  1. Hi ! I try to simulate a foam compression at a constant speed of 1 m/s. Before I have realised the same compression experimentally. In order to compare simulation and experimental. I block every movement on bottom of foam and I imposed a constant velocity to impactor. To go to approximatively 50% of strain there is no problem, simulation and experimental are the same. But after Simulation disgress from experiemental. I use brick elements of 1x0.5x0.5cm. Anyone have an idea to solve this problem model16_0000.rad model16_0001.rad
  2. Hi everyone, I just started using Hypermesh, so I apologize for the basic question, but I have been struggling for a few hours and I cannot find the solution. I have to mesh a very simple two body part. I attach a snapshot. It is a plate with a cylinder in touch with it. These are two separate bodies in the CAD I would like to mesh the cylinder first and then auto-mesh the face in contact, maintaining the same mesh in the contact region, so that if I see the mesh on the other side of the plate I can see the shape of the cylinder mesh too, surrounded by the other elements of the plate. How can I easily do it? I guess the solution is very simple, but I could not do it. I read other threads but no way. Maybe the problem is that the cylinder and the plate are already two separate bodies in the CAD? Please let me know. Thanks a lot. Best regards, E.

  5. Hi, I must model a tensile sample of composite material which consist of 3 layers of aluminium and 2 layers of fiberglass and each layer is linked by an adhesive. My problem is to model interfaces between layers, I have been advised to use gap elements to do it. Thus, on my geometry, even if layers are actually in contact, I let a small distance between them so that when I do my 2D-meshing the software does not consider them as one body and generate common grids between the two. Then I generated gap elements with the "nodes-elems" option, it creates gaps between the nodes of each mesh and also 1D-elements on 2D-elements I selected. These gaps are stocked in a new component with a PGAP property where I set U0=0.0 (initial gap opening); KA_opts selected option : auto; and MU1_opts selected option : Stick. The analysis I want to do is about a tensile test so I fixed one extremity of the sample and I applied a force along y-direction on the other. When I run the solver and observe results on Hyperview, these are not satisfying : it seems that gaps are useless and I obtain the exact same results when I delete them completely, all layers react independently from each other. As I did my analysis without a huge number of elements, I tried to redefine gaps using the "node-node" option and link all the nodes with each other, but the results are even worse : there are huge displacement along z-direction (near 30mm with a sample length of 200mm) while the force is along y-direction, plus displacement along x-direction is not consistent either. However gaps seem to keep layers stuck with each other. Could you tell me if gap elements are really adapted to my case please. And what do I have to do to implement them well. Thank you
  6. 板構造であれば構造全体にType7インターフェースを設定する事で、多くの場合、接触の問題は十分に対応できますが、Type7インターフェースは、あくまでも面と点の接触であるため、シェルのエッジやとがったソリッドの先端が接触するような場合、面と点はまだ接触していなくても、要素同士で見ると貫通が生ずることが起こり得ます。これに対応するエッジ接触がType11インターフェースです。 Type11インターフェースでは線(エッジ)と線(エッジ)の接触を取り扱います。線と成り得るのは、ビーム、トラス、スプリングといった線要素と、シェル、ソリッドの辺(エッジ)です。 接触のアルゴリズムとしては、線と線の接触である、と言う点を除けばType7と同じです。各線からギャップを考慮し、線同士の距離がその範囲に入ったときに接触と判断されます。こうして、シェルのエッジ同士等の接触を取り扱うことができますが、接触の相手の検索の効率がType7程は高くないため、Type7のように全体に与える、といった事はせずに、エッジ接触が起こりそうな部分のみに設定するようにします。
  7. Hi! I want to export a heatsink mesh file into fluent. According to the below pictures, a volume of fluid passes through a heatsink using a suction fan located inside the elbow duct. The mesh was produced using automesh and solid map (line drag) for solid and fluid parts. Boundary conditions were defined as figs 1,2 and 3 shows. As figs 4 and 5 show, while I was exporting the final model to fluent, the error says that there is duplicate and mixed element types in my model. What can I do to fix this error and export my model successfully in the fluent? looking forward to receive your kind help

