1. ## Composite size optimization plypercentage

How to define ply percentage & balance constrained in HyperStudy? Following are definition from fem file. DCOMP 1 STACK 2 + PLYPCT 45 20 25 BYANG + PLYPCT 90 55 60 BYANG + PLYPCT 45 20 25 BYANG + BALANCE -45.0 45.0 BYANG I have created model in hm for 32 ply. In hyper stydy I am defining discrete design variable for ply direction which will take up values -45,0,45,90. But I am unable to add ply percentage & balance constraints in hyper study. 32_ply.fem
2. ## Material Uncertainty via Stochastic Analysis in Hyperstudy

Hi Everybody, I am fairly new to Hyperstudy and I would like to use the Stochastic Analysis to investigate the scatter in the linear structural response of a loaded part due to material uncertainty. I do not want to optimize anything. Instead, I want to define material constants (i.e. E & Nu) with a mean and a normally distributed upper and lower bounds (e.g. +- 10%). Then run the analysis and find out how much for instance the Maximum Stress, Strain or Displacement varies for the given load case. I managed to define the model setup and the variables. The nominal run is complete. Can I get uncertainty affected vonMises Stresses & Strains as well as Displacements (XYZ) and reacton forces on individual nodes? These parameters are output variables in the Hypermesh analysis. However, how can I define these response variables correctly in Hyperstudy? I am using Hyperstudy 2019 and Optistruct as Solver. 3. ## Exclude single data points from HM results

Hi all, how can single data points be excluded from the source in HS 2019.1? I have a model from Hypermesh with a few solid elements showing stress singularities due to a freeze contact with beam elements which are physically not valid. Is there a way to exclude single element IDs, a range of IDs, a set or exclude all elements above a certain stress threshold? I could not figure out how to correctly use the filter field in the data source menu.
4. ## compliance response with mass response in one run

Hi guys, how to run on one model optimization with compliance response and mass response? I can't make this happen. I already created in hyperstudy two models with different .tpl files - one for compliance and one for mass, then I get responses from .hgdata >> optimization >> objective. I can't open .out in hyperworks readers, work only with ASCII. It is possible to combine compliance and mass responses?
5. ## Hyperstudy + Multiscale Designer

Hi, I would like to perform constituent material property calibration (tow and matrix) in Hyperstudy by coupling Multiscale Designer and Radioss models, similar to: https://www.altair.com/resource/using-radioss-hyperstudy-and-multimech-for-improved-composite-design https://www.altair-gmbh.de/resource/using-hyperstudy-and-multimech-for-advanced-composite-material-design I need to write the solver script that would generate a multiscale material model at each iteration.The Multiscale Designer graphical user interface does not show the commands that are used in the back end programs. Edit: The command lines can be found in the MDS user manual. There is a command for Homogenized Linear Material Export, but the command for multiscale material export is missing. Is this command not available or just missing in the manual?

7. ## Lack of mrf file after nominal run evaluation

Hello there, I have a problem with running a Study (I've tried on Tutorial file and also on my own model). After evaluation of Nominal run there is no .mrf file created in approach run folder, therefore I'm not able to set the proper response (I'm not able to choose the file for Data Sources). In MotionView analysis output options T've marked to create mrf file, and after MotionView Analysis there is such file created. But unfortunately after HyperStudy nomial run there are just some other files but not the important one Thank you in advance
8. ## Abnormal termination of Optimisation

Hello, We have been running a quit heavy optimisation with hyperstudy using the GRSM algorithm. After about 37 runs, the computer stopped or we had a power cut or something, so we had an abnormal termination of the optimisation. Is there a way to restart the optimisation from where it stopped instead of running the whole thing again? It is a very heavy opt, so it took us a day and a half to run up to iteration 37, and it would be very important for us to just restart from where left. Many thanks in advance.

Hello, I am trying to utilize hyperstudy to optimize a bespoke shell section Beam. Essentially the beam is a hollow I-section but we would like to use hyperstudy to parameterize the thickness. Is this possible? The solver we are using is Optistruct.

