  1. Hi everyone, i want to solve this problem where there are forces on the 4 point and check the FBD forces at the constraints. i run it in the solver optistruct and got the result. When i open the fem and op2 file in hyperview to check the FBD then it opens the file but when i select an element or node an error message showing 'no valid cross-section for plotting' and doesn't work.
  2. When I run this command using below tcl hv -b -tcl Image_Capture1.tcl example.modl example.res This is the results log I see on my linux terminal: Ready Loading Report... Applying Report... Ready Ready Capturing... Ready It's stuck at "Ready" and unless I press Ctrl+c or enter it doesn't exit back to terminal. How can I make the code to exit to terminal after the proc is over? proc BatchMain { } { set inputdeck [lindex $::argv 6] set resultfile [lindex $::argv 7] puts $inputdeck puts $resultfile set t [::post::GetT] hwi GetSessionHandle sess$t sess$t GetProjectHandle proj$t hwi OpenStack sess$t LoadReport Batch_Process.tpl sess$t ApplyReport Batch_Process replace true false 2 $inputdeck $resultfile set numpages [proj$t GetNumberOfPages]; for {set i 1} {$i <= $numpages} {incr i} { proj$t SetActivePage $i proj$t GetPageHandle pg$t $i pg$t Draw pg$t ReleaseHandle sess$t CaptureScreen png image_$i.png } hwi CloseStack proj$t ReleaseHandle sess$t Close } BatchMain
  3. Is there a way to open vtk files in hyperview?
  4. Hello, I am running the below command on a linux server hv -b -tcl Image_Capture.tcl example.modl example.res . and I get below error: Loading Report... Applying Report... Invalid character in integer field: '##'. This is the first time I am running this command on this server. I have attached the tcl file for reference. Please advice!
  5. Hi, Is there a query command to identify elements attached to nodes in Hyperview? I can identify nodes attached to elements by using element.connectivity. There isn't such query available for nodes. Thanks, Roshan
  6. Hi ! I have a problem when I try to vizualise Radioss results on HyperView. My model is a foam box under a compressive uni-axial test. During Radioss execution I have no error and warning but when I try to vizualise stress or forces into foam box , I see Stress or forces are egual to zero .... However, deplacement results are not equal to zero and seems correct I attach my model and h3d file Thanks in advance for your help ! modele_eric_modifv5.hm modele_eric_modifv8.h3d
  7. We are practicing the C-shaped clip of the tutorial to learn Optistruct. The calculation itself with Optistruct is possible, but as shown in the figure, the "HyperView" button is displayed in white and cannot be selected, and the result file cannot be displayed. The software used is HyperWorks 2019 Student Edition. I would appreciate if someone could teach me a solution. Thank you.
  9. Dear sir, I am doing Head Impact on ip and plotted the acceleration curves in hyper graph. But i couldnt extract the HIC value from the vehicle safety preferences tool as it is showing rectangular curves as shown in the attachment, can i know how can i get hic values from the curve perfecly in hypergraph?
  10. Hello, i am using HyperView 2019.1. When i try to visualise the displacements in my simulation via "Contour -> Result type: Displacement -> Apply" i can't see the corresponding legend. The same problem applies when visualising the stress or strain. In preceding versions of HyperView this was not a problem. So i hope someone can help me "turn on" the legend. Thanks!