  10. 板物の接触であれば、板厚相当のギャップを与える事で、Type7インターフェースでほぼ全ての問題をカバーできますが、ソリッド同士の接触の場合、Type7インターフェースではギャップ相当の初期隙間を常に与える必要があり、密着しているソリッドのモデル化には不便です。そこで、ギャップ0が可能なソリッド用の接触インターフェースとして開発されたのがType24です。このインターフェースではソリッドに対しては0ギャップがデフォルトで、シェルに対しては板厚相当のギャップが考慮されます。ペナルティ法に基いた接触インターフェースですが、ペナルティ剛性は一定で、接触によるΔTの低下はおきません。 接触の定義にはサーフェス1、サーフェス2、節点グループを用いることができ、 サーフェス1+サーフェス2:サーフェス対サーフェス接触 サーフェス2+節点グループ:サーフェス対節点接触 サーフェス1のみ:シングルサーフェス接触 を定義できます。オプションInacti=-1とすることで圧入の問題に対応することも可能です。 Radioss 2017.2からは、新しいオプションIedgeが追加され、Iedge=1とすることで、エッジ接触にも対応できるようになりました。このオプションを用いると、ソリッドではEdge Angle(デフォルト135度)以下の要素の辺がエッジとして認識され、Type11同様、エッジ同士の接触が取り扱われます。なお、このオプションはHyperMesh2017.2の段階ではまだ対応できていないため、現状、設定には入力データのテキスト編集が必要です。
  11. Hello, I am doing a study inflating an airbag with a particular shape and there are a lot of contacts between surfaces, that I modeled with interface type 7. I have some troubles because there are some nodes that pass through master surfaces (even if the interface is activated) but then the contact is applied and the nodes can not pass through, creating high contact forces and reducing the time step. I wanted to use the control card DT/INT/DEL to delete the interface in those nodes, I fixed Tscale to 0.9 and Tmin to 1.0 e-4. When I run radioss, time step reduces up to 5e-5, some nodes are deleted but not those that passed through surfaces and have high contact forces. Any idea about how can I deactivate interfaces in nodes where the contact force is higher than a fixed value? Thank you
  12. Hi, I am trying to run a model with tied interface (Type 2) and AMS. The interface is defined with contact surface as master and nodes on the slave side. During starter the following warning appears: WARNING ID : 852 ** WARNING SLAVE NODE OF AN INTERFACE TYPE2 & AMS and during computation: WARNING INTERFACE 2 NODE xxx DE-ACTIVATED FROM INTERFACE Can this deactivation of slave nodes be avoided when using AMS and type 2 interface? The same model was run successfully using DT/NODA/CST.
  13. 現在、Radiossの接触において、特にシェル同士やシェルとソリッドの接触において、最もよく用いられているのが、このType7接触インターフェースです。 Type7接触インターフェースは、サーフェス-節点接触タイプに属する接触インターフェースですが、その法線を定義するのではなく、そのセグメント周りにGapを設定し、そのGap内にセグメントを構成する節点以外のスレーブ節点が入った時に接触と判断します。こうしたアルゴリズムとする事により、一つの接触インターフェースで両側からの接触を取り扱うことが可能で、また、スレーブ節点群にはマスターサーフェスを構成する節点自身を与えることも可能です。従って、自己接触も可能で、さらに、シェルで構成された、例えば車体全体を一つのマスターサーフェスと一つのスレーブ節点群とした全体接触インターフェースとして与えることも可能です。 このように、古典的なインターフェースよりもはるかに効率化された接触インターフェースですが、Gap内にスレーブ節点が入った段階で接触と判断する、というアルゴリズムの関係上、このGapの値は0にできないことには注意が必要です。例え0を与えたとしても、板厚や要素サイズから自動的に0ではないGapの値が計算され、適用されます。 また、接触と判断された節点がマスターサーフェスを貫通することが無いように、貫入量が大きくなるほど接触剛性が大きくなる非線形剛性が適用されます。この点の詳細については、Radiossユーザーズガイド->よく有る質問->接触インターフェース: インターフェースタイプ7に対する初期インターフェース剛性はどのように計算されますか? をご覧ください

