm guessing I have to split the geometry further but I'd like to know why this has happened. Thanks, Laurence Actuator_forum.fem
  7. Hi, I wanted to do a simulation of a 2D-problem, but when I did the mesh it is obtained differnte size of elements for the left-face and up-face, what I wanted is the left-face obtaine the size of the up-face. I defined both two face wit the same size in the meshcontrol, but at the moment of truth this doesn't happen, so I want to know if it's possible change this above the mesh that alrady is, or if there is some parameter in the meshcontrol that allows to establish the number of element or node for a face or edge. Thank you in advance

  9. Hello everyone, I am attempting to mesh a full vehicle model of an open-wheel racecar in Hypermesh, for export to Virtual Wind Tunnel. So far, I have been successful in meshing the model without the suspension components and wheels. However, when the suspension and wheels are attached, it seems like there are way too many intersections/penetrations and free edges to fix. Does anyone have any tips on how to cleanup the geometry to get rid of most of the intersection and free edges issues? Thanks for your help, Tommy
  10. Hi I have a general question. I was wondering how springs are modeled. For instance an assembly that consists actual spring. How they should be modeled modeled? should the spring be meshed or it should be replaced by specific type of element? what kind of analysis is usually performed? what are the inputs and out puts? Is there any tutorial related to spring modelling? I appreciate if you give me some explanation in this regard. Thanks,
  11. Hallo Group I am doing Frequecy response analysis following image ie Gobal output control card what does the form field indicate eg real , phase, imagnary, both. Regards Pratik
  12. Hello everyone, I did a 1D topology optimization of a lattice structure (composed of a large amount of PBeamL elements). I want now to perform a Size Optimization of each beam section. Is it possible to generate automatically the design variables (and design variables property relationship), of the lattice structure at this point ? Thank you in advance for the help. Nathalie
  13. Hi, can Non Linear Finite Elements (based on Absolute Nodal Coordinate Formulation or ANCF) be created with Hypermesh preprocessor?
  14. Hello, I have been trying to assign a local coordinate system to a group of constraints and my model so that I can load it in a direction specified by the local coordinate system. Therefore, I believe I need to use the Mesh>Assign>Node Analysis System and BCs>Assign>Load Reference System for all my constraints and model nodes. However, when trying to assign the Node Analysis System, only "set displacement" works. "set reference" gives an error saying that "Nodes defining a system cannot be assigned to it". I have a feeling this is why my Optistruct simulation is quite bad. Interestingly, I tried the same method on a very simple box model in a separate model, and created a coordinate system using the nodes of the box. I was able to "Set reference" without a problem, and I could see a clear change in the OptiStruct displacements to the new local coordinate system. I am wondering why my other model does not allow me to set the reference. Any advice is very appreciated.
