  1. Hello, I want to make a thermal simulation of a cooling plate in hyperworks with the AcuSolve Solver. The geometry would be this: Where an aluminium cooling plate (the grey solid) is in contact with a water flow (blue volume). The problem is that I can't get a mesh with coincident nodes between both volumes, taking into acount that for the AcuSolve simulation I need two surfaces in the interface between the solid and the liquid volume. Do you have any solution for it? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I wanted to do a simulation of a 2D-problem, but when I did the mesh it is obtained differnte size of elements for the left-face and up-face, what I wanted is the left-face obtaine the size of the up-face. I defined both two face wit the same size in the meshcontrol, but at the moment of truth this doesn't happen, so I want to know if it's possible change this above the mesh that alrady is, or if there is some parameter in the meshcontrol that allows to establish the number of element or node for a face or edge. Thank you in advance
  4. Hi all, I am relatively new to HyperMesh and have to mesh a complex structure for a topology optimization for Additiver Layer Manufacturing. Unfortunately I can't share a picture. The structure is one component only and has thin parts with one size very small compared to the others and it has bulky parts. For my understanding shell elements for the thin and solid elements for the bulky parts would be best. Is it and how is it possible to split up the structure to assign shell elements and properties to some parts and solid (e.g. tetra)elements and properties to the bulky parts? Otherwise any recommendations for a general mesh type are welcomed! For a complex structure maybe a tetra mesh would be best? Thank you all.

    Solid Map

    Is the Solid map option usable only in case the solid volume between the two meshed surfaces does not contain any voids , like bolt holes ? in the case of contrary what can be the mesh strategy to mesh a volume that has some holes that pass through the body ?
  6. Hi, I am new in Altaír Simlab. I am currently doing my final degree work and I’m using Altair SimLab to carry out a linear static study to obtain deformations in a planetary system. My problem comes when I want to refine the mesh. I have seen in different videos that it exists a method to create automatic refining. Could you help me by explaining how to apply this method? Manually refining usually causes me problems when I calculate again. I tried to create a response but when I'm going to check the convergence always appears this message.   7. Hello everyone! I have 3D tetra mesh and in the middle of any particular element of the mesh I have a dot. It seems that this dot means nothing, couldn't find any information about it. But for my project I need to get coordinates of those dots, without coordinates of the mesh. As an example we can get .txt file with coordinates of elements of the mesh. What I need to get is the same .txt file with coordinates but with coordinates of those dots only. Should I use some TCL commands or is there any way to do that? Very grateful for any help!

At a recent Flux conference, I heard that SimLab has very interesting tools for viewing a mesh and I was hoping to use it to observe the meshing of the air in my 3D models, which is an absolute pain in Flux itself. Is there any documentation on how I can open my meshed geometry from Flux in SimLab? Thank you in advance! Romain
  9. Hi, I have come to learn that, in Flux 3D simulation results vary drastically with change in infinite box size. This, I think may be due to change in mesh. Are there any guidelines in terms of what an ideal mesh setting should be and/or what an ideal infinite box size should be for a typical 3D simulation? In my models, I have been using 'Mesh Domain' option to mesh the geometry. Please advise. Best Regards Balaji
  10. The recommended element size is to have 3 elements by the width of the part. The wall thickness of the part is 4.5mm so I need an element size of 1.5 mm When trying to do so I get a message of too many elements, 23.16 million elements. (23.16 )*4.5(GB)= 104.22GB (Ram memory needed) I have 128 GB Ram memory. Should I enlarge my Ram memory to 256 GB? Please advise.

I have obtained the post-processing results concerning magnetic flux density distribution in the domain, iron loss figure computed by means of Bertotti formulation and so on. Now I need to access iron losses and magnetic flux density data for each element of the finite-element mesh. This is needed for further investigations, e.g., compute how many mesh elements have a certain magnitude of magnetic flux density. Is it possible? How can I do it? I know that "Computation on points" analysis is available, but it is not useful in this particular case. BR, Marco Biasion