  16. 陽解法コードでは衝突解析などでの接触を扱う為に、様々な接触インターフェースが考案され実装されてきています。ここではまず、古典的な接触インターフェース、サーフェス-サーフェス接触(Type3)、サーフェス-節点接触(Type5)について記します。 サーフェス-サーフェス接触(Type3) この接触ではシェル要素もしくはソリッド要素の表面の節点からなるセグメントを考え、その法線を定義します。法線はお互い向かい合っているものとし、接触は、このセグメントの法線方向から発生し、向かい側の節点がセグメントを越えたときに接触と判断します。これを両者のサーフェスのセグメント毎に行います。従ってこの接触インターフェースは対称のインターフェースとなります。 サーフェス-節点接触(Type5) これを片側のマスターサーフェスと、スレーブ節点としたのがサーフェス-節点接触です。やはりマスターサーフェスのセグメント毎に法線を考え、そのセグメントを節点が超えたときに接触と判断します。 これらの接触インターフェースでは、いずれもセグメントの法線を考え、そのセグメントを越えた時点で接触と考える手法ですので、もし、両側からの接触が生ずる場合には、別途接触インターフェースを定義する必要があります。また、自分自身が変形して接触するような自己接触は表現できません。更に、複雑な接触となると、接触の相手をうまく検索できない、といった問題があり、より改良された接触インターフェースが色々と考案される事となります。現在ではここで示したような古典的なインターフェースが用いられることはほとんどありません。

Hi there, I m performing a 3-point bending analysis on a beam (L=250mm, Squared Cross-section 30*30) and once I refine my mesh to a certain degree (elements' characteristic length < 0.5mm) I start getting error messages sent by RADIOSS. The first tells me I have initial penetration on my self-impact interface and the second is message error id 22: ShellID ... has 2 identical nodes that are not 3&4. Any idea on how to solve these issues? I ve already tried to decrease the minimum gap for initial impact, but it didn't work. Any help would be great Thanks
  18. Good morning to everybody I'm working on ditching bodies in water, modelling it with SPH elements, and the bodies like rigid bodies. I use interface type7, as master i take the body surface, and slave nodes i take the sph elements (nodes); In interface edit panel, i use Istf=1 (just 0 and 1 avaible for sph formulation) and here we came to my need: i have to calculate the interface stifness (with istf=1 STFAC=costant interface sifness), between water and body, because from this depends in a large part the time step, but i don't know how. Should i consider a simple average value between bulk modulus of water and young modulus of body material, or a average weighted value, by a characteristic of entry in water, like entry speed or water height... thanks to all Damir

  20. Hi Guys, Im doing frontal collision using radioss, spot weld and adhesives were provided using connectors. Since there were interferences between spot weld and adhesives as shown in the figure. Both spot and adhesives will be there in model, is it advisable to continue with this. Since my major interferences and penetrations is between spot and adhesives. Can you provide me a better solution. Also while providing type7 contact, Case1 In my model both shell and solid part persists i have directly selected those parts in Master Entity and Case2 In my model , i have created skin for all solid parts with a thickness of 0.01mm and updated those in Master entity along with shell parts in this which one is advisable, how to establish contact for those solid components.

  22. Hello all, I am working on a model with an interface between RDX and a metal. With all Lagrangian it works correctly ! So I was expecting to get better results with RDX ALE and metal LAGRANGIAN, but I am getting negative volumes ERROR very quickly... I tried all the Interfaces Types for ALE/LAGRANGIAN but none of them is working correctly for my model. Did anyone know about this problem ? You can find attached the files of my simulation.   23. Hi @George P Johnson I am working on a contact between two surfaces (Both of steel materials having hollow circular section)having clearance of 0.1 mm . I was using TYPE 19 contact but facing issues in the same and one of the node in the interface reduces time step. Parameter sued with TYPE 19: Istf :4, Fric: 0.1, Gap min: 0.1, Inacti6, Iform2 . Any other parameters recommended for solving type 19 ? Thank you
  24. Hello, I use Radioss for a dynamic impact problem, but also for the moment to validate my model through a quasi-static analysis. A first component compresses a second component with an imposed velocity. The interface between them is of type 7. In dynamic explicit simulation the interface works fine but in the implicit simulation, I get a warning in interface : "NODE ... DE-ACTIVATED FROM INTERFACE". If I make an "initial penetration" (initial gap < gapmin entered into type 7 interface) I do not get this problem (however I get initial constraints I want to avoid). Would anyone know what the problem might be ?
