  1. Hello all. I know there is a very good tutorial on the subject (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=236ofmwz1X4) however I would like to share my latest experience when comparing stress results obtained from two different solvers i.e. MSC NASTRAN and Optistruct. By default NASTRAN calculates stress using the command: STRESS(PLOT,SORT1,REAL,VONMISES,BILIN)=ALL, meaning that (if you neglect the other terms) a bilinear extrapolation is used to get the stresses from the element's centroid to the nodes. Since optistruct/RADIOSS calculates stress at the element's centroid by default, I supposed that the equivalent command in the .fem input file for optistruct would be: STRESS(SORT1,H3D,REAL,ALL,BILIN) = YES (I have replaced "VONMISES" with "ALL" to have all stresses in my output) and performed two examples of simple static analyses: one with shell elements: the well known hole in plate and another with a bracket meshed with solid elements (4 noded tetras). In both cases the results from MSC NASTRAN and Optistruct were identical, as long as in Hyperview I activated the option "use corner data" (participation of element to the node). Without "corner data" activation the difference in VM stress between NASTRAN and Optistruct for the hole in plate problem was 175 MPa (NASTRAN) to 157 MPa (Optistruct). Now: I performed an analysis of a 3d bolted connection (two plates connected with a 3d bolt) with bolt pretension as a first step and a tensile force acting on the top plate of the connection as the second step. Obviously, this problem involved contact between the plates and the bolt. The analysis converged and the results were correct since I knew from published results (and NASTRAN) that max. stress should be approx. 80 MPa. I received the same results with optistruct, but without the "use corner data" activated, although I have used the command described before for stress. If I activate the corner data in Hyperview, then my stresses almost double in magnitude (156 MPa). So, this contradicts with what I have found with my previous tests (hole in plate and 3d bracket). Does it have to do with the "contact"? Thank you in advance for your reply.
  2. Hello, Is possible use Hyperview to export/convert results to an Abaqus ODB file?
  3. I made a normal modes analysis and now with Hyperview i'm trying to get the data I need. I already got the eigenvectors (X,Y,Z) for each of the modes using the Matrix Browser. Nevertheless when I get those result I don't get the natural frequency (eigenfrequency) related to that specific eigenvectors. As you see in the picture below, the frequency doesn't appear (only that those data is related to "sel1"). How could I make the eigenfrequency to appear there so ones I postprocess the results I can get access to that data? Thanks in advance Sergio
  4. hello everyone, i want to do an optimization in order to increase the correlation between experimantal results and numerical ones, using MAC cretria, my design variables are the stifness of the damping springs. my size optimization is well set it works but i don't know how can i connect the expermental result that i have in an .UNV file and the numerical results. to say to optistruct i want to increase the mac between the two. i know that i have to use the parameter TRAKMETH MODETRACK MFILTER. but i don't know the right steps to operate this one. if you have some ideas i will be greatful thanks.
  5. Hello, I have performed a transient thermal simulation with OptiStruct. I want to get the surface average value of temperatures in a surface for all the time steps, but I don´t know how to get it. Do you have any idea of how to do it in HyperView? Thank you very much Juan Iradier
  6. I attempt to go through Toplology Optimisation with relative displacement (in x, y, z) as constraints and loadcases. SoI need to select all the nodes displacements at certain cross sections, where there is the only path transfering force to design area. I am new to optistruct and hyperview, I just noticed it is possible to select cross section and read also output every nodes' displacement in Excel. My question is, does it work in this way? and if yes, How should I input these data (should be more than hundred nodes) into Optistruct as an easy way? A tutorial would be so appreciated! Cheers!
  7. Hi How to output the result file in h3d format what the output fields i have to use to get rhe output in h3d format
  8. Hi! I wanna model the rotation of a gear (wheel) with a preload in the pinion. I asume the preload is modeled with a moment but, how do I model the rotation? And which analysis type should I choose? (I don't want a quasi-static one). Some analysis don't let me include a LOAD. Thanks in advance!