I'd like to share the seamless integration that Compose with other HyperWorks applications, such as HyperMesh and OptiStruct. In order to expose the Compose function to other HyperWorks applications, we need to register the function. This is done clicking on the right mouse button on Register ﻿Function in Compose﻿: After this step, we may now see that the function has been registered under the same mouse click shown above under Show Registered Functions button. Once it is registered, we may now use it inside other HyperWorks softwares, and the function will be available without the need for closing and reopening the application of interest. 12. ## Changing hole location

Hello, I am quite new to hypermesh and I want to create simple solid beam which has a hole and then I want to move the hole. I have built the model in hypermesh and added all the constraints, I have tried morphing but it deformed my meshes while moving the hole by making my beam longer. Would you please help me about which modules I should use? I am currently trying to figure our hyperstudy parametrization

Hi, I`m writing my master thesis and I need an help with tutorial HS 4200. I`ve done all the tutorial and I`ve found the parameters shown in the pdf. I`d like to print a comparison plot experimental data vs fitted curve, but I can`t do it. I tried to recover strain and stress in hyperview, but they are different from the experimental stress/strain. Please help me!
14. ## Composite plate with varying thickness and ply angle

Hi, I created a study where I want to analyse the effects of varying plythickness and plyangle of a carbon plate. I defined plythickness and plyangle of every ply as design variable (parameterized file) and then created a DoE. Now i got problems with the response. I dont want to see the composite stress for each Element as itself, but for each ply to have a better overview of the effects. Is there a possibility of filtering my response? By defining my response, I can select the element which is evaluated regarding composite stress. I exactly need the same for selecting a whole ply. Thanks for your support. Regards

Hello, I want result of frequency response analysis in real and Imaginary form in H3D format. I have specified this in load step and also in Global output control . but still I get output in Phase imaginary form. Hi, I have an issue with cut approach (https://altairuniversity.com/learning-library/radioss-sub-modeling-cut-approach/). I'm modeling an half of full vehicle with the cut approach above. From this sub-model, with hyperstudy I modify a little bit the geometry and study how the crash changes dynamic. I wonder how dynamics could vary among runs if the section-force imposes original displacements? Many Thanks

Hello, I am trying to use Hyperstudy to perform an inverse analysis to characterize a rubber. But in the tutorial (p367 attached pdf) I used, there is an .xy file required (Stress-Strain data points). How can I switch my type file .txt to .xy please? 20. ## expression builder doesn't open

Hi all, I am following the hyperstudy e-book, beam.fem example (Hyperstudy 13.0) but I can't access the expression builder (see attached picture). The nominal run has been written, executed and extracted correctly. What can I do to input the responses I want to investigate? I can't even use the file assistant (probably introduced in the version 14.0?)
21. ## Run Path question

Dear all, We are trying to set a HyperStudy simulation. We have a batch process which calls a tcl file and the we read outputs. The problem goes as follows: In the batch process we need to know at which folders we are currently. When Hyperstudy runs the nominal run for instance, it creates folder C:/Users/user1/Desktop/Gen02/approaches/nom_1/run__00001/m_1/ and copies there our .fem file (input) In our batch we are using param %HST_APPROACH_RUN_PATH% to get the path of that folder. But we are getting the parent folder: C:/Users/inasiopo/Desktop/Gen02/approaches/nom_1/run__00001 So .../m_1/ is missing!!!! How can we get the correct path? Hope we explain it in a good way. Hi, I have a model of a plate with many holes that need to be fastened to a beam. I want to make an optimization with Hyperstudy to know where I need to put the bolts to have the minimum stress inside the plate. Hello I have to optimize bearing length in extrusion process with hyperstudy(I do this with hxsolver (that relateed with hyperstudy directly)) but my supervisor doesnt accept and he wants me that do with hyperstudy and define objective function but I cant define it. how to define response function for obtaining uniform velocity? 24. ## hyperstudy Querying Set Averages Using Hyperstudy

Hi there, I would like to perform a design sweep using Hypermorph and Hyperstudy. The responses I am looking for are the Von Misses stress and/or Strain energy density averaged over a set of elements with a given SID. I have given it a fair attempt, but am stuck. I am only able to select one element at a time when defining responses from file sources. Is there a way to reference all elements in a set, average them and return their mean- whether or not in this order? Thank you and Happy hollidays

hello Group I need to define response from my solver output file (*.h3d) as X axis(frequency) vs Y axis (FRF).. how do i do it in expression builder.. please provide steps for doing it. I tried using freq, frfmag etc from functions tab. was not able to get it. as it expects a vector i dont know how should i refer my frequency and frf response vector values here Regards Pratik