  15. Hello, I am using HyperMesh 13.0, and I want to automesh a large number (hundreds) of CAD files containing only 2D surfaces which have minimal geometry deviations such as varying in fillet radii. It is parametric CAD models with fillets as varying parameters. BatchMesher works well for me in generating a 2D surface mesh and the mesh quality it generates generally is acceptable for my purpose. However I want to fix a number of elements in the fillets in my CAD models, and I can't find this option in the BatchMesher parameters. At the moment, some models with smaller fillet radii have insufficient number of elements. I have read the help manual, and it says there is a way to specify the number of elements along the fillet, which is what I want, by modifying the Parameters file. However when I add a number to the "minimum number of rows" box, it does not work. Image is attached here from the help section. Please can someone tell me know how to fix the number of elements along a fillets when using BatchMesher? Many thanks, Hamid
  16. Hi , in current situation we all are working from home with remote desktop to access office machine and work on Hypermesh. We are facing issues with each single hypermesh commands. Its very slow. Do Altair team has some solution to this? Or any reason behind this? Regards, Mayur
  17. Hi everyone, I have problem obtaining the TCL command of auto contact pair finding. My model contains 6 components, I use the Abaqus contact manager to automatically find contact pairs for me. Manually, I can successfully find contact pairs. Since I want to run this process automatically by TCL script, I do the process manually and check out the code added in the command.cmf file. Unfortunately, the code are very long, approximately 50000 lines. Also, the code are about nodes' data and surface set, which is not I am looking for. I am looking for the command that represents the buttons "auto", "components: all", "find", "create". I will show these buttons in the figures attached. By the way, the file: raw.hm is my model. Again, my goal is to get the TCL code for finding contact pairs. Please help me, thanks! raw.hm
  18. Hi everyone, I am new to lattice optimization, and i want to control the diameter beam size and have a better understanding of CLEAN option. If i understood well, CLEAN option can be used with MinRad to delete beams under the radii defined in MinRAD. - When i don't touch the lattice parameter panel, CLEAN is set to YES by default and clean beams with very small radii (E-05 mm) at the end of phase 2 - When i use only MinRad (2mm) and CLEAN set to NO, it get all the beams above the radius defined. - But when i use Minrad with a radius of 2mm and CLEAN set to YES, it has trouble creating a feasible design. Is it because CLEAN option only works with very small radii ? It doesn't simply delete beam under MinRad in the end of optimization? For information, my mesh size is 5 cm, and my objectif is to create à structure with big enought beam, but with less beam without changing the mesh. Thank you in advance.
  19. At the time of splitting solids with planes, some edges are "moved" and give place to new surfaces that I do not want to create in the first place. Has anyone faced this problem in the past or knows how to tackle it? Thanks for your help
  20. Good afternoon, I have a BEAM (CBEAM) component and I would like to see how it deforms due to a VARIABLE TEMPERATURE applied to the whole BEAM. Is that possible? Obviously I would only like to see how it deforms on the direction of it's axis (as a BEAM is a 1-D element). The TEMPERATURE would go from 17 to 23 degrees in 6 hours (1 degree increment every hour) Thanks a lot in advance! Sergio
  21. Good morning, Could you guys tell me what is the card to put together two TLOAD? For example to put different SPC we can use SPCADD. Thanks a lot in advance!
  22. Hi all, I've got myself into a bit of a problem meshing a 'composite' part. I'm investigating the use of continuous fiber reinforced 3D printing as part of a project at Uni, where I'm using the Markforged 3D printer to specify fiber orientation etc for max stiffness/minimum weight. I have successfully simulated my basic tensile tests in ABAQUS but I'm now looking to use OptiStruct to optimise the lay-up of my design, which is a printed joint connecting two tubes at 90-deg angle with a flanged base for mounting. The design is unconventional for composites, ie not a thin shell where 2D elements can be used. I've done a few of the Hyperworks composites tutorials but none are representative of my problem so I'm looking for guidance on the meshing of the part. Being 3D printed, it is manufactured layer by layer, meaning the fibers are all parallel to the base plane, but the part has a complex geometry with different wall thicknesses, tapers etc. I reviewed using midsurfaces but I couldn't make any real progress with it. I know you can use the MAT9 for 3D composites but will this still enable me to optimise the laminate layups? I was maybe thinking of breaking down my model into each part i.e. base, stiffener and joint? I'm looking forward to hearing what people say - I'm fairly new to Hyperworks but I'm really enjoying learning it!!
  23. Hello, I have a persistent error on some elements : ** ERROR ZERO OR NEGATIVE 2D SOLID VOLUME I work with QUAD in Axisymmetrical. Many additional errors were remove during debugging. A similar model (I believe) under an old version worked, however... etienne_AXY_cu_ag.hm
  24. Hi , I want to take screenshots of the HM model. Since my screen is wide, the images that I capture are naturally wider (say 16:9) . I want my images to be slightly narrow (say 4:3) Manually, I achieve this by adjusting left and right tab areas. Is there any way to do this programatically? Thanks!
