  1. I'd like to share the seamless integration that Compose with other HyperWorks applications, such as HyperMesh and OptiStruct. In order to expose the Compose function to other HyperWorks applications, we need to register the function. This is done clicking on the right mouse button on Register Function in Compose: After this step, we may now see that the function has been registered under the same mouse click shown above under Show Registered Functions button. Once it is registered, we may now use it inside other HyperWorks softwares, and the function will be available without the need for closing and reopening the application of interest. Example in HyperMesh: Why Compose and HyperMesh? Matrix Browser queries and modifies HyperMesh and HyperView data entities without writing cumbersome TCL coding, along with a Math method developed in Compose. Example in HyperGraph: Why Compose and HyperGraph? Plotting capabilities of HyperGraph are expanded with Compose’s advanced functions and custom procedures developed by the user. Example in HyperView: Why Compose and HyperView? Advanced post-processing or special mathematical approaches may be applied directly on the model. Example in HyperStudy: Add a new output response Define a new expression Use your custom Compose function Why Compose and HyperStudy? User-defined functions to perform design exploration and optimization. Example in OptiStruct: Why Compose and OptiStruct?   2. Hello Everyone, I urgently need your help. I have to do an optimisation of a B-Pillar which i have already simulated in Radioss according to 3 point Bending. This was my first time with hyperstudy so i guess i did many thing wrong by defining output responces and contraints i guess. The aim is to hold the intrusion level same and minimize the mass of the structure. I would be really appriciated if someone could help me. i ll post some screenshots here because somehow i cant save the hyperstudy file. Actually i can save but cant open again. It gives error. I just added the size parameters. Shape parameters i will add them later when i understand how hyperstudy works exactly After nominal run i tried to evalute the study But i get this error : Full folder is in the attachments. I need urgent help to finish master thesis. Thanks in advance
  3. Hello, I am quite new to hypermesh and I want to create simple solid beam which has a hole and then I want to move the hole. I have built the model in hypermesh and added all the constraints, I have tried morphing but it deformed my meshes while moving the hole by making my beam longer. Would you please help me about which modules I should use? I am currently trying to figure our hyperstudy parametrization

Dear all, has someone already thought about having some kind of R(educed) O(rder) M(odel) block within Activate in the sense of directly using the result of a model order reduction, e.g. created in use of Hyperstudy? Even better would be a block, that directly calls Hyperstudy to execute a model order reduction. Curious to get your thoughts on this... Best regards, Christian
  5. Hi, I am looking for help with extracting the far field data from FEKO and importing it into HyperStudy. I have tweaked the .lua script which was provided in example I-4 in the Example Guide. The attached script seems to run without any errors (dummy value is imported into HyperStudy) if I comment out lines 17 and 24 of the attached code.   6. Hello, We have been running a quit heavy optimisation with hyperstudy using the GRSM algorithm. After about 37 runs, the computer stopped or we had a power cut or something, so we had an abnormal termination of the optimisation. Is there a way to restart the optimisation from where it stopped instead of running the whole thing again? It is a very heavy opt, so it took us a day and a half to run up to iteration 37, and it would be very important for us to just restart from where left. Many thanks in advance.
  7. Hello, I am trying to utilize hyperstudy to optimize a bespoke shell section Beam. Essentially the beam is a hollow I-section but we would like to use hyperstudy to parameterize the thickness. Is this possible? The solver we are using is Optistruct.

  9. Hi, I`m writing my master thesis and I need an help with tutorial HS 4200. I`ve done all the tutorial and I`ve found the parameters shown in the pdf. I`d like to print a comparison plot experimental data vs fitted curve, but I can`t do it. I tried to recover strain and stress in hyperview, but they are different from the experimental stress/strain. Please help me!
  10. Hi, I created a study where I want to analyse the effects of varying plythickness and plyangle of a carbon plate. I defined plythickness and plyangle of every ply as design variable (parameterized file) and then created a DoE. Now i got problems with the response. I dont want to see the composite stress for each Element as itself, but for each ply to have a better overview of the effects. Is there a possibility of filtering my response? By defining my response, I can select the element which is evaluated regarding composite stress. I exactly need the same for selecting a whole ply. Thanks for your support. Regards

  12. Hello, I want result of frequency response analysis in real and Imaginary form in H3D format. I have specified this in load step and also in Global output control . but still I get output in Phase imaginary form. I am want to use this Vectors Real and Imaginary further in Hyperstudy to do Model updating where I have defined my own criteria. Regards Pratik