  11. What is the way to find out assembly name of a component from element id or component id in hyperview?
  12. Hello I have 13 pages of modal simulation results. Is there any single click option to export all pages as gif files. Currently I am saving each page manually. Thanks
  13. Hey all, I am a bit confused right now. I did some exercise with hyperview tcl. I set up a real simple script: # Hyperview Exercise1 hwi OpenStack hwi GetSessionHandle session1 session1 GetProjectHandle project1 project GetPageHandle page1 1 page1 GetWindowHandle win1 1 win1 SetClientType animation hwi CloseStack When running the script multiple times it says several times: session1: object with this name already exists. I thought, wit hhwi CloseStack all handles would get released which is not the case? Someone seeing the same behaviour with those lines running 2 times? Thanks in advance and best regards, Merula
  14. Dear, I did a sweep calculation for a Degas Bottle, the frequency range is from 15Hz to 100Hz, acceleration level is 3g, when I got the response stress after the model frequency simulation, I outputted the stress tensor of the most critical element, but I found there are 12 stress tensor in the pch file, so how the hyperview use these tensor to get the plot stress? I could not find the way. Meanwhile, how the Optistruct calculate the damage based on the response stress, I mean how to calculate the cycles at interested frequency, I know the help document, but it doesn't tell too much. Thanks a lot! 20191202_GWM_B30_Degas_Bottle_LT_V5_Opt.pch
  15. Hello all I would like to find an way to link hypermesh to analytical calculation. For analytical calculation, I think the software will be excel or hyperstudy. Summaries the steps; 1-I would like create a section cut with selected nodes and elements and get the cross section properties ( which is available aerospace section cut command) . 2- Read the FBD forces on that nodes and elements. 3- Do some math with the crossection properties and FBD forces. Which steps and softwares required for this process? What are your recommendations? Best Regards
  16. Hello all. I know there is a very good tutorial on the subject (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=236ofmwz1X4) however I would like to share my latest experience when comparing stress results obtained from two different solvers i.e. MSC NASTRAN and Optistruct. By default NASTRAN calculates stress using the command: STRESS(PLOT,SORT1,REAL,VONMISES,BILIN)=ALL, meaning that (if you neglect the other terms) a bilinear extrapolation is used to get the stresses from the element's centroid to the nodes. Since optistruct/RADIOSS calculates stress at the element's centroid by default, I supposed that the equivalent command in the .fem input file for optistruct would be: STRESS(SORT1,H3D,REAL,ALL,BILIN) = YES (I have replaced "VONMISES" with "ALL" to have all stresses in my output) and performed two examples of simple static analyses: one with shell elements: the well known hole in plate and another with a bracket meshed with solid elements (4 noded tetras). In both cases the results from MSC NASTRAN and Optistruct were identical, as long as in Hyperview I activated the option "use corner data" (participation of element to the node). Without "corner data" activation the difference in VM stress between NASTRAN and Optistruct for the hole in plate problem was 175 MPa (NASTRAN) to 157 MPa (Optistruct). Now: I performed an analysis of a 3d bolted connection (two plates connected with a 3d bolt) with bolt pretension as a first step and a tensile force acting on the top plate of the connection as the second step. Obviously, this problem involved contact between the plates and the bolt. The analysis converged and the results were correct since I knew from published results (and NASTRAN) that max. stress should be approx. 80 MPa. I received the same results with optistruct, but without the "use corner data" activated, although I have used the command described before for stress. If I activate the corner data in Hyperview, then my stresses almost double in magnitude (156 MPa). So, this contradicts with what I have found with my previous tests (hole in plate and 3d bracket). Does it have to do with the "contact"? Thank you in advance for your reply.
  17. Hello, Is possible use Hyperview to export/convert results to an Abaqus ODB file?
  18. I have a results file with 120 subcases. Each subcase has its own contour plot and results. I want to retrieve the max displacement for each subcase and write it to a file without having to view each subcase. Ideally, I would like the legend value of the displacement to be "fixed" not "scientific". I've written a couple TCL scripts for Hypermesh, and am familiar with the puts for writing to the file, but have no idea what any of the commands are for the hyperview tcl.
  19. Hi, I wish to create a tcl script to record the steps I perform in Hyperview, something like a MACRO. However I see that it Hyperview does not offer an option to do so like in Hypermesh. Can anyone help me with that?
  20. Dear Hyperview users, i'm doing a static analysis on a fortran code and i want to visualize results graphically using Hyperview, the problem is that the structure info are in .'"dat" format so i need to transform it into hwascii file in order to import in Hyperview; is there any software that can do this job ?
  21. hey! can someone teach me how to apply load to this engine bracket by using hyperworks. i have problem with attach the 42 degree load and torsional load for the bracket. you can see the load type from the diagram. i also attach the iges file of the bracket for your reference. My target is to reduce atleast 20% of its weight. please contact me if u guys can help me. i really need to know how to put the load. thank you. original.igs
  22. Hello, Can someone please tell me if there is a way to view the deformation and displacement of a section of a model on hyperview? I want to see the deformation in a certain section of a cylinder. Thank you in advanced Kind regards
  23. Hi! I am trying to simulate, using hypermesh (optistruct), a 3 point bending test of a composite sandwich panel made of carbon fiber and aramid honeycomb. I have modelled the core using PSOLID property and MAT9ORT material and the skin where modelled using the tool "find faces", and then creating four CFK plies that form a laminate which is associated to the property PCOMPP that the skins have. I used MAT8 to define CFK plies. The Optistruct solver doesn't output any errors at all; however, when visualising the deformed shape, it represents an absolutely wrong and wierd shape for the sandwich panel where the supports are as shown in the attached picture (right and left side of the photo). I've tried to model it several times and even change some properties in case there was material failure in such points, but didn't work. I need help as soon as possible. Thank you!
  24. Hi, I´ve done a structural study and I want to send the results to a partner. Is possible to export a 3D view of it in a format that isn´t necesary have hyperview for open it (something like edrawings in solidworks) or if its possible export a step o similar format with results map attached. Thanks in advance
  25. Hello hyperview users, I am new to hyperview and I want to create a template that could export images on a separate file (.txt .ppt etc..). For the moment I have create a template that generates 8 windows, and I use the copy/past tool on each window to export images. Any suggestion to use improve my template and export every windows ?