  13. Hi All, I have to run in batch mode a tcl file, in which a meshing process is recorded. Is there a guide or some tutorials? The tcl is perfectly working if i run it from Hypermesh, but it doesn't if I use hmbatch.exe Thanks, Enrico
  14. Hello, I would like to tetra mesh my component from a 2D mesh of trias that already exists. The 2D mesh must remain constant as it has a load applied to it that cannot be changed. The problem I am having is that the tetra mesh option 'fixed trias to tetra mesh' produces large size elements in the middle of the model. I would like to constrain the maximum size of the 3D tetra mesh so its does not increase in size in this way. Is this possible? Thank you in advance
  15. Hi; I'm working on Hypermesh V13.0 and I have to mesh a cylindrical die oncoming from Solidworks ( Save as .STEP AP203). On Hypermesh I want to decrease the external diameter of the die for exemple I want to mesh the die with this different diameter : Ø40 / Ø35 / Ø30 / Ø25. This operation is possible with Solidworks but it's very long lasting because I have to mesh 14 die with four different Ø (--> 56 similary meshing). And for my simulation is better if I have the same meshing on every diameter. My approach for this is : 1st : I import geometry which is step file type : For beginning I import a die Ø40. 2nd : In "GEOM" tool menu I use quick edit for decrease my Ø; for this I use the washer split with an offset value : 2.5 (to have 5mm on the Ø). After I supress the older lines with toggle edge (the older lines are on dotted line). --> And now I fail to mesh my new geometry (with F12 tool menu) When I use (size and bias) : Surf --> Display --> Mesh : The older lines (dotted) are meshing. --> Surf --> By Window --> I select the lines which I want meshing --> The older lines aren't meshing () but I don't have mesh on the new external surface of the die as the die is hollow. --> OK // --> External surface NOK I think my approach for decrease the external diameter isn't good. I think I have to create a new surface but I just create news lines. For your information I don't have the center of my die in hypermesh I hope you understand my problem and you can help me.   16. Hi all, I am using Hypermesh of Hyperworks 14.0 to mesh my Geometry and eventually load them into Abaqus (2016) to do the simulation. (Export as .inp Input Deck) I have a rather large assembly with at least 6 components at the detail of the simulation but also want to export the full assembly with >100 components. Now when I meshed all to-be-exported parts and do the export, all the exported parts cannot be loaded as seperate parts but as a combined part. That's not really helpful, as I need to allocate materials, loads etc. pp. My workaround currently to have seperate parts in Abaqus is to export all components seperately. However this brings me all parts as individual models in Abaqus which is not helpful when having >100 components. Also the Abaqus-Tool to seperate the mesh deos not help as there are parts intersecting each other and other parts which get falsely seperated. I also checked with Ansys, same problem, so it seems to be some kind of setting in Hypermesh.. Really appreciate any help and thoughts! Thanks in advance J
  17. hi everyones I try to simulate an antenna but I confront an error: error33238:Not enough memory available on the hard disk for an out-of-core file. in addition it has a warning by contents: warning 1663:Inhomogeneous segmentation for triangles. I use edge port to excite a quadridged horn antenna with coaxial cable. thanks in advanced.
  18. Dear all, Please help me figure out a tcl/tk code to generate a macro which would make temporary nodes, along the first mesh it encounters along the geometry line. The blue could be thought of as the initial state and orange as the deformed component. There is a requirement to calculate the thickness after deformation, and no fixed nodes could be allotted as component differs. It is possible to isolate the particular component as the names are known and the remaining could could be masked, and i wanted to know if we could get HM to project a temp node on the first mesh it encounters along the line of the geometry which is fixed for all components. Guys here i try to mesh a 3D model file and for which i made the 2D mesh on the surface using surface deviation with max min element size and growth rate. then i try to make tetrahedral mesh so i went to 3d-----> tetmesh and selected the 2D elements and gave simple pyramid and meshed it. But while the mesh was on progress error was coming as Input mesh is self intersecting and the mesh formed is only over the surface and it is formed as a seperate CFD trias......... here i have uploaded the snap shot of 2D mesh and corresponding percentage of failure in different 2D mesh checks......from 1 to 8 PICTURE denotes the element check from WARPAGE to JACOBIAN. CFD tria PICTURE shows the mesh formed by wen tat mesh was given. mesh formed over surface alone PICTURE shows the masked view of the inner Cross section self intersecting PICTURE shows the error msg tetmesh PICTURE shows the options selected for tet mesh and its window

Hi All I know that in shell structures, when we have the midsurface, we verify that there are no free edges, what about two solid bodies, specially if I have had to trim the solid, since a part is revolutio and the other part is an extrusion, so they might need different meshing techniques ? how can I assure the mesh in continuous ?

  23. Hello, I need to calculate RCS of large cube (8x2x1.5 m) at 70 GHz. Unfortunatelly, FEKO solver triangulates my object in too dense grid. Is there any way to reduce total simulation time? Are there any settings which I can play with to optimize my simulation? I used the most coarse settings of the meshgrid in my simulation. But it still works to loooooong.... BR, Dimon
  24. Hi, I am trying to create a boundary layer mesh around a sphere. It is non uniform boundary layer, what I mean is I am fully aware of how to create a volume mesh with boundary layers. But what I dont know is how I can create a varying number of boundary layers within the domain. Say closer to the sphere, I want 20 layers and near the inlet I need 10 layers. Is there way to create this within Hypermesh? Thanks
  25. Hi Everyone, I'm new to Hyperworks and working my way through the tutorials but for some reason I can't seem to see meshes on my parts when I create them. Here's a screenshot of what I can see: No matter how far I zoom in the mesh doesn't appear, and I can only see it when using the "shrink" visualization setting, which appears as below: My graphics card driver should be up to date as I just updated it a few weeks ago. I'm running a Radeon graphics card on Gentoo Linux, and using Hyperworks 14.0 Desktop. Thanks!