  14. Hello, I am trying to use Hyperstudy to perform an inverse analysis to characterize a rubber. But in the tutorial (p367 attached pdf) I used, there is an .xy file required (Stress-Strain data points). How can I switch my type file .txt to .xy please?   15. Hi all, I am following the hyperstudy e-book, beam.fem example (Hyperstudy 13.0) but I can't access the expression builder (see attached picture). The nominal run has been written, executed and extracted correctly. What can I do to input the responses I want to investigate? I can't even use the file assistant (probably introduced in the version 14.0?)
  16. Dear all, We are trying to set a HyperStudy simulation. We have a batch process which calls a tcl file and the we read outputs. The problem goes as follows: In the batch process we need to know at which folders we are currently. When Hyperstudy runs the nominal run for instance, it creates folder C:/Users/user1/Desktop/Gen02/approaches/nom_1/run__00001/m_1/ and copies there our .fem file (input) In our batch we are using param %HST_APPROACH_RUN_PATH% to get the path of that folder. But we are getting the parent folder: C:/Users/inasiopo/Desktop/Gen02/approaches/nom_1/run__00001 So .../m_1/ is missing!!!! How can we get the correct path? Hope we explain it in a good way.   17. Hi, I have a model of a plate with many holes that need to be fastened to a beam. I want to make an optimization with Hyperstudy to know where I need to put the bolts to have the minimum stress inside the plate. How can I define my model in Hypermesh, in which Hyperstudy will be able to create all the possible combinations of bolts position for a DOE ? Thank you, Benjamin

Hello I have to optimize bearing length in extrusion process with hyperstudy(I do this with hxsolver (that relateed with hyperstudy directly)) but my supervisor doesnt accept and he wants me that do with hyperstudy and define objective function but I cant define it. how to define response function for obtaining uniform velocity?   19. Hi there, I would like to perform a design sweep using Hypermorph and Hyperstudy. The responses I am looking for are the Von Misses stress and/or Strain energy density averaged over a set of elements with a given SID. I have given it a fair attempt, but am stuck. I am only able to select one element at a time when defining responses from file sources. Is there a way to reference all elements in a set, average them and return their mean- whether or not in this order? Thank you and Happy hollidays
  20. hello Group I need to define response from my solver output file (*.h3d) as X axis(frequency) vs Y axis (FRF).. how do i do it in expression builder.. please provide steps for doing it. I tried using freq, frfmag etc from functions tab. was not able to get it. as it expects a vector i dont know how should i refer my frequency and frf response vector values here Regards Pratik
  21. Attached is a Hypermesh deck of a structure whose mass I’m trying to minimize. The structure has a square shaped core covered on the top and bottom by composite facesheets. Shell elements have been used for modeling. The size of the square and the thickness of its wall determine the buckling characteristics of the facesheets. I’ve modeled using a square of side 6mm and its wall thickness is 1.5 mm (shown in the snapshot below). By varying the size of this square and changing the wall thickness, I’m looking to minimse the mass, the constraint being that the buckling factor must always be greater than 1.   23. Hello All, I have two questions 1. I am trying to do a DOE in Hyperstudy (2017) with ABAQUS (2017) as Solver. I created a new model, parametrized the XX.tpl file, registered the solver and typed XX.INP in solver input file field. The problem occured when i tried to define a response. I ran the simulation in Abaqus once to get the .odb file. I then put the file in 'approaches\nom_1\run__00001\m_1' to define responses. But when i tried to drag the file into the work area, it says 'file not recognized by Hyperstudy reader' and Hyperstudy text extractor gets selected. Please help me with this problem. 2. Is it possible to do DOE for physical experiments (i.e. without creating an expression for evaluating responses from Design variables) ? Thank you, WBR R: Prasaenna

  25. Hi All, Am trying to understand hyperstudy using Shapes and I have encountered a bit of a headscratcher. My plate has a hole with a radius of 50mm and I want to examine the effects of changing that radius. When I apply a shape to it and get to hyperstudy it asks me for an upper and lower bound (default -1 and 1) and an initial of 0. My question is, what exactly do these numbers relate to? When I run it creates a hole 37.5mm and 62.5mm radius respectively, but how does that relate to lower and upper bounds of -1 and 1? OKay it has consistently created a difference of 12.5mm but how did it calculate this? Many thanks in advance. Is there any way I could have just said initial = 50mm, lower = 45mm and upper = 55mm?
