  1. Hi guys, I would like to ask you why cannot I apply displacement initial conditions on joints? This happens for all kinds of joints, I can only apply velocity initial condition as shown in the figure below. Thank you all.
  2. Hello, My doubt is about Hinge joint declaration in Optistruct: What is the difference between first and second grid? It has something to do with dependendent and independent nodes? Or the order in which i pick the nodes does not affect? Thank you!
  3. Long story and potentially many questions in the same post but all related to the same issue and I ned help! I can't seem to understand how my kjoint2 spherical connection between 2 RBODY is behaving. What I am trying to model is a suspension ball joint in Radioss and I want the rotation to be limited to a certain maximum angle in ANY direction from vertical (creating a conical shaped limit envelop). I created a simple problem to resolve my issues but it doesn't seem to work. I cerated 2 node reference systems in such a way that they move together and that their Z axis is always coaxial. I then limited my kjoint2 in Saz- and Saz+ to ±1 rad but it does not behave as desired. When I plot my TH/spring, I can see that RZ of my spring DOES respect the 1 rad angle limit. But this does not make sense with the visual behavior and the true angle that I can plot in Hyperview that cleary goes over 1 rad. Also Rx and Ry are showing rotation which again does not make sence with the visual behavior. Any help to resolve this is appreciated! Thanks All my simple model files: Radioss_BJ_angle_V19.zip

Hello, I am trying to add a cylindrical joint between two parts and apply a moment onto one part, something similar to a Hinge But the elements tend to collapse (expand and scale up) and not stable I have tried Cbeam elements with torsional moment as negligable, but having the same effect Can you let me know how to create stable joint in Optistruct Thanks and Regards Koti

Short Version I am quite new to FEA and HyperWorks and am modelling a suspension bridge with a distributed load and a ball-joint to connect the vertically running cables to the main cables and deck, but with a Linear Static load step the joints are ignored. Slightly-longer version The bridge I am modelling is the Humber Suspension Bridge found near Kingston upon Hill, England. The model has a distributed force across the top nodes and I have attempted to connect a few vertically running cables to the deck using a ball joint from the Mesh > Create > 1D Elements > Joints menu. The deck and support have been imported from CATIA and then (2D) meshed whilst the cables have been created using lines then line-meshed with a Beam Section. When I attempt to run the analysis with a Linear Static load step the Solver View states the joints are ignored and "MBD cards are present in the data, but there is no MBD sub cases. JOINTs, MBD loads and other MBD cards will be ignored". So I attempt to use a Multi-Body Dynamics load step but I'm not entirely sure what to put in the variables other than my constraints in the SPC. My forces are currently of load type FORCE, should they be MBFRC? Kind Regards