  11. Hi, I am creating a script where I want to orient the model such that I can clearly view the interested node and capture a zoomed-in image. So far, I am able to set the desired orientation. But, I am unable to zoom exactly at the interested node. Is there any way I can achieve this? Thanks, Roshan
  12. Hi, Is there a query command to identify elements attached to nodes in Hyperview? I can identify nodes attached to elements by using element.connectivity. There isn't such query available for nodes. Thanks, Roshan
  13. Is it possible to remove Notes from being displayed on a Hyperview window using a tcl command in the console ? I can hide a particular component or set using the GetComponentHandle and SetVisibility commands, however I haven't been able to find a GetNoteHandle or similar command to hide the model info displayed by a Note on the active window.
  14. Hello I want to take some values from user so how can I take values from user Like in Hypermesh we use hm_getfloat Is there any command which will serve same purpose in hyperview??
  15. Hi, Is there any command available to get the name of steps in Hyperview? I got number of steps by using the command "hwIAnimator GetNumberOfSteps". From this or any other way can I get the step names? Thanks in advance for considering my request. Regards Mohammed
  16. Hi, I have performed simple modal analysis and now would like to create a report which shows the contour plot of mode shapes and list the natural frequencies. I would like to export this report into wor or pdf. Thanks, Ahmed
  17. Hello, After completing the optimization, there are 50 runs due to the algorithm and inside all of the runs there are s1.h3d files where I can see the results of each evaluation and I can add results manually in hyperview but for more evaluations it is quite a hard job to do. So I wanted to ask if there is an easier or automatized way to see all s1.h3d files of runs together in hyperview? thank you
  18. I would like to make a script loop script for Yes or no to repeat the action. Please help me out
  19. Hi, What is the command for finding hyperview version? Is there any command similar to hm_info in Hyperview? Thanks Mohammed
  20. hello, im doing a model correlation between an experimental results stocked in a UNV file, and a numerical simulation run using optistruct while loading both results from the UNV file and the h3d i have a message the said << Node block 2411 or 15 or 781 does not exist >>. this error comes from the UNV file and i don't know how to fix it. thank you for your help!
  21. I'd like to share the seamless integration that Compose with other HyperWorks applications, such as HyperMesh and OptiStruct. In order to expose the Compose function to other HyperWorks applications, we need to register the function. This is done clicking on the right mouse button on Register Function in Compose: After this step, we may now see that the function has been registered under the same mouse click shown above under Show Registered Functions button. Once it is registered, we may now use it inside other HyperWorks softwares, and the function will be available without the need for closing and reopening the application of interest. Example in HyperMesh: Why Compose and HyperMesh? Matrix Browser queries and modifies HyperMesh and HyperView data entities without writing cumbersome TCL coding, along with a Math method developed in Compose. Example in HyperGraph: Why Compose and HyperGraph? Plotting capabilities of HyperGraph are expanded with Compose’s advanced functions and custom procedures developed by the user. Example in HyperView: Why Compose and HyperView? Advanced post-processing or special mathematical approaches may be applied directly on the model. Example in HyperStudy: Add a new output response Define a new expression Use your custom Compose function Why Compose and HyperStudy? User-defined functions to perform design exploration and optimization. Example in OptiStruct: Why Compose and OptiStruct? User-defined functions to perform optimization with DRESP3 card (desired response based on external files). Regards, Roberta
  22. Hi , Need clarification regarding FRF analysis using Optistruct . What is the need of taking PHASE response in the tutorial - OS-T: 1300 Direct Frequency Response Analysis of a Flat Plate ?? Then what is the use of below responses ??/ Regards, Arul
  23. I have a results file with 120 subcases. Each subcase has its own contour plot and results. I want to retrieve the max displacement for each subcase and write it to a file without having to view each subcase. Ideally, I would like the legend value of the displacement to be "fixed" not "scientific". I've written a couple TCL scripts for Hypermesh, and am familiar with the puts for writing to the file, but have no idea what any of the commands are for the hyperview tcl.
  24. Hi, I wish to create a tcl script to record the steps I perform in Hyperview, something like a MACRO. However I see that it Hyperview does not offer an option to do so like in Hypermesh. Can anyone help me with that?
  25. Dear Hyperview users, i'm doing a static analysis on a fortran code and i want to visualize results graphically using Hyperview, the problem is that the structure info are in .'"dat" format so i need to transform it into hwascii file in order to import in Hyperview; is there any software that can do this job ?
